2014 Ford Transit Connect: Who has one?
mrtn replied to robertlane's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
S-MAX is smth completely different. It's more like a sleeker Pacifica. -
Why don't you get a set of long life tires, like Cooper Cobra G/T or similar? Sure, you'll not get any traction with them.

This NV-van is a typical Asian fish delivery cart. Nothing to be compared to the TC. Everything about it is awkward, looks, seating, ergonomics, etc.

2014 Ford Transit Connect: Who has one?
mrtn replied to robertlane's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
The van is not as impressive as the promo suggest. Tourneo automatic (the passenger model) is much better. Better seats and interior trim. I think the van is overpriced for what it is. I don't like the seating position, lack of armrest and the placement/action of the shifter (MT). First gen has a laser sharp short throw shifter on the floor in a perfect position for the armrest, you can shift with two fingers, you never miss a gear. The new one is a bit mushy and the dash mounted shifter moves up-down instead of back and forth, which feels more natural. You might as well get a Citroën Berlingo which has exactly the same engine and is much cheaper (no LWB, sure). I decided to keep my current TC until the wheels fall off and get the new Civic Tourer Diesel (63 mpg) for long distances. Huge boot. -

After going to see it I decided not to get one. -
Try this question in the UK forum, they know for sure. http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=54&

Roof attachment points on 2014 Transit Connect
mrtn replied to hdrider's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
I also asked my dealer to find out if it's possible to order the rails like the Tourneo Connect has. I am yet to hear from them. So, over here there are OEM rails for the model with seats, along the roof and the crossbars clamp to these. -
Ford Transit Connect Winter Tires - Do I Need Them?
mrtn replied to Transit Connect Guide's topic in Wheels & Tires
Here in Northern Europe winter tires have always been mandatory during snowfall months, lately from December to March. Having two separate types of tires on one vehicle is not allowed due to unexpected behaviour in actual winter conditions. Also, ABS/ESP systems are not designed to work with different types of tires at the same time. I recommend everyone living in temperate/nordic climate experiencing snow in winter to try out winter/snow tires. It changes everything you knew about winter motoring. -
Same here. I suppose it's a big job to install it.

Wasn't expensive at all, don't remember how much exactly. Find out here: http://vantuner.co.uk/ Doesn't affect insurance as it is not detectable. The modification is nothing to be worried about as the same engine is used in Focus in higher HP setting. It's detuned for the Transit Connect for whatever reason, I guess insurance.

You being in UK, take advantage of Vantuner's mail in ECU remapping service, you'll get plenty of extra punch out of the 75. I think it can be remapped to 95 hp or more.

I am yet to meet a car dealer who knows about what they're selling. The questions I turn to them with have them "umm" and promise to find out and never do. The best case was in a Honda dealership where one of the original sales guys (I have bought several cars from) did not know how to open the trunk in a car I went to see. That's what happens when you have people lined up for more cars than you can deliver.

I'm talking about the European version but the bodywork should be pretty much the same. A charging USB port is there in the center console together with a 3.5 mm AUX port and what it looks to me a SecureDigital slot? The center console is an optional extra. The USB and AUX are there in the dash top drawer as standard. I'll go see the machine in a week or so as it was supposed to arrive here then I can confirm everything. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5jafzlnaryiu9ex/tc_2014_usb.png

You can always wait, perhaps there'll be a hi-roof model later on if there's demand. There's a 4" difference compared to the old model.

2013 TC front door speaker size.
mrtn replied to Cosmin Crisan's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
You would have to cut the sheet metal. The speakers are already off center in OEM locations so you'll be off even more. Bigger speakers make a big difference in TC doors. I reverted to OEM size from 5x7 and have regretted since, even with an amp it loses the punch, it just comes down to physics. The only thing you have to check if the magnet fits. Make sure you insulate the doors while you have them opened up. Again, big difference. Now: get an amp (speaker level inputs, 2 channels) -
Fuel filter new? Checked cylinder pressure? Fuel pump checked?

sure:

I have Blizzak WS70 on my Mazda 6. Adequate, soft and mushy tires, above average performance in every aspect in freezing temperatures but do not shine in any. Not good in warm winters.
-
No way. Always use 4. The car performs unexpectedly when there are different types of tyres back and front. You may have chains in front only when climbing a hill at limited speed but never for road driving.
-
Just checked the place in Google Streetview. Awesome scenery.
-
Good job. I had a WTF-moment at picture TC39. The opposite side of our lake had an identical camping site as yours.
-
As long as there's black.
-
No point of getting larger wheels for winter. Keep it OEM and as narrow as possible.
