ghettoboy247
Hi Y'all, My name is Note and I am trying to acquire a 2017 Ford Transit Connect Wagon LWB Titanium in RACER RED! I know this is somewhat of a ludicrous color, but I feel that if I'm going to be buying a new car for work and play, I should get exactly what I want? This is what I am interested in ordering; 2017 Ford Transit Connect Wagon LWB Titanium w/ Rear Liftgate in RACER RED - Daytime Running Lamps - Front and Rear Splash Guards - Panoramic Fixed-Glass Vista Roof - Roof Rack with Cross Bars - Trailer Tow Package - All-Weather Floor Mats - Front & Rear - Key Fobs - Upfitter Wiring Harness - Keyless Entry Keypad - Side-Window Deflectors - Front & Rear Parking Sensors Obviously, I am pretty confident that this particular configuration will NOT be available in the United States, but even if it is, chances are slim to none. I've made my rounds to different dealerships and have had salesmen laugh at me or even thought I was crazy or not serious about buying a Transit because of what I was looking for. I'm tired of being jerked around and even though there are some decent dealerships that are honest with me and haven't tried to bait and switch me, they are quoting up to 6months for the build time. I know that it may come in as soon as 3 months, but having to keep in mind that it may take up to 6 is a little disheartening. The main reason I am choosing the 2017 Titanium is due in part to the presence of SYNC 3 which utilizes Android Auto & Apple Car Play! If any of you haven't had a chance to try out the (2), I seriously urge you to try it out ASAP! Whether it be on an aftermarket head unit or any of the new Ford or Volkswagen models - it is very powerful and makes any vehicle feel superfluously modernized and technologically integrated! Being that I travel a lot and have to deal with working on the road, being able to utilize Google Assistant and Siri makes a world of a difference in utilizing my time and not having to worry about pulling over to use my phone/head unit and BEING HANDS FREE!!! My main dilemma is the wait period - if I do end up waiting 6mo, will Ford announce the 2018 Transit Wagon Connect LWB will be available with the 1.5L Ecoboost? That would certainly be a deal breaker for me, seriously! Does anyone have any insider information in regards to this? Also, there are a few dealerships within 100miles of me (91745) that has a Magnetic Gray Transit in a similar configuration and are willing to "make me a deal" on them. I am currently at $1k deposit to order my custom Racer Red Transit at $100 above dealer invoice. SHOULD I SETTLE FOR A MAGNETIC GRAY AND PICK ONE UP ASAP OR SHOULD I ORDER AND WAIT FOR MY RACER RED? zalienz
I went just through a very similar experience. In the end I decided to get what I wanted, and special ordered mine in black. It took 4 months, but I'm very happy I did it my way. Sync 3, tow package, etc, yea got it too. You need to make the decision to wait or not. For sure, you will get a better deal haggling over what is already on the dealer lot. Special ordered - they got ya because they already know you are in love with it, you will pay more. Balance your $$$$ with overall happiness. Choose lowest $$$$ - get the gray. Overall happiness, get the Red.

It shows that we have so much money, that we can willingly choose not to eat meat, in order to be stylish and trendy. 1/3 of the world's population is vegetarian, and with the exception of a few strict religious doctrines, most of them are not vegetarian by choice. They can't afford to eat meat. We can afford to not eat meat. Why don't you take a fatted calf to a refugee camp, and try to convince them why it's wrong to eat. Fifty150
In all seriousness........ On the one hand, you could take that dealer's offer, and try to negotiate for a better price than $100 over invoice. Believe me. Invoice is simply an arbitrary number. You could negotiate your way into a fantastic deal on something in current inventory. However, you won't get what you want. To get what you want, you'll have to spend more, and have patience. Will you get instant gratification on a good deal today? Or will it be a better feeling to wait for what you want? I know. It's like turning down a sure thing, because you have your eye on another girl, already talking to another guy, at the other end of the bar. It's your money. Spend it on what makes you happy. But I've just got to ask. You are getting a glass roof, with a roof rack? What are you going to look up at? Ladders?

The roof rack is going to be for whatever isn't going to fit inside of the transit such as flag poles, canopies, bikes, etc... Granted this means that the inside will be filled to the brim (i do lots of trade shows and events) and I may even utilize my storage pods when necessary. TBH, I didn't really much car for the sunroof until I checked out that 2017 Magnetic Gray Titanium and if must've been the fact that the dealership I checked out was near Pacific Coast Highway and the weather was great outside.... made me really want the Panoramic after that! Still perplexed at what route I should take... but thank you for all of the input!
G B L
You could do a search for a 2017 Ford Transit Connect Wagon LWB Titanium w/ Rear Liftgate in RACER RED and see if there are any in the country and where. The line ticket will tell you what they have . The roof rack and the Sync 3 will be the toughest . The TC tow's very well so adding a hitch is easy. Good luck keep us posted on your search
Don Ridley
Wait and get exactly what you want. Factory equipment is better in most cases, e.g. the tow package includes a computer module that controls trailer sway using the brakes and also integrates with parking sensors etc. You should get factory rebates and 3 or 4 months will go by quickly. Fifty150
Are those gold stripes aftermarket, or part of your order?
zalienz
Stripes were not part of the order from the factory (Valencia, Spain). I had them added at Galpin Auto Sports, along with the chrome wheels. GAS is Ford's authorized Shelby mod shop in the Los Angeles area. Fifty150
I guess everyone who has been around the block has heard of Galpin. They have a very impressive shop.
Fifty150
Did Galpin offer any performance mods to help squeeze more power out of this little van?
zalienz
No they didn't. They did say TC's are rarely modified there, so they were impressed with the results. I'm sure you already know in Cali it's almost impossible to legally modify any post 1975 vehicle. :-( But, I'm pretty happy with this little scoot. Sure, we could always use more power.... 2.0 EcoBoost would be a welcome addition, and quite the hauler. Fifty150
Yeah. We have the strictest emissions standards and The California Air Resources Board. But you would be surprised with what passes at an inspection station. What they don't see, they don't catch. I've never been caught with underdrive pulleys, or custom tunes. Lots of guys that I know have high flow catalytic converters. A lot of cars have intake units which are not CARB approved. I've got an intake on my truck without an Executive Order Number. Just about everyone that I know with an older Harley, including me, is not riding around with any smog control equipment. Even camshafts, when you're doing an engine build, are suppose to be CARB approved; but how many people are building engines with "legal" camshafts, or even care, since the Smog Check guy isn't going to tear your engine apart to check? At my last Smog Check, the guy looked under the hood, looked under the car, shook his head, and muttered, "I don't eee nothing. If you pass, you pass. If you fail, you figure it out." All that he did was plug into my OBD II port and checked readings at different RPMs. They don't put that snifter into the tail pipe anymore. They don't even check your gas cap anymore. Since you're down in The SouthLAnd, maybe you could go around to some of those shops that have TV shows, and see if they would be interested in doing a build. Not so unusual. I think there have been Transit Connect builds at SEMA.
rstandi
My Race Red arrived on the MSC Cristiana to the port of Baltimore on Saturday. Hope to have it within 2 weeks. It was built on 9-26-16 and Shipped on 10-19. I think I ordered it on 8-27-16. As soon as we get it, it goes to the Mobility company to have the wheelchair mod for my son added. I had the 3rd row seats removed and when we did that it cancelled the last titanium upgrade automatically. Kinda bummed, but lost the panoramic glass and the front sensor package. Saved $3000-4000, though.... Can't wait to get it.... windowsticker.pdf
Fifty150
When I slide the 3rd row seats forward, I'm able to store a folding wheelchair behind the 3rd row. But I guess that all depends on the specs of the chair.

Tiller
I would recommend not getting the panoramic roof. Yes, it's nice. I bought my titanium off the lot and it already had it along with the roof rack. The only people that really benefit from it are the passengers in the back. As a driver you can't really turn and look up through it. If I was ordering it, I would never get one. I would instead suggest you use the money you save and see about getting a smaller after market sun roof that open and closes which would allow heat to escape when parked and keep the car cooler. With the panoramic you also lose the rear interior overhead storage bin which if you do trade shows I'd recommend you max out storage space. Also with the panoramic roof, the interior lighting layout is modified. You only get a single LED center roof light just at the rear of the panoramic roof. It is woefully inadequate for lighting up the interior. I will eventually be adding additional interior lighting to mine to compensate. Again, if you do trade shows, and find yourself loading and unloading at night, the standard panoramic roof lighting will leave you in the dark.
