speedometer odometer error....
103west43rd replied to Stacy Trotter's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Hello Stacy. What are you using to establish your speedo is fast? As per the 2010 Ford Transit Connect Workshop Manual, normal speedometer range is as follows....At 20mph-20 to 24 is normal, at 40mph-40 to 43 is normal, at 60mph-60 to 64 is normal. So, if you think you are 2% too fast, you are within the Ford specifications which look to be a max of + 20% at 20mph, max of + 8% at 40mph and a max of 7% at 60mph. -

Added my own Accessory Fuse Box
103west43rd replied to DonShockley's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Terrific post!!! -
ActiveIndy, for a 50 amp fuse to blow there will need to be a dead short in the wiring to ground or one or both fan motors are frozen solid! Check the wiring around the fans and follow it back as much as you can see and touch. I am sure any of the leading parts stores can supply a fuse. Please keep in mind that fuses blow for a reason, and a 50 amp fuse blows for a major reason. Let us know.

Hello DonShockley, thanks for trying to help ActiveIndy but the first and second generation Transit Connects are two different vehicles. It reads like you have a wiring manual for the second generation so please continue to jump in with help, we need more second generation owners with tech ability and manuals on this forum. ActiveIndy,as for the first generation engine cooling fans , they are supplied power from the battery junction box(BJB) behind the battery on the firewall. There are 3 fuses, a, 30 amp (F16) for the low speed relay, 50 amp (F17) for the high speed relay and 10 amp(F14) for the Power Control Module (PCM). F14 is the first fuse on the bottom left side of the BJB. It is a mini size fuse. F16 is two fuses over to the right and it is a large cartridge size. F17 is the next cartridge fuse to the right of F16. There is also a cooling fan diode and engine cooling fan resistor in the circuit but check the fuses first. If they all check good, let us know and I will tell you how to find the diode and resistor. Good Luck.
-
Hello ActiveIndy. My first thought is your cooling fan is not working. Cooling temp should not show over half way on the temp gauge.

Hello johnsonmy, the theory behind low beams going off when high beams come on is how your eyes and brain process the light. We concentrate on looking at the brightest portion of the road so, with the high beams on, we should be looking further down the road. If the low beams are on along with the high beams, we still will look just in front of the vehicle.

From Ford...... Flex fuel and perimeter alarm updates for 2016 Transit Connect compact commercial van The Ford Transit Connect compact commercial van also will be updated for 2016. The flexible-fuel vehicle system will be standard equipment on 2016 Transit Connect vans with 2.5-liter I-4 engines destined for non-California emissions states – giving customers more choices. Flex-fuel Transit Connect vans are engineered to run on E85 (85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline), unleaded gasoline or any blend of the two. Ethanol burns cleaner and is more renewable than conventional fuels. Customers also can choose the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine on Transit Connect vans and Transit Connect Wagon XLT. Hello largepants. I think the best help would be for you to also post on the UK Ford Transit Connect forum. The US does not get a diesel so the UK site would have the experience to help you. Here is the URL, http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=54. We have a few european forum members that also might be able to help. I am sure they will respond. Good Luck.

Hello escobar. ebay has a set of both the workshop and wiring manual for sale. I would also check with your Ford dealer to see if they are still available and the pricing.
-
Hello escobar. The first thing you should be doing is buy the Ford Transit Connect workshop manual. Next, the cylinder pressure did not go up enough during your wet test to convince me it is a worn ring or cylinder problem. Here is a test to check your valves. Remove the sparkplug and pump air into the cylinder. You will need to have a tight seal around the sparkplug hole, a cone shaped rubber adaptor around the air chuck is what is needed. You will need to make sure the valves are closed so taking off the valve cover might be the best way to make sure. Pump in the air and have someone listen for air coming out the exhaust pipe. If you hear or feel any air coming out, it is a bad exhaust valve.

As per Automotive News this morning........Another recall relates to a potential for fuel-pump seizures on 50,157 cars: the 2014 Focus, Edge, Escape and Transit Connect and the 2014-15 Fiesta. An issue with the nickel plating on the fuel pump could prevent the vehicles from starting or make them stall while driving, Ford said. The company said it knows of one accident that may be related, but no injuries. As per Autoblog........Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 50,000 2014 Ford Focus, Edge, Escape and Transit Connect vehicles and 2014-15 Ford Fiesta vehicles in North America (actual 50,157) for an issue with the nickel plating on the fuel pump, which may cause it to seize. If the fuel pump seizes, a vehicle may not start or may stall while driving. An engine stall without warning while driving increases the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of one allegation of an accident that may be related to this condition. Affected vehicles include certain Ford Focus vehicles built October 26, 2013 – May 22, 2014 at Michigan Assembly Plant; certain Ford Edge vehicles built April 30, 2014 to May 21, 2014 at Oakville Assembly Plant; certain Ford Escape vehicles built Feb. 14, 2014 to March 7, 2014 at Louisville Assembly Plant; certain Ford Transit Connect vehicles built Nov. 11, 2013 to Aug. 29, 2014 at Valencia Assembly Plant; and certain Ford Fiesta vehicles built April 10, 2014 to June 17, 2014 at Cuautitlán Assembly Plant. There are 45,505 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories, 4,618 in Canada and 34 in Mexico. Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module at no cost to the customer.
