I saw the article in Popular Mechanics a couple of years ago. I also considered range, availability of charging stations, and charge time. You simply can't drive 60 - 90 minutes, then look for a charging station, and wait 6 - 8 hours for a "fill up". Of course, since then, the technology has gotten better. But your charge time is still longer than the drive time. Give me a car or bike that takes 10 minutes to charge, then allows me to go for about 300 miles / 5 hours @ 60 MPH. Oh yeah. That already exist. A conventional gasoline car that fills up in 10 minutes, and goes better than halfway to L.A. I thought Zero was going out of business because of flat sales. Nobody bought them, except for Santa Cruz P.D. They were listing around $6K, and I think they were giving $2K rebates to bring it down. Too bad the technology simply isn't there yet. Just like that bike built in S.F. that uses gyroscopes and stays up by itself. Can't balance a bicycle? No problem. This one actually stays up on it's own. Great for drunks who can't walk. Couple that with self driving technology, and I am ready to party. Here you go, buddy. This was today. Just for you.

I would make you an offer on the bike if I had room to park it. Living in The City, parking is a challenge. I already have a bike in the garage, and I'm forced to park 3 cars on the street. On some days, I park and walk 1/2 mile back to my front door. Living in The City, big bikes just aren't as practical. I was actually looking at one of those new small Harleys with the 500 CC motor. And I've been thinking about a dual sport. But again, no parking. Can't stock up on toys when I have no place to put them. I had two two bikes. And a boat. I kept the Harley, but gave up the sports bike and the boat. I felt like an idiot towing that boat around the neighborhood every 3 days, looking for another place to park it.

When I slide the 3rd row seats forward, I'm able to store a folding wheelchair behind the 3rd row. But I guess that all depends on the specs of the chair.

Was this a factory option?

Guys will buy a special tool for cutting oil filters open so that they can inspect the insides. Cut open a few used filters, and you might see what the filter did after XXXX miles of use.

You didn't like that last video of the guy who tells you don't read the directions, Old Time is gonna tell you how to do it right. Then he proceeds to tell you that the manufacturer is wrong, and directs you to use the supplied hardware where he thinks it should go? I like the part where he tells you not to remove the spare, because the manufacturer is wrong; and his tire is rubbing against the part, but it's okay, because it's better that way. That was right about where I stopped watching the video, and started laughing. I should have stopped watching right at the very beginning where he says that there are no jack points, so lift the vehicle by the seams.

Mobil 1 is something that a lot of people swear by. Is it better? Is it better for what you're driving? Does Costco have a better price than Wal*Mart? I've been getting deliveries of Mag1 from an Amazon subscribe and save deal. It is a full synthetic. And the debate is out there over it's value & worth. Much like the debate for other oil brands. We have a little local boutique brand around here, RedLine, that a lot of people like. And guys who can afford to spend a little more will go with Royal Purple. Let's not forget the Amsoil cult. I've used Pennzoil, Lucas Oil, and on a few occasions, even the Wal*Mart brand of full synthetic. Switched back & forth between full synthetic, semi-synth, and even conventional. At times, I've used "high mileage" oil. Other times, not even the OEM spec weight. Plenty of times, I've mixed different oils......2 qts of this, 1 qt of that, and so forth. I'm not wasting oil I paid for. No science what-so-ever. I've always bought on sale and/or with a coupon. And I've never given up a car due to motor oil related failure.

Glad that you're okay and that you didn't get hurt. That's the most important. Anything else? That is what insurance is for. Lesson learned. Go to Home Depot instead of Lowes.

You should be able to program your key from the instructions in the owners manual. That little book has a lot of useful information. Some of us never bother to read them. I've still got owners manuals wrapped in plastic from cars I don't even own anymore. You can program things like having the doors lock automatically as you're driving off. My favorite on all Ford vehicles I've driven is being able to turn off that seat belt chime. Sometimes, a guy just wants to drive around without a seat belt.

So what are you going to do with the Dodge Ram ProMaster? Isn't that the twin to the Mercedes?

You couldn't send the video signal from the backup camera to the larger screen on your aftermarket head unit?

Since you're down in The SouthLAnd, maybe you could go around to some of those shops that have TV shows, and see if they would be interested in doing a build. Not so unusual. I think there have been Transit Connect builds at SEMA.

Yeah. We have the strictest emissions standards and The California Air Resources Board. But you would be surprised with what passes at an inspection station. What they don't see, they don't catch. I've never been caught with underdrive pulleys, or custom tunes. Lots of guys that I know have high flow catalytic converters. A lot of cars have intake units which are not CARB approved. I've got an intake on my truck without an Executive Order Number. Just about everyone that I know with an older Harley, including me, is not riding around with any smog control equipment. Even camshafts, when you're doing an engine build, are suppose to be CARB approved; but how many people are building engines with "legal" camshafts, or even care, since the Smog Check guy isn't going to tear your engine apart to check? At my last Smog Check, the guy looked under the hood, looked under the car, shook his head, and muttered, "I don't eee nothing. If you pass, you pass. If you fail, you figure it out." All that he did was plug into my OBD II port and checked readings at different RPMs. They don't put that snifter into the tail pipe anymore. They don't even check your gas cap anymore.

You're buying all the stuff you want in the car. How many features did you add in? Which goodies did you ask for? I'm sure you'll have fun playing with all your new toys. I bet you can't wait. Me? I bought a car. A car with nothing in the car. An XL model without any add-ons or features. If I can't live without it, I'll add it myself. Opinions vary. I bought a Long Wheel Base Wagon because I'm able to seat 7 people, at a very low price point. I didn't expect any luxury for what I was paying. And I knew going in, and confirmed with a test drive, that I was not buying a performance vehicle. However, it suits my needs for efficiency and economy. I can get a small group from point A to point B, and at a cost of $10K less than a more luxurious vehicle. They don't like it? They want leather seats? They want Dolby Digital & IMAX screens, with leather, heated, massage chairs? They can find another ride.

What plans do you have for lighting? Unlike the trucks and vans of yesteryear, there aren't smooth flat surfaces to use as mounting points. And anything forward from the hood will just get knocked off when someone backs into the van as they are parking.
