  1. Awesome! I'm traveling so I couldn't really watch it in detail yet. I will later tonight when I get the hotel. BTW: you should be able to flip the video so it displays right. Was tough turning the head!!! :-)
  2. Fifty: You still carry an analog phone and keep quarters handy for the pay phones?? Yeah, I've folded down seats. I've also slept on the ground with roots in my back too. if you have the capability and you enjoy doing the work, no reason to not enjoy the fruits of your labor and have a comfortable nights sleep. I use to stuff tarps with leaves for a mattress. Then the light weight blow-up pads came out. Then the self-inflating pads. I enjoyed each improvement! And the tarp stuff with leaves still works, but it's even better with a self-inflating pad on top of it! But now? A self-inflating double bed in a van? That might entice a warm female body to it? THAT's an improvement!! It's great that he's thinking of his wife's comfort.
  3. Thanks fifity! Cause I want to be able to someday sell this, and I hate putting holes in a perfectly good car, I'd probably not do that. I'd probably look at something like this and find way to clamp it to a roof rack cross bar. That's down the road a bit though! Then if it works out well and I like it, if I ever sell the Connect, I can use it on the next vehicle as well. http://www.fleetsafety.com/golight-2049-permanent-mount-combinaton-spotlight-searchlight/
  4. Welcome! Not sure about posts to read but keep in mind that a lot of that cargo space is vertical. If you don't plan on doing some mods in side to include cabinets shelves, etc... to maximize the use of the cargo space, you might as well get another Safari.
  5. Thanks for the compliments Don. They are appreciated! A long way to go!
  6. Awesome!. Congratulations!! And yes.. a bike rack on a Mustang is just wrong. Tiller
  7. Here you go. The distance between the front and back holes is 18 1/8", The distance between the bolts, side to side is 16".
  8. I covered the vertical wood surfaces with a thin aromatic cedar board. Cedar is a natural insect repellent and supposedly has calming and relaxing effects on K9's. It also smells much nicer than a wet dog. Now the space is starting to take shape. Next step is the panel that will cover the second row bucket seat when it is folded down. Then I think I'll be ready to install the matting. The rear panel on the driver's side will eventually probably be bottom hinged to fold down for access and maybe for potential use as a small desk area. For those wondering, I could have easily extended the build all the way to the rear. But I needed to leave enough room on the right side for the dog to jump into the vehicle. I was considering bringing the left side all the way to the rear but I liked having some space all the way across the back. Eventually I'll have a cargo net so for grocery shopping I can but bags across the back and hook the net across them. I also have an idea for a removable storage box that will go on the left side and easily hook one and off of the rear panel. I also couldn't build all the way out if I wanted to access the jack inside the panel on the left.
  9. Very cool. That's a lot like what I'm envisioning. The front roof bar though I think will be a bar of white off-road high intensity CREE lights instead of flashing light bar. But I like the grill lights and pillar lights are nice and very subtle. Someday maybe even the rear traffic advisory light.
  10. Check my ad in the classifieds. Two brand new leather seats.
  11. Depends on your goals for the vehicle and how you plan to use it. You might want to post a separate thread on this and solicit ideas.
  12. Do you know the history of the vehicle? It's a long shot but is there any chance there is a hidden kill switch on vehicle? It's possible if it was a DIY project they might have wired around the ignition switch to the kill switch. Since you said its been like this since you've gotten it. I know its a long shot.
  13. When I get home I'll take a close up pic of the mat material. Depending on how much space you need to sleep, (I'm assuming sleeping bag width), you could cut off just a bit extra from the with of it, say 2ft off of the 5ft width. Use the 3' wide mat which would leave about 5" on each side uncovered. Then use the 2 ft piece directly under your sleeping bag which would give you a double mat thickness under your sleeping bag. You'll get 2 1/2 " thickness. Not quite the 4" of a memory foam, but not bad. There are also a whole bunch of inflatable air mattresses on the market. I might go that way instead of the mat in your case. Would pack up and take up less space for storage. And you can inflate/deflate once on site. Take a tent with you and you have the option to sleep outside. Many have built in air pumps that use batteries or 12v vehicle power. My wife and I have used a queen inflatable for camping and for touring bike rides, (RAGBRAI, Erie Canal rides). I'm sure you could find one that fits the Transit. Maybe something like this: https://jet.com/product/detail/2ee6c78646e8466e99316f503cb832ac?jcmp=pla:ggl:gen_jd_sporting_goods_a1:outdoor_recreation_a1_other:na:PLA_627042129_26339895780_pla-179710248780:na:na:na:2&code=PLA15&ds_c=[*Campaign*]&ds_cid=[*CampagnID*]&ds_ag=[*Adgroup*]&product_id=2ee6c78646e8466e99316f503cb832ac&product_partition_id=179710248780&gclid=Cj0KEQiAtK3DBRCBxt-Yxduq5p4BEiQAbFiaPepgrEzL6p1IjoDGBiEh5hTRVV_O2qJykttVT9V_kjUaAuiw8P8HAQ That one has a size of 75" x 39" X 15" which should fit nicely in the Transit LWB. 14. Got some more work done over the holidays. I took parts from an entertainment center that was being tossed out and repurposed one of the bigger drawers from it. I also reused the drawer slides from it. The drawer now serves as the step on the right hand side. This is the raw part of the construction. Pic 1 is with the drawer closed with the step on top. Pic 2 is with the drawer pulled out and the hinged step open. It's a small drawer for things I want handy Pic 3 is the drawer out, and step closed showing the extra storage area behind the step. This will be accessible when the drawer is pulled out. The far back of the drawer can be accessed from the passenger sliding door. Will store things not used on a regular basis but carried for longer trips or overnights.
  15. Paul, I have a 2016 Titanium LWB. So far I love it. I'm modifying it so I can also sleep in it and carry gear and a search K9. I am 5' 10" and really wouldn't anything shorter to sleep in than the LWB model. But I've decided too lose three of the seats in the back however for my purposes. I wanted to use the space and so I pretty much built a false floor so I could store equipment under it and sleep on top of it. The 6 seater LWB would work I think for you. The seats do fold flat to the floor for an occasional overnight climbing trip. I would however recommend an additional mat on top of the folded seats. I ordered a mat like the one below to install in my mod. It would also work great for you as a secondary layer once you fold the seats down. You could trim it to size and just roll it up with a bungee and store it when you have the seats up. It's pretty cheap as far as matting goes, (they include free shipping), and reasonably thick as well which gives some extra support over the area between the seats where the thin fake floor is when the seats are folded down. You'd have to trim off about a foot from one side of it and then some off the length of it. But I like how it's already cut in way to be rolled up for storage. Tiller. http://www.greatmats.com/martial-arts-mats/roll-out-mats-5x10.php PS> You are only talking a 15" difference between the SWB and LB model. You'll be glad you have that extra 15"!
  16. These have now been sold. Thank you!! I purchased a 2016 LWB Titanium in October. It was on the lot so I didn't spec the vehicle. i have removed the 3rd row seats which are two leather bucket seats. These have the panels attached to their backs but should be able to be removed if you don't want them. They were only in the vehicle for about the first 4-6 weeks. I'm selling them for $150.00 each. Available in SE PA. No bolts for these as I am using them in my mods. I will include the 2 third row seat belts. Let me know if you are interested or have any questions. Tiller
  17. I just bought a 2016 TC about 8 wks ago and I have the same problem. My Ford dealer says they promise they'll figure it out for me. (i.e. how to do the global up). It's important for me since I haul a SAR dog. Having the global up and global is down is very convenient when at training or a search and I take the dog in and out of the car. Also good for when we make quick stops for gas, coffee etc.. I often want all the windows down a bit when I go in somewhere, and all to go up when I come back out. They know I bought the TC for this purpose and that particular feature is very important to me and they are very supportive of our local fire and police so I expect that they'll figure it out soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  18. You're in the EU. Different place. Different values. Testing and evaluations are one thing. Day-to-day use when these things are out and alone is something else. If they are limited to very exclusive sections of the city they might work. But in most of Washington, DC outside of the immediate capital area, if anyone thinks there is anything of value in them, they'll simply toss a blanket over it, take it to a back alley and disable the electronics faster than you can blink. Don't be surprised if the GPS units will be available for sale on the black market within an hour. Once they steal one to get one to evaluate, the rest will be sitting ducks.
  19. It might work in some locations. In Washington DC however these will simply be looked at as moving practice targets. I'll be interested to see the first reactions to these being on the street.
  20. Welcome. I have pretty much the same thing! Same color too.
  21. You can make it pretty flat. The seats will remove but there are seat wells to deal with. To make it fully flat you'd have to put a raised floor over that area. This is for what I know of for the ones with the middle bucket seats. If you have the middle bench seats, that might be different.
  22. I would recommend not getting the panoramic roof. Yes, it's nice. I bought my titanium off the lot and it already had it along with the roof rack. The only people that really benefit from it are the passengers in the back. As a driver you can't really turn and look up through it. If I was ordering it, I would never get one. I would instead suggest you use the money you save and see about getting a smaller after market sun roof that open and closes which would allow heat to escape when parked and keep the car cooler. With the panoramic you also lose the rear interior overhead storage bin which if you do trade shows I'd recommend you max out storage space. Also with the panoramic roof, the interior lighting layout is modified. You only get a single LED center roof light just at the rear of the panoramic roof. It is woefully inadequate for lighting up the interior. I will eventually be adding additional interior lighting to mine to compensate. Again, if you do trade shows, and find yourself loading and unloading at night, the standard panoramic roof lighting will leave you in the dark. Tiller
  23. You really think they'll be delivering food? In Washington, D.C? That's a laugh. I can promise the rate of attrition will be huge an no food will get to where it's supposed to go. If it's on the ground, it's toast!!
