  1. I assume that, besides any window openings, the basic body structure is the same in both the cargo and passenger versions. In my cargo,I have relocated 2 of D rings(from the floor mounts) up to the rear seat belt bolt holes. There are multiple threaded holes throught the structure and most likely exist in the passenger version also but covered by the floor mats and trim. In my 2016 LWB,the false floor was bolted in but later models may be different.
  2. I got many results in a youtube search "Transit connect headlight removal" No guarantees
  3. Just a guess, maybe 250 lbs and I would not recommend it. The rack and the roof handled it fine but the van felt top heavy. I regularly carry a good sized Yakima pod while camping, occasionally a 17 ft canoe, framing lumber and sheet goods (with a support frame) and ladders. The biggest problem is the noise.
  4. I have a small trailer also.Presently hauling next years firewood a third of a cord at a time. With tools and misc odds and ends there's not much room inside a TC. I also have a roof rack.
  5. Sarah, what is that triangular piece on the roof just above the drivers window? Is it a fairing?
  6. In my 2016,I have used it to play music stored on my tablet and directions from Google Maps
  7. My father in law was from northern Maine, Everyone up there had a beater to drive in the winter. Actually, vehicles are alot better than when I had my first car.Plastic inner fenders and plastic panels under the engine compartment help alot but most of my vehicles still die from rot.
  8. No clue about the the 1st gen.Was there a 4 pasenger model? In the 2nd,there is no extra space "under the seats".The extra space is the foot well for when rear seats are installed in the pasenger van.In the 2 pasenger model, this space is covered by sheet metal to make the rear floor continuous from the rear doors to the back of the front seats.
  9. Exactly what my dealer used when my hitch was installed but they had the sense to run the wire through the fire wall, under the door kick plates and then following the tail light wires.Inline fuse to battery clamp. 6 years trailer use in harsh conditions and no issues other than normal wear and tear. Take the time to run the wire inside the van and include a foot of extra wire in the rear for if you ever need to repace the receptacle.
  10. Bought mine here. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-recovery-hook-6m2z17a954a I'm glad I had bought one when I learned to turn off traction control the hard way. I was traveling a farm road in the spring and I needed some momentum to get thruogh a muddy spot.Traction Control subtlety applied my brakes until I was stopped in the mud and had to call for a tractor

  12. Yup,that's basically what I get now. I'm running McAfee anti virus etc but up until last week I had no problems accessing the forum for the last 6 yrs. I was just wondering if anything had changed at the server end or if it was on my end.
  13. Have not been able to sign in to the group on my tablet for the last week or so. I get this error page " This server could not prove that it is fordtransitconnectforum.com; its security certificate is from fordtransitconnectforum.qyy.qkg.mybluehost.me. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection. Proceed to fordtransitconnectforum.com (unsafe)" Can you help? Thanks Jjackgrimshaw@sbcglobal.net
  14. Fifty : That part looks identical to the piece that holds the fullsized spare on my 2016 LWB. Changed a front tire in my driveway, what a b***h! Had to dig out an old jack to put under the dealer installed trailer hitch to get enough clearance to drag out the factory spare because I had already removed the flat and the van was sitting on factory jack. Note to self: get spare ready first! Also had to get the wife to slowly crank down winch while I dragged the tire out far enough to see how to unhook above bracket. And then 20 min with manual,WD40 and flashlight(in the middle of the day) to actually unhook it. If I wasn't so smart I would have called Triple A.
  15. You could just cover it. A plug for Weather Tech liners. My daughter bought me a set when my TC was new. I have a gravel driveway, wear work boots with a semi aggressive tread and deal with mud and snow on a regular basis. These liners collect all the mess and is easily removed to dump contents in the bushes. https://www.weathertech.com/floorliner-digitalfit/
  16. The way I look at it,tongue weight is measured at the ball or pintal hitch,in other words a set distance from the mounting bolts. 500 lbs at "x" distance from mounts for towing is fine but a 500 lb load with center of mass at 3"x" distance would exceed the rating. As the engineers would say "There's a formula for that."
  17. If you live near a metro area with a few auto dealers, ask who they use. There is bound to be a local shop that can give you a good price. Back in the late 90's,my daughter backed into a garbage truck and shattered the rear window in the old Taurus wagon she was driving. She and her then boyfriend got a replacement rear lift up door from the bone yard for less than the price of the glass and before she even told me. It was a different color but that made it easy to find the car in a parking lot.
  18. It's been almost 6 yrs but I seem to remember smaller, less robust tie downs in the very rear in my 2016 LWB. My plywood is held down by just 2 bolts in the tie down holes by the middle shelf. Because I wanted no breaks in the plywood,I moved the D rings and bolts to what I think are the seatbelt mounting holes on the side walls.Much easier access for ratchet straps or bungies. It helps to have a headboard to secure against.
  19. First you need to refine your request. Are you looking for the middle seat that goes between the two front seats that was available at one time in some countries or are you looking for 2nd row seats? Second ,include your location. Why should I,in Connecticut, reply to a request from someone in the UK.The cost of shipping would be prohibitive. You may find someone in your own town who knows a salvage yard 10 miles(or km) away. Thirdly, have you done a google.A quick search for "2nd row seats 2010 TC" gave me over a dozen hits. Good luck in your search!
  20. Honey bees are very rarely aggressive and only become defensive if you are careless. The only thing between me and the bees is the headboard, which,as seen in the above photo,is just a bit higher than the headrest so I am out of sight. I wear no protection driving other than long pants. All of my bee yards are South of me and I generally work S to N. Bees are attracted to light so most of the time they cluster on the rear windows. There has been times when I will pull over to open the doors and brush them off of the windows. Unlike the person in this picture,I ride with the window open so any stragglers up front can be tossed out.You can tell she/he is driving west because the bees are on the sunny window. (To me this is stupidity, not because of the bees on the windows, but because the hive is not secured. In the case of an accident,I would not want to be anywhere near that car.)
  21. Odd comment from one who deletes his own posts.Whatever floats your boat. Heres a shot of my rear window after a few dozen honey bees shit on the inside of the glass after my last load of honey supers. It's a work truck. Over 1200 lbs of pure, local honey so far this year.
  22. Like Wind guy,I also used the foam for insulation and installed a piece of angle cross ways behind the seats(using existing holes) and 2 hinged plywood doors to create a (not so) secret compartment. This created an area right behind the seat for my permenant collection of stuff and I built a plywood box in the rear for temporary hauling. The hinged plywood piece to the right serves as a head board and can be folded down for a sleeping platform
  23. The strength of the fasteners depends on the size of the bolt, the type of fastener, the thickness of the sheet metal and the number of fasteners that you use. For a good discussion of plus nuts vs rivnuts. There is a 3rd type called wellnuts that are lower strength but removable. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-24-x-10-Brass-Brass-Well-Nut/301249 All come in various sizes and will need some investigation for your particular use.
