A dozen years ago, backup cameras were $$$. Today, all the parts are less than $20. Cost is no longer a factor. It is simply wise to have the technology available. I recall when you could buy a car with or without power steering and power brakes. I still think that you can drive without power steering. You can stop without ABS. People slowed down to a safe speed without traction control. Today, every car comes with a camera. You can't fight progress. May as well argue that the square wheel was a better design.

This is why it is so hard to park a truck, a van, and a motorcycle in the neighborhood. Entire blocks that are "Law Enforcement Vehicle Only". Then the protestors occupy the block. I reserve my own opinions on national security, borders, et cetera. No place on this forum for that type of discussion. I'm just upset about them at my front door. Streets are closed off to through traffic.. Hundreds of parking spaces are lost.

It makes sense. A cage is also handy for transporting dogs. I love dogs. I hate how dogs jump around in the car, and jump into your lap when you're driving.

It's a front wheel drive van. Those tires should work. Assuming that where you live, the government operates snow removal machines on the public roads, and as you say, you don't get an enormous amount of snow. And you have the sense to own some sort of snow traction device, and use it when needed.

Mine is a 2016, long wheel base wagon, in XL trim. Basically what would be delivered into someone's corporate fleet, or part of the government fleet. Cloth upholstery, rubber floors, AM/FM radio without SYNC, no fog or cornering lights, plastic interior. No vehicle is truly stripped down anymore. This one came with the useless mirror heater. Useless to me, since I don't have snow to melt off the mirror. -

I doubt it. Imagine cost of shipping versus locally sourced textiles and cheap labor. Hard to judge what the cost is to the environment, to produce unwanted parts, ship them across the globe, then destroy them. It's all politics. And not even Donald Trump's politics. Can't blame Trump & a handful of Starburst candy for The Chicken Tax. The same Chicken Tax which inspired Subaru to send that Brat pickup truck with the seats in the truck bed facing backward. -

The seller supposedly lost the other key. My Transit Connect came with 4 keys. Is that the norm these days? -
Every time you bring up tires.......you will get more personal opinions than you need.

I never wanted a cockpit cage until that first time that I applied the brakes with sudden firmness, and cargo shifted forward. Okay, it took me more than once to learn my lesson. Smaller items have traveled under the seat into the footwell......hitting my feet, obstructing the pedals, once a bundle of pipe came forward right onto my accelerator as I was braking. Large heavy items have slammed into the back of my seat. I've been hit in the back of the head a few times. A co-worker had cargo fly into his windshield. Those dividers are lifesavers.

Yet, a lot of people, myself included, buy All Seasons for a number of reasons. I live in a climate that has not seen snow since the 70's. So winter tires are out. Tire shops laugh at you if you ask for tires with studs. We are mostly dry, but go from drought to heavy rainfall. I buy tires based upon pricing and availability. This means that I end up with whatever the lowest price is, at the moment that I need to buy tires. No considerations for performance factors because I am not driving a sports car. As per usual, snow tire, mud tires, aggressive tread, are all more expensive. If the tire has the correct load rating for my car, that's my biggest concern. I don't care if the warranty is for 40,000 or 65,000 miles. I am the driver who has never lost control in bad weather because my tires were on sale, and I had a coupon. When it's wet, I drive slower. When I have a full load, and the weight balance is different, I drive slower. There is a market for All Season tires. Most drivers do not want to own and store 2 sets of tires, and then twice a year, have to change them out. Maybe they don't have anywhere to store those extra wheels and tires. Or they are just too lazy to change the tires. Or like me, they were on sale and there was a coupon. With All Season, you are not going off-road, you are not going to the track, you are not going into a snow storm, you are not going into the mud bog. But you are getting into your daily driver, for your daily commute, on a moderately maintained public road, and your part of the country sees zero snow. So All Season is not ideal for any or every condition. It does not have the best speed rating, traction, or rolling resistance. Yet, a lot of people buy them. Almost like a Swiss Army Knife. Every tool on a Swiss Army Knife is not the best of anything. But it is okay, and may work, when there is nothing else available. Just yesterday, I used a pair of locking pliers because I didn't have a set of nut drivers. Come to think of it, unless the tires have a performance aspect, every other tire in the shop is rated "All Season". At least that how it is where I live. Tire shops will have performance tires for fast cars, aggressive lug tread pattern for trucks, then all the other tires will be rated "All Season". I have no idea what your level of snow is. 5", 10", 4'? I don't know what your driving ability is in snow. With your front wheel drive Transit Connect, do you think that you can maintain control of your vehicle with All Season tires & snow chains? Those tires could work.

Possible. Your van left the assembly line, and shipped to U.S.A. with windows. The windows were removed once the vans arrived in the U.S.A., and then those panels were glued in. All Transit Connects arrived in U.S.A. as wagons. Then they are stripped down and converted to vans. Unfortunately, all of those seats, windows, interior, headliners, et cetera, are destroyed and recycled. To my knowledge, none of those parts are saved for resale. Buyers of vans who want windows are left to look in the aftermarket, while the OEM parts are being disposed of. -
It may very well be that your alignment was bad. There is always the option of having the vehicle inspected by another shop.

How are you guys running wire through the firewall
Fifty150 replied to Bfp's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Not a very good solution, but I bought one of those light bar mounts that attaches to the license plate. And since I was already running wires, and the plastic trim was removed, I added side markers to the circuit. -
The difficult part is driving the car down the hallway, and through the apartment door. Fellow tenants are already reporting it, every time that I do that with my Harley. Property management posted a notice in the laundry room, stating that tenants are not allowed to rev their V-Twins after 9 o'clock. My burnouts in the hallways has already done a number on the high tread carpeting. It is a unique location. There is a flock of hundreds of wild parrots, which became the subject of a movie. The Peregrine Falcons that live in the area provide a side show when they hunt the pigeons. Coyotes keep the raccoon & feral cat population in check, as well as toy breed dogs that the rich ladies like to flaunt. Animal Care & Control officers have told me that local surveillance cameras have picked up a mountain lion in the area. Strange that the dog catchers in this town also have badges, guns, and powers of arrest.
