Taxi Driver

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2012 Transit Connect, CNG engine, with 327,000 miles on it to use as a taxi in Orange County, California. That’s a lot of miles but it didn’t cost much and it runs really well. It has been used as a Taxi since new and has had regular service and repair.   Really, my only complaint, other than the lack of power, is the radio reception in fringe areas. Maybe a new antenna. The power issue isn’t really an issue as I’m getting used to it. Anyway, it makes a pretty good taxi.

Lots of miles but wonder if the CNG helps.  Gasoline has some blowby and does contaminate the oil, haven't thought about it but if CNG doesn't contaminate the oil as much maybe better oil life and lubrication.  If its had regular repair and maintenance should be pretty good but Id expect to have to fix some things.  Keep us posted on how it performs.  Lots of knowledgable folks here.

If I think mine is slow I go out and ride my Honda Metropolitan scooter.  After that everything is fast!

The CNG definitely helps it is a very clean fuel.  The other thing that helps is Orange county Ca!

I drove a Checker cab in the early 1980s in New York.  A Transit Connect is a far better vehicle in all ways.

A Transit Connect with today's technology is almost better than any car made in the early 80's.  After owning a Mustang II in the late 70's, I moved into a Renault Le Car in the early 80's.  Sort of what happens when you take too many Quaaludes.  Of course, I still blame all of that on Jimmy Carter.

A Mustang II and then a Le Car???  Gotta blame that on something I suppose . . . . Jimmy Carter s as good as any I guess, but I'll BET he's never driven either, let alone bought one!!

I was under the impression that former presidents received Secret Service protection and are chauffered in bulletproof cars. Which is why none of the presidents know what the price of gas is.
