Dacflyer
My van has the Sync radio ( green screen ) Picture included in post.. a few days ago it got to where the AUX input mode was not functioning as normal..It would start with FM radio.. you'd have to push AUX to get it back to that mode. this morning i start the van and it's only working in AM or Fm mode, and at times if you flip from FM1 to FM2, 1 or the other would tune to FM, but it sounded like AM stations. the steering wheel control that you press to get the voice to speak ( Please Say A Command ) she's quit as well.. I mainly use the AUX input connected to my XM radio.. I have isolated to see if it was the XM radio or the cable going to the radio.. all is good, The SYNC is what is the issue. It is as if the radio is ok,, but the SYNC part had died. What to do ? Suggestions ? I am experienced in electronics etc.. So I'm open to suggestions.. Has anyone else had this issue ? Get something more modern. 5 hours ago, Dacflyer said: I mainly use the AUX input connected to my XM radio.. You can listen to XM with an app on your cell phone. A modern radio will use Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The newest radios connect to your phone without wires. Your van radio is fairly simple to remove. The plastic trim panel pops off with trim removal tools. Remove the wire harnesses at the top, The radio is held in place with 4 bolts. Disconnect the wire harness and antenna at the back of the radio.

Fifty150
It would be less expensive to install a good radio, as opposed to trying to replace it with the same unit. You won't find another one of those sold as a new radio. Your dealer could contact dealerships across the country looking for that part. Someone may have it collecting dust in their warehouse. They will charge you a lot more than it's worth. The easy solution these days, is go to Crutchfield.
Dacflyer
thanks.. But I like the simple controls, newer radios have too many buttons or menus you must traverse. I know my radio, I can do most what ever without looking at it.. I use mostly the BT or my AUX input ( XM Radio connected to it ) Is everything contained in the radio ? the voice command thing ? the USB AUX.... or is that in another module ? Because when i looked, the harness goes off into the abyss under the dash.. If there is another module, i'd zero in on that more than the radio itself.. I know I could get something more modern, but then it's not what i want.. And i don't use a smart phone either. only because of data rates. Don Ridley
You need to troubleshoot the ACM and APIM.. Lots to learn about how they work. You will need Forscan software and an adapter to connect your PC to the vehicle. Start by researching Forscan on this forum or just go to forscan.org. Forscan may show which module is not working. Then replacement involves buying a junkyard module and loading your configuration using Forscan. This is all relatively inexpensive but time consuming. A good project to get familiar with the electronics and how to troubleshoot these vehicles. windguy
