  1. Keep in mind these are pictures from Europe. They have always had a top hinged tailgate as an option. As for the mirrors, although I added the current UK mirrors ( I, like jimmbomb, also really like them) to my Transit Connect, I do not expect this new style to make it over to us.

  3. Not that FSWerks needs me to defend their engineering, but, if you are refering to Sunnysmith's (a very nice guy) first turbo engine, he sucked in water through the air intake and hydrolocked it and it blew. Sunnysmith is the only forum member I know of who actually turbo charged their Transit Connect. Look at his posted YouTube video's. It performs like we all wish our Transit Connects would perform!
  4. This topic has been discussed since the first posters back at the end of 2009. Poor radio reception was a hot topic and , of course, antennas were discussed. Looking back on those postings, I am not suprised none of us suggested a shark fin antenna since we were all looking for better reception. In your case, here is the web site, http://www.visualgarage.com/home.html .I would only recommend the shark fin antenna if you receive stations without any antenna connected! It is really no better than a stubby 2 inch antenna, but looks very good, especially painted to match your transit connect! It resolves the antenna height issue, but only if you live in a metropolitan area with strong radio signals.
  5. It comes packed with the jack and tools. You can also order it from Ford if you need more than one, although Ford is supplying them in black if ordered.
  6. Adrian Steel still has the door panels (without netting) to give you a few more inches of room carrying 6 foot ladders inside the van. Ford has a door panel for the right rear door with netting standard in the XLT premium model, meaning you can order it from Ford. I have not checked, but door panels with netting may still be available on eBay.
  7. The TSB's are posted on line. I checked 2010-2012 on two different web sites, there are no TSB's for wheel bearings.
  8. I purchased my UK mirrors from eBay UK. It took at least ten attempts from various sellers to get two that would sell to the US. The mounting plate to the door from 2003 forward is the same, UK or US. There are a few items you should know before trying a mirror swap. The bottom convex glass is fixed in place for the proper "blind spot" view for drivers sitting on the RIGHT side. The right side mirror I bought was a perfect plug and play, five minutes and it was installed. The blind spot glass did not need to be changed. The left side was not as easy. You will have to remove the glass and change its angle, or change the angle the entire mirror mounts to the door bracket to be usable from our LEFT side driving position. I changed the mounting angle. Why the right side did not need any surgery on the blind spot glass or mounting angle, I do not know. As for the harness, this is just a guess, but I think they match. If not, rewiring is simple compared to changing that bottom glass! One more thing, I priced new mirrors (manual) from a UK Ford dealer by way of Germany (so the bottom glass works for driving position on the left side). Both sides plus shipping cost $310. If you have it in the budget, that is the way to go. Of course, the electric mirrors would cost more. Then it would be plug and play. Hope my info helps. Good Luck.
  9. I just posted a picture of my UK mirror installation on my 2010 Transit Connect. My van came with manual mirrors and I always wanted to replace them with the UK style. The cost brand new from a Ford dealer in the UK, including shipping, was out of the question. The UK has three types available, manual, like mine, a manual cabled remote (which was never offered in the US), and the electric remote, same as ours. I finally found them used from a dealer that would send them to the US. They are the manual cabled remote, so it took a little engineering to install them, but after 3 hours the result is posted in my gallery. It worked out very well. See my photo gallery for more info.

UK style outside mirror with flat and convex glass and manual remote, installed on my 2010 Transit Connect that came with mirrors with no remote.
  11. Here in the US, we only have the gas engine Transit Connect, so, although the few UK members we have might have an idea, your best help would be the UK Transit Connect forum at fordtransit.org. They have thousands of members, all with deisels. Good Luck!
  12. Yes, it is on a separate fuse, F174, 15 amps. F174 is the 3rd fuse from the right, on the second row from the bottom, in the Central Junction Box (CJB), known to all as the "fuse box".

Italian black lug nut covers to go with my UK Ford center wheel caps.
  14. Here is the URL for the electrical diagram for the Transit Connect. It is from a previous posting, from whom, I forget, but will credit as soon as I find out who. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/topics/2010/2010_Transit_Connect.pdf The diagram shows the best ground terminals. As for routing the cable, I have used the channels along the left side of the Transit Connect rather than down the center. The left side because I have run my various cables through the plugs above the pedals.
  15. Welcome Peter! The only thing for sure about delivery time is NOT TO ORDER a Transit Connect! Captsea, Roger Baker and Hollowwood all waited 7 MONTHS! Try and have your dealer find one at another dealer and swap for it. If none are available within a decent driving distance, you might have to order one to your specifications, just beware of the wait no matter what the dealer says. The only other info I have that has been confirmed is that some options are added at the port, which slows down the delivery. The real issue is not how fast they get out of the port, it is how long it take to GET to the port. I hope you buy a Transit Connect. I have been enjoying mine. Good Luck!
  16. Here is the pricing on the mirrors used in the UK. For manual mirrors, including shipping ($75.00) from the UK, $194.40. The funny thing is (or sad depending on how you look at it) the cost of the mirror assembly is about the same in the UK as in the US, except, our mirrors are half the size!!!!!! Electric/Heated mirrors add $80.00 to the above price.
  17. Funny you ask jimmbomb (or should I say Shep?). That is what I want to do. I found a mirror parts supplier on ebay UK (located in the UK) that would sell to the US. The problem was they would not confirm it would fit on the door. I think they were just being carefull. Brand new, the mirror assembly is very expensive so I continue to search for a aftermarket supplier.
  18. BT1Z-17K707-A is the right side match to BT1Z-17K707-D left side for the power mirrors on the 2011. BT1Z-17K707-C is the right side for a manual mirror.
  19. First.....I also want a diesel. Second.......Here are the facts (as I see them) why we will not have a diesel until, at least, model year 2015 (if then). Ford does not have a desiel engine that meets US standards that will fit into the Transit Connect. The diesels in the UK models, besides not meeting US standards, are slugs. The best posted 0-60mph (0-100 km) for a UK model is 14.4 seconds! That is 2 seconds slower than the US model. Who would want that engine?? Euro 6 emission standards (European Union/EU) go into effect September 2014. They are close enough to the US standards so Ford would not have to do major modifications to any EU diesel engines (the UK uses the EU standards) to pass US emission testing. Third...... Is it worth Fords time/effort/money to add a diesel engine to the Transit Connect? The Flex and the Transit Connect are tied for the second lowest sales of any Ford vehicles in the US. Only the largest E series vans sell at a slower rate. Finally...... I would trade in my 2010 Transit Connect for a diesel model IF IT HAD THE FOLLOWING.......automatic transmission (at least 5 speeds), 0-60 faster than what we have now, and 35 to 38 miles per gallon (I am now getting 25 to 28).
  20. Good question. The high pressure connection is right out in the open, to the right of the radiator ( left and right as you are sitting in the Transit Connect). The low pressure side is on the top of the suction accumulator. The right side fender splash shield needs to come off. The suction accumulator is bolted to the frame rail.
  21. Jimmbomb, that someone is me. Look at my reply to your same question in the "Towing with the Transit Connect" posting. It has a few more ideas for UK and European accessories.
