  1. Fifty ... have you been holding your breath? As I understand it, you have to be holding your breath for Nigerian deliveries to arrive.
  2. Mine doesn't, but my wife's car requires pressure on the brake pedal before it'll turn over.
  3. Just messin' back, OldSchool. As to spandex and a helmet ... well, there's only two reason people look at an old guy on a bicycle. 1) They're laughing at the old fart on a bike, or 2) They're laughing at the clothes that old fart is wearing. I'm all for wearing spandex ... so I know they're laughing at the clothes !!!
  4. Actually, the fact that there is a core charge suggests that the reflectors are just modifications to the original piece. Now I am interested in seeing if it's possible to get replacement reflectors and add them to my black plastic pieces.
  5. Based on years of experience with other vehicles ... in my opinion: Yes, it's a coincidence. Your starter problem has nothing to do with the dome light fuse. Diagnose it as a separate problem.
  6. Bio-diesel is a placebo. As with ethanol, the cost to produce it is prohibitive ... but that's hidden from us by the government's subsidies. Also, it's less "energetic" than petroleum diesel, so takes more to cover the same distance. The black smoke of petroleum diesel is straight carbon, and yes, there's less of that from bio-diesel. But straight carbon soot isn't an atmospheric pollutant. It settles to the ground rather quickly. As with ethanol in gasoline, bio-diesel is not good for the environment.
  7. ? Just pee in the reservoir. Urea is injected to catalyze NOx into nitrogen and water. Diesels will always be more powerful than gas engines, but the trade off is they will never be as EPA compliant. They're also noisier, since they run on the "knocking and pinging" we hate in four strokes. Stick with gas, in my opinion.
  8. I'm ready to step in ... if we're going to make this a political thread. As a staunch independent with conservative leanings, I've got strong, non-political party opinions on every issue facing this Country. Are we going there? Are we? ? Please!
  9. Genetic samples from "Jurassic Park R&D"?
  10. I've spent a few weeks out there every year for over a decade. So far, I've not seen any girls that were worth the gas prices or other restrictions. The line, "I wish they all could be California girls." wasn't about beauty, I think. It was about "easy". Fishing is good all over, too. Nothing special. The only thing I've seen in California that's better than anywhere else in the Country ... that Northern California Coastline. Beautiful. Other than that ... not a fan.
  11. We always used an electric blanket. Inexpensive, no worries about water, since you cover the engine and then close the hood. Only used one if the temperatures were going to be below 0 degrees F. Two minutes to tuck it in around the engine ... 30 seconds to remove it and fold it up. No engine modifications necessary.
  12. Okay ... maybe "a bicycle" was an exaggeration. But I will not pay that much for transportation. I'll buy a use vehicle first. I can keep a vehicle running, even rebuild an engine a few times and still not have $30,000.00 in a used vehicle. My current T.C. (paid $22,000.00 out the door) should be good to go for at least 10 years. I doubt I'll be around long enough to bother buying another vehicle.
  13. ? That's almost a third the price of my house !!! I'll start riding a bicycle before I'll ever pay that much for a vehicle.
  14. I like the extra locks on the sliding side doors.
  15. Nothing good IS left coast. ? Oops ... present company excluded, of course. ?
  16. My last suggestion ... if it's not correct, then you're probably screwed. Make sure the bulb matches the recommended bulb wattage and element location. Since the problem started with the replacement of the bulbs ... I'm still sticking with that area being the problem.
  17. If you have a Northern Tool Store near you ... check them out. They sell LOTS of single item sockets and bits for ratchets.
  18. I've got a 2017 cargo version. There are no extra wires anywhere under the side panels in the cargo area. I've had those covers off more times than I can remember in the last couple of months
  19. If it's not a bad bulb, it's likely a bad wire or connection. If the lights worked before replacing, then they should work after. Either the new bulb isn't good, or the connector isn't making good contact, or the wires have been opened.
  20. Another day on the water ... with poor results. It's been raining, and water levels are high ... that's my excuse !!!
  21. I do believe the topic was over on dogbert's last post, and he's satisfied with his repairs now.
  22. suck, squeeze, bang, blow. I am not doubting ... but what were the numbers on the compression test? Fuel pressure can be "correct" for idle but still not keeping up with use. Bad fuel filter ... or bad fuel. To justify my questions and suggestions ... I teach people how to work on motorcycle and outboard engines. Been doing so for 21 years. 1) Air 2) Fuel 3) Compression 4) Timed ignition. You're engine's not running well, one of those four items is incorrect. If you've fully verified the mechanical operation (airflow and compression), then the problem must be electronic (fuel delivery and timed ignition).
  23. Any internal combustion engine ... only needs four things to run. 1) fuel 2) air Fuel and air in the right ratio ... if there's not enough fuel, it'll be most noticeable in the upper rpm ranges ... and it'll run rough. If there's not enough air, it will run okay up to the point there's no more air available, at which point it just won't go faster ... and it will run smoothly at that rpm. 3) compression This is the measurement of all thing mechanical. If there's a loss of compression, then you have metal/seal failures in the cylinder/engine. It's the most basic of diagnostic tests, and the one that nobody seems to do anymore. You don't list it as having been checked, but it's what most of your symptoms point to. 4) timed ignition Quite simply ... if you're losing spark, then the engine runs rough, spits back, back fires, etc.
  24. What!? ? The trailer's better than the alternative ... put 'em on a leash and make 'em run beside the car! Either way, they aren't IN my vehicle !!!
