Gull wing doors and pneumatic suspensions belong in that "70/80's trash heap" you mentioned in another thread !!!

Spandex can look good, on the right body. (I prefer to look at females in spandex, but Wife likes guys for some reason) Just because the majority of Americans DON'T look good in it, doesn't make spandex a bad thing.

As I said ... he wasn't paying attention in the first place. A police officer tells you to get down, or to put your hands up ... running is NOT doing either of those. If you're running, you have a reason ... and a police officer has the right to take you out. That cop didn't "shoot him in the back" ... he stopped a criminal. If you haven't done anything wrong, you don't run. If you're running, you've done something wrong ... and will do something wrong in the future. If a perp is standing there, doing nothing, and a cop shot him in the back ... THAT would be on the cop, and he/she would be held accountable.

I sympathize with your plight.

If a cop has to shoot you in the back, YOU weren't paying enough attention to begin with.

Our insurance company just asked us, "Are you going to use this for personal use or business?" We said personal. No problem, and then we were informed that, in the case of an accident, if we're found to be using it for commercial purposes, the insurance would be null and void. -
Criminal !!!

Yep ... I don't have a problem with rednecks, in general, since in may ways I am one. But when you're jacking up Camaros like that !!! That's sacrilege !!! AND Ugly !!!

Oh yeah ... just opinion. Here's another example ...

Ugh. One of the worst sights on the highways ... a van or truck that looks like a Tonka toy, with wheels extended out beyond the wheel wells.

My 2017 wasn't stripped, Fifty. There's no holes or bracings for seat or seat belts in my back of mine. When did they change that? -
Only in big cities, Fifty. Small town America still has schools that teach the way we were ... which is actually a large percentage of the kids who "make it" in this world. But, no work on "customers" vehicles, etc. ... for teh reason I stated above.
-
Fifty, there used to be places like that all over. Almost every town I lived in, back in the 70s/80s and a little into the 90s, had one or more community colleges that offered free or low cost repairs to the general public. But then lawyers, as always, screwed everything up for everyone. A place like you describe, a "a non-profit garage" is almost impossible today. The insurance required for liability would be astronomical. Actually, surprises me that FOR profit garages still exist, based on the litigious environment we live in.

Most tire companies are open to pro-rated replacements. Not through warranties, since those are ALWAYS for manufacturer's defects, but through Road Hazard insurance. It's an inexpensive add on at purchase, and WELL worth it. Road Hazard usually even covers abnormal wear from alignment issues, since those can be blamed on potholes taking out your alignment.

Oh ... My list for people in that category is enormous. I can't write the list out, since I'm trying to cut down on paper use and the list would need a small forest's worth.

AMEN to that. This is EXACTLY what I always come back to. Too many people. It's the reason for 99% of the problems on this planet. Has anyone NOT seen "Avengers: Infinity War" that wants to? If so, spoiler alert (sort of). Thanos ISN'T the bad guy. He's the savior of the Universe. If only it were that easy ... click, half of all populations, gone.

I am just mentioning this because I don't know what you actually have. Wife's car has pressure sensors, as my Freestar did. I could page through my menu and get a page with pressures on the tires. My vehicle before that one used wheel speed comparison to tell me a had a low pressure problem. I'd get low pressure warnings when the wheels were cold, and they'd go away after the tires warmed up.

There are a LOT of things the government should stay out of. Banning the sale of plastic straws? I applaud the companies who are phasing out or eliminating plastic straws voluntarily. I laugh at, deride and pity the people who decided the idea that the punishment for plastic straw violations is stricter than for driving while under the influence of marijuana. Distracted driving HAS been around for as long as driving has. I am sure the first vehicle owners looked around to see if anyone was watching them ... noticing their newfangled machine. (Just like people today who put a few modifications on their sports car, then drive slow so everybody has to notice it) But texting and talking on phones seems to take more attention than some other distractions. Or, at least, people don't recognize the depth of the distraction until it's too late. Either way, saying we shouldn't regulate it is very short sighted. I agree with the above statement: "The distracted driving law allows the officer to cite you for any distraction: singing, dancing, eating, using hair spray with a cigarette dangling from your lips,......not limited to just talking and texting." And I think the fine of $1000.00 would be acceptable. Make it hurt, so people will stop doing it. The highways belong to the governments. That is one place where their control should be absolute. Speeding cameras, red light cameras and stricter enforcement would all be welcomed in my opinion. This goes to another thread, where we were talking about fully automated cars. I can hardly wait ... let's GET there !!!
