  1. Curious why you don't put the black wheel back on and just go about your business? Is it flat or something?
  2. I am going to try the Mr. Gasket 2486 center caps. Married my stock black rims with some 245/50/16s and need something to cover the ugly centers. First criteria is they must be chrome, the black Euro caps are just butt ugly to me (just my opinion). Ordered four from Amazon for $25 so if they end up not working I haven't lost too much. I'm on the fence about adding some beauty rims (already have these) or not. They may end up making the whole look too "busy".
  3. Here is one. There are some more of some different wheels on Wheel Size Question thread. Pardon an old man for not being organized and having them collected in one place.
  4. Unless the meter was already installed I don't think there IS any way to do it. On just about any car. Count yourself as lucky that you found one with low mileage. Most I've seen have yakka miles. 5150's suggestions are good ones.
  5. I'm running some old (2000-2002) Jaguar alloy wheels. I think it may have to do with exactly where the valve stem is positioned. Tire shop said nope....they wouldn't be able to get the tire on without busting the sensor. I take their word for it, I could be wrong. Of course that only half the issue anyway.
  6. Mine has the option to just say "OK" and the warning goes away on the display. Light does stay on but I have leaned to ignore that. Half the wheels I run aren't sensor compatible so no matter what I do I can't fix that. If you didn't have to go through the "re-learning" process it wouldn't be so annoying for the wheels that actually do have sensors. Plug and play so to speak.
  7. I really don't have any idea what this may have to do with the weight limits of the tires......but wait, please don't tell me. I'm quite certain I don't WANT to know.
  8. That and the fact that the load index is also over rated for the gvwr of the van by about 1100 lbs. on mine. That's about 19% margin of error. I'm a big fan of margins. But the point is that going outside of the manufacturer's recommendation does not immediately make the vehicle "unsafe". As Gideon says, what you put into it is another big part of the equation.
  9. You make a good point. The load index is based on the gross vehicle weight rating or in other words the vehicle weight plus passengers and cargo weight. Reducing the index means you would have less capacity. The manufacturer's recommendations are a good (very good) rule to follow but they are not absolute. The sky is not going to start falling and the world isn't going to stop turning if you reduce the index number.
  10. 2020 Nissan NV200 uses CVT. I looked at the NV200 before buying the TC and it WAS the deal breaker. Its hard to find a sub-compact today without a CVT although it may be re-marketed as "IVT". Burns my ass.
  11. Next up will be when Ford starts making the TCs with CVT transmissions.? Lady in a 2020 Kia Soul with CVT transmission broke down right in front of the house this evening. Three week old vehicle sitting in my driveway waiting for a tow truck right now. No go transmission.
  12. Being VERY familiar with the kind of driveways you describe I'm amazed you don't have a rubbing issue on the front with those tires! Confidence matters and knowing what that line is, is key.?
  13. That's sort of like asking how long is a piece of string.? 225/60/16 is 26.6" diameter and you won't fit anything wider under the front at that diameter, at least not without rubbing on rough terrain, not without body modification anyway. I've always wondered what a Gen I might look like without the plastic around the wheel wells. I'm fairly certain it would look like crap but it still might be interesting.
  14. Bigger tires yes, bigger wheels don't gain anything.
  15. Easiest way by far (probably most cost effective too) is to increase the height of the tires. Since you only mention the aspect ratio, I assume you meant going with 215/60s instead of the stock 215/55s. An increase in the width will also gain a little height as well, so you could easily go to 225/60s and if you aren't adverse to the different size front to back you could also gain a little height in the rear with 235/60s back there. The extra width WILL NOT create ANY problems involving rim width or offset or back spacing. It won't get you 2 inches but will gain .9" in the rear and .6" in front.
  16. "Apparently there's no way to lock the vehicle without activating the alarm either." It is painful just to read this thread.
  17. Is there a particular purpose to these locking nuts? Theft? I can't imagine anyone wanting to steal these ugly black stock wheels!?
  18. I wonder if some "air tools" would raise the rear end just a tad?
  19. Skizo, you have my vote for president or dogcatcher or whatever else you're running for.?
  20. That's my guess too, but it won't happen. Not worth my time, money and effort.
  21. You have a different kind of sense of humor. I like that in a person.
  22. Had some tires mounted on my stock steelies today that have been sitting in the shop for about 2 years. Still have original sensors in there, never removed or replaced. Shop didn't relearn them or anything because I just carried them in and out, not mounted back on the van yet. Curious if they are going to "miraculously" recognize them. Also curious if the position of each wheel matters (aka rotating tires). Any idea what the expected lifetime of the batteries are?
  23. The dimension difference is barely more than the thickness of paint. Tolerances on the wheel hub are going to be ever so slightly smaller than the wheels. My Jaguar wheels go on nice on the front but I have to give the back tires a slight kick with the toe of my boot when removing them. I've seen the 63.3mm listing on some Volvo wheels and some spigot rings too, probably just some conversion factor that someone rounded off.
  24. I've used the Viva 3s on other cars and was not particularly impressed. That said, I most certainly would buy them again....for an old beater that might not outlive the tires. I wouldn't run them on my van but simply because I don't like the way they look.
