Replaced PCM twice in 500 miles? What kills PCMs?
Fifty150 replied to Dogbert62's topic in Powertrain Tech
The 8 Track player in Dad's Torino chewed up his favorite Olivia Newton John tape. After the dealership replaced the tape deck under warranty, he kept complaining. They gave him a key fob. He still has that key fob. -
Replaced PCM twice in 500 miles? What kills PCMs?

You could press the issue by asking Ford how they intend to compensate you for your loss. After all, you had to make finance payments on a car you were not sable to drive. Maybe they can offer something. Maybe they can extend your warranty....which cost them nothing out of pocket on the front end. Or ask for some free floor mats, a leather shift knob, and an air freshener. -
The hunt continues..... Expand your horizons. Consider 1st generation and 2nd generation.

Open your rear liftgate or doors. On the passenger side, behind the seat, you will see an access panel. -

MaxxAir Fan for 2018 LWB Wagon

You have a wagon. You are already faced with cutting into the headliner. May as well run the correct wire. Do it right the first time. You can easily run the wire down the rear pillar to the auxiliary junction box. -
I have to tell you that almost every jack today is made in China or India.

MaxxAir Fan for 2018 LWB Wagon

You can do it. Then fan and lights are on the same circuit. Circuit will be overloaded; fuse can blow or fire can happen. You are already cutting holes into your van. May as well run the wiring. -
2016 TC Cargo Aftermarket Sound System
Fifty150 replied to i86hotdogs's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
Subwoofers are for bass. Low range. You will need a crossover unit. Don't simply feed all your frequencies into an amplifier, then expect it all to sound good through subwoofers. It just doesn't work that way. -
Sounds like an evening with Mr. Cosby, and a bottle of Quaaludes.

Try changing the language. System may work better in Deutsche. -
I depend on women for certain things that a K9 companion should not provide.

MaxxAir Fan for 2018 LWB Wagon

The fan draws 5 amps @ 12 volts. 60 watts. Run a separate circuit. It's only 2 wires. 1 fused connection. 1 ground wire. Use the auxiliary junction box in the rear of the van. -
That's a bit extreme. I just learned to say "NO". "No means no". Real simple. No excuses. I don't lie about not being able to afford it. I don't lie about not having the money for it. I can afford it. I have the money for it. I just choose not to spend my money on that. So, "no". You'll find that every once in awhile, a woman may actually respect you because you said, "no". Not often. Most of them will simply leave, and move on to someone else who will spend money. Problem solved. She's gone. I still have my money. For the most part, they will just call you names, like "cheap-skate". Then you can move on to the next one, who may actually realize that your miserly ways is what is paying for that nice, new creepy van that you're driving her around in.......YES! Vans are creepy. Metal cages with no windows. A girl does not want to go out on a date with you, and end up with her photo on the side of a milk carton.

Big difference from a 5.0 to a 2.5. My Transit Connect replaced an Explorer with a 5.0. Noticeable difference in performance. But I can live with it.

Good that you could return the car. No "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" policy. Glad that you did not get stuck with a bad car.

Lifts are not all that expensive. A couple of big pieces of metal. Some wiring. Some hydraulics. The real problem is where to install it. A bit of a challenge when you are in an apartment, and you park on the street. In case you were wondering, this is the splash shield you need to remove for access to the engine and transmission.
-
Says you. I wish I can find a girl who is even cheaper than I am. Do you know how much I could have saved over the years? All my ex's spent money like crazy. They just didn't care. Don't women know what coupons are anymore?
-
I took the chance. After seeing what the filters look like when cut open, I decided to use the larger FL-400S. Why? I'm cheap. I bought a case of filters from Amazon.com, and I didn't want to waste them. I've also got some FL-1A filters in my garage also. Same thread pitch. I would use those also, if I can get them to fit. Once it fits, it's working. Oil will flow in & out, and filtration will happen. I know that there are plenty of people who will point out the obvious......different filters are manufactured to different specs, and each engine is engineered with a specific filter spec. My engine is fine. It did not suffer catastrophic failure from a taller filter with more capacity and filtration media. Looks like I got away with it.
-
Here is the page from the owners manual with the indicated jack points. This is what the bottom looks like with the splash shield removed. Oil filter is really easy to access; behind the fan and in front of the oil pan.

Okay, this does not solve how water is getting in. But it could help with how you manage the water. An old trick from the T-Rex days was to drill a hole in the floorboard. Then install a drain plug or cap. We did it so that we could hose out our trucks. But I'll be that would allow the water to flow out without puddling, and provide ventilation so that mold & mildew do not develop in your van. Get a hose. Have a friend spray your van while you're sitting inside. Try to find how the water is getting in.

I use a small floor jack to lift. Then once the van is on 4 UniJacks, I lift it up to where I am comfortable crawling under. You can use ramps, jack stands, or whatever you want. Personal preference is not to use the OEM emergency scissor jack, ever, on any vehicle. There is even an inflatable balloon jack that is perfect for lifting a low profile car to a comfortable height for service. Just don't buy a used jack at 007's garage sale. He only sold it because it doesn't work. And when he gets a lift, all the Left Coast members are going over to his place.
-
But with a K&N drop in air filter, it will be fine as long as it fits.
-
I think the filter is the same for all the 2nd generation Transit Connect. Just get the filter for 14+, and it should fit. Buy it from Amazon so that you can return it if it is not the same.
