  1. After opening some doors push the turn signal switch forward and back. Hear a chirp. Lights off! I hate this so I keep coming back here looking for a better solution.
  2. I covered my mat with Masonite. It's not as tough as plywood, but has zero splinter potential.
  3. For a long time I suspected that today's long oil change interval was more about environment than technology. But now I believe that 10,000 miles is OK for most cars and most people.
  4. I've been to two dealers for oil change, now both email me that it's time to do it again. The dealers want me to come in much more often than the manual says I need to. Has anyone ever seen a notice on the dashboard display about oil change? I will always take my car to Ford for oil changes. The cost is about the same, and in some cases they will wash the car. Also, I like Ford's record keeping system. Also, they might take care of secret recalls. 10,000 miles between oil changes is most likely OK. Engines get less water in the oil, and the synthetic blend is better than pure synthetic.
  5. Dead battery can happen. I parked on a Friday afternoon and was in and out of the car constantly. I had a side door open most of the time. Sunday night I had to jump start it. So I'm back to pushing the turn signal switch forward and back each time the corner lights come on. I hate this when I'm camping.
  6. Engine off, key in pocket, any rear door open: Push the turn signal switch forward then back. Hear one chirp. This tuns off the outside lights until the next time the car has been locked. The dome lights will still stay on for ten minutes after each time a front door has been closed and opened.
