Now that it's COLD weather is anyone else having issues with the windows fogging up. No, I'm not breathing too heavily..... As long as I have the HVAC set to full heat on defrost only it keeps the glasses clear but as soon as I turn it to floor or dash heat the windows fog right back up. I had the dealer check for a clogged HVAC drain tube last time it was serviced. Who knows if they really looked at it though. Is this a common problem or should I just hunt it down myself?

Probably no help here since we don't get the diesel  Try that question here: http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=54

There IS a TSB on Rubber Mat Offensive Odor. It doesn't specify rotting meat, locker room or Turkish Brothel odor......... TSB 10-1-10 Publication Date: January 15, 2010 FORD: 2010 Transit Connect ISSUE: Some 2010 Transit Connect Vans may emit an offensive odor to the customer, coming from the black rubber cargo mat, in hot ambient temperatures. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE To reduce the odor until it dissipates naturally, we recommend the following: Place about 1 lb. of charcoal briquettes in an open, shallow container. Place the container in the middle of the cargo compartment. Close all of the doors and windows of the van and keep them closed for 24 hours. The charcoal will absorb a great deal of the odor. After 24 hours, dispose of the charcoal as required by local regulations. Soak a piece of cloth with Pine-Sol® cleaner (do not dilute the Pine-Sol® cleaner with water) and wipe a very thin coat of Pine-Sol® cleaner on the mat. Allow the mat to dry and air vehicle out for another 24 hours. WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part. Two fog light positions on the switch ........ wonder why? If you run fronts why would you not run rears? My plan, once I get around to it, is to simply activate the front fog light relay with the rear circuit.

It's finally here!
ncranchero replied to Ceej's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Get one of these for the left side. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/auxiliary-mirror/17255 They help a LOT with the terrible left quarter blind spot. Don't waste your $$ for another one for the right side as they do not help there. A simple small stick-on convex works best there. The 2011's are being offered with front fogs, they're needed! -
Don't know the correct "part number" but I posted a photo of the one I used on mine. It came with my '08 E250, FYI. My TPMS DID NOT reset itself after the tire rotation and pressure adjustment, even after 30+ miles.

That's what the manual says. You going to be the guinea pig? :D

I've been praying but so far no luck !! :D

Frankly I like my TPMS. This is a bit interesting as to the functionality of the TPMS. This says the TMPS control module is a "stand alone" receiver. interpret this as you will and it may be worth a try to just unplug the module. From the FORD Service Manual : Principles of Operation NOTE: The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) module is also identified as the Vehicle Security Module (VSM). This module contains only TPMS functionality. NOTE: This vehicle requires 2 different air pressures – 1 for the front wheels and 1 for the rear wheels. The tire pressure sensors must be trained following every tire rotation. Failure to train the sensors will result in a false low tire event. The TPMS monitors the air pressure of all 4 road tires via 4 pressure sensors located in the road wheels. Each sensor has a unique identifier number that is sent to the TPMS receiver during system training. The module retains these identifier numbers in memory and associates them with a vehicle position based on the training order. The sensors transmit pressure information to the module via radio frequency signals once every minute when vehicle speed exceeds 32 km/h (20 mph), or once every 6 hours when stationary. The TPMS/VSM is a standalone receiver located behind the glove compartment. The TPMS function compares tire pressure information against a low-pressure limit. If it determines the tire pressure has fallen below this limit, the TPMS/VSM sends a message to the Instrument Cluster (IC) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) bus. Once the IC receives this message, it will illuminate the TPMS indicator.

Rear window washers
ncranchero replied to flashcove's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
Washer System The windshield washer system consists of the washer reservoir and washer pump. When WASH is selected on the wiper/washer switch, the wiper/washer switch grounds the washer pump to direct fluid to the windshield glass. When the washer system is activated, the GEM will cycle the wipers several times to clear the window glass of any remaining fluid. If equipped with rear wipers, the washer pump reverses polarity to direct fluid to the rear door glass. -
The OEM tires on mine are Continental ContiProContact. We'll see how this van does in the snow/ice before long.

Better have that looked at...................

I'm using the one from my E250. Lots of info in this thread.

TPMS cannot be disconnected/disabled. It's a snap to reset with the tool. Watch e-Bay/Craigslist and you'll find one cheap sooner or later.

Reprogram door locks
ncranchero replied to dbonsall's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
Do me a favor if you go back. Ask your dealer if it can be programmed to be locked with an extra remote while running. Maybe your guy has some know-how............... -
Reprogram door locks
ncranchero replied to dbonsall's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
Is this with the vehicle off & key removed? Mine wouldn't unlock but that was with the vehicle running, opposite of what I wanted. Reprogramming changed that. Yes. This CAN system sensed current flow, both input & output so i can't say what it would do. You may have to just try it. I want to be able to lock my vehicle with the extra remote with it running but my Ford dealer service writer says it's not possible, even with the Ford scan tool. I'm not sure I believe that since when I requested it he looked at me like a deer in headlights......... -

ncranchero replied to dbonsall's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
There's a rear door locking relay in the CJB (interior fuse box. See owners manual) you could try removing. I'd try insulating the sliding door contacts with tape to see if that disables them. Both of these would need to not affect the operation of the front locking process to be the ideal solution. You would have to manually lock/unlock them with your key using the above. I do not think they can be programmed/modified to unlock with the remote but not the front door switches. -
Tow Hitch Lighting hook up
ncranchero replied to cabmeister's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Nice that they make the adapter. I knew it would have to draw power from elsewhere to keep the flasher circuit working. -
Tow Hitch Lighting hook up
ncranchero replied to cabmeister's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Well the problem is current usage is "measured" by the GEM. It's sensing too much current draw. How to get around this ....... I'll have to work on that. Did you just splice into the tail light wiring? There's no trailer wiring in the factory service manual, figured that much though since they don't recommend trailer towing. You may have to run the trailer lights through relays to minimize the additional current draw on the turn signal circuit. I think that should work satisfactorily since the draw to energize the relay coil would be minimal. Woody, your thoughts on that........... -
I started getting false alerts yesterday, every time I'd put my TC in reverse. They were varying "distance" alerts, like it couldn't make up it's mind how far the object was away from the vehicle . By the end of the afternoon it was just a continuous "beeeeeeeeeeep" when in reverse. :censored: Upon researching it a bit in the service manual it appears there's very little electrical diagnosis that can be done without Fords scan tool. But, one of the first things it says is to clean the sensors with high pressure water. With all the rain here this week my van was a little dirty so I washed it this morning. I also directed the full focused, full blast water stream into each sensor. Finished the wash job, got in, placed it in reverse ........silence. So, if you start getting false alerts the first thing to do is wash the sensors out real good.

I'd try eBay or Craigslist because FOMOCO is proud of them from what I've heard. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-OEM-TIRE-PRESSURE-MONITOR-RESET-TOOL-TPMS-RESET-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem43a0569c3bQQitemZ290452839483QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools I'd have to look a while or try the magnet trick before paying $40 for one.

It simply resets the wheel pressure sensors to the proper "setting" when you rotate your tires. 36psi front/49psi rear.

Wow, very unusual amount of cargo to haul this week so it's back to the E250 until at least Thursday. No matter how much I tried I just couldn't get 3 pallets of merchandise in the Transit!! :D
-
Rotated mine last week, no problems. I have the "reset tool" from my E250 and followed the instructions in the manual for entry into the training process, then reset them holding the tool AT the stem, instead of 180 degrees off that my E250 specified.

Key blank or replacement
ncranchero replied to TClary's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
OMG, if a non-chip key is fifty bucks I wonder how much a real replacement key would be. :o
