It does not affect anything on a highway trip with a cruise control on. Most cars have these behaving identically. Main ways to raise the fuel economy is to numb the gas pedal to limit your input and smoothen little micro movements. Lowering shift points and delaying kickdown etc.

NV200 is nowhere near as comfy as the Connect or Promaster City. Awkward upright seating position and high center of gravity. Promaster City's 2.4 liter Fiat engine has some kind of design flaw, some of them burn oil hard.

This is normal for all manufacturers and there is a number of parameters it considers when deciding the S&S. The most likely moment it engages would be driving in nice moderate weather when there's no need for A/C and long enough stretches between stops to have the battery charged. The more load you put on accessories the less likely is the shutoff.

Correct, S&S starters are more durable but not by that much. I have one replaced in one of my cars with S&S at perhaps 50K miles. Hybrids use the hybrid motor and this is very very durable.
