Image2018
Hi guys I wonder if someone can help . I’ve got a 54 plate connect lab Hitop and noticed a good amount of water on my passenger footwell. I’ve tried to look under the dash but lack of space so I thought I’d ask on here . Thanks a lot for any advice
DonShockley
I seem to recall somebody having similar symptoms and it ended up being a fitting being pulled out of a hose that is used to drain condensation from the inside of the AC ducting. I think there was a photo. I'll try to find it and post a link later.
Image2018
Ahh thanks don Shockley. Only trouble is my van doesn’t have aircon . Yesterday we had a torrential rain storm and when I got back to my van it looked like someone had poured a bucket of water straight into the footwell. Fifty150
Okay, this does not solve how water is getting in. But it could help with how you manage the water. An old trick from the T-Rex days was to drill a hole in the floorboard. Then install a drain plug or cap. We did it so that we could hose out our trucks. But I'll be that would allow the water to flow out without puddling, and provide ventilation so that mold & mildew do not develop in your van. Get a hose. Have a friend spray your van while you're sitting inside. Try to find how the water is getting in.
G B L
The plastic grid between the wipers covers the cowl vent if the water path gets blocked for any reason then the water will flood into the heater air intake and end up in the passenger foot well. Thom
My 2016 cargo van XL just had the windshield removed and resealed. The dealership’s “glass guy”, I think Safelight, said there were as many gaps as there were sealed areas along the top and that he has done others with the same problem. Mine has les than 30k miles. I had previously changed the roof mounted antenna base with no success. The dome light area would fill up with water then spill out onto the dash when I drove and hit the brakes. Maybe yours leaks in the same area but finds a different path to the floor? Mine wouldn’t leak while driving in the rain because of airflow over the windshield/roof, only when parked. Pop the dome light out before the next rain, stuff a rag in there and see if it’s wet afterwards. Good luck.
HeRodeCBR
My 2015 had the same symptoms. Water on the passenger side floor after rain. I was lucky enough to see water dripping occasionally from the topside window seal. Luckily still under warranty (31,000) miles at the time. Dealer removed resealed and installed new FoMoCo OEM windshield. That solved my Van Transit Connect's leak.
17transitconnecter
Any luck with this? I'm having the same issue with mine and I'm stumped. I noticed the same issue on the drivers side of one I looked at before I bought mine. The dealer was surprised when I pointed out how the floor mat and foam underneath were soaked completely through and squishy. My guess is it's a bad piece of weather strip somewhere or a clogged drain or vent. I've had the clogged ac drain line on a different vehicle that was flooding my floor but this issue is definitely related to when it rains out.
