WillMartin
My new to me TC had body damage when I got it, including a missing right side marker light on the front corner. I figured it wouldn't be that tough to replace. Only problem is that the wiring was apparently torn off when whatever happened to it happened. I have to get the lens and housing that fits, but the wiring doesn't have to be anything special so long as it works. Any suggestions for the socket or what else to use? Ford wants almost $50 for five inches of wire and a socket.
Don Ridley
Search T10 socket on Amazon. Many options.
davidparker
I think he may be talking about the electrical socket for the bulb. I think this is the part number F8RZ13K371AA. You can verify it with the other side. If so, just google the part number for a cheaper replacement. The you just have to splice in some wire. Fifty150
This could be your chance to install something different. Since you are installing new fenders, you can install any type of light you want. Think about different styles of LED side markers. Be unique. Be creative. Fill in the OEM hole with Bondo, then rig up something else. As for wiring, we're only talking about 2 wires - positive & negative. Test the wires you already have to determine fist that they are still working, and ready for a new lamp. No reason for the wires to be dead....but who knows with used cars. That lamp only illuminates with the blinkers. Or just call LKQ, and buy it for whatever used parts cost. These parts may work. Double check for compatibility. Since your car is in the shop, the body shop should be able to find exact matches for everything that you need. Do you really want to tell them to pause the work, so that you can take your time to find a cheaper part, as opposed to just letting install the correct item and finishing the job? WillMartin
That's not the one that's missing. It's the right front corner marker light that's mounted in the bumper. I assume I'm going to have to remove the bumper to get at it, which is a bit of a bummer to me, since the repair work has been done. Taking off the bumper is probably pretty straight forward, but I haven't taken apart a rubber bumper cover before, so I'm a little cautious about just tearing into it without knowing what I'm doing. As a 16 year old, all was fair game. More than 40 years later, not so much!
WillMartin
Well, I bought the light housing and the wiring. I hope some of the wiring is still there. Then I'll have to figure out how to remove the bumper cover. It looks like a lot of disassembly and reassembly, but pretty straight forward otherwise. Then on to the next thing - a jack. Why would a jack go missing? Who knows, but it did.
Beta Don
You *might* be able to remove the wheel and then take the plastic inner fender out and get to the marker light without having to mess with the bumper cover. I installed new Fog/DRL light housings doing it that way. I don't know how hard it is to get the bumper cover off, but getting the fender liners out wasn't that big of a job . . . . once you have the wheel off Don
Fifty150
Sounds logical. That is the same thing that you have to do with a lot of cars. Really a pain in the neck just to change a light bulb.
WillMartin
I'll have to take a look at that. It might work.
