buckethead
Has anyone put a window in the rear panel of a cargo van? Can I cut through that vertical support? The wagon version has a full window there doesn't it?
Fifty150
All Transit Connects are imported into The U.S.A. as wagons. Then they are stripped and converted into vans. I suppose you could source the parts, and reverse engineer the process. Then you will hve to worry about your cargo going through the glass. Fifty150
I saw this guy @ The Costco in South City, off The 380, by The Airport.
mrtn
That's from the era when the Camry looked nice. The newest one is hideous.
Fifty150
Does that new Camry look like the new Taurus?

buckethead
I know about the chicken tax wagon conversion but I don't think the back panels ever had glass on my cargo van. Unless they replace the whole panel. Who has a wagon? Is that back window full size?
mrtn
Cargo vans originally have no holes anywhere unless there are windows (sliding door and/or rear barn doors). If some panels were fitted to fill the hole then there were windows.

mrtn
Exactly, and if there's a blank panel there which is separate from the sheet metal it's added afterwards.
buckethead
It's not a panel. One piece of sheetmetal.
Fifty150
I suppose you could source the auto glass, then see if you can mount it.

I drove 1400 miles non-stop to Germany last year and didn't even feel tired. I would love to get the CH-R but it's not really a family vehicle. buckethead
Finally getting around to showing my Lewmar port light in the rear panel. Cutting the vertical support out with a cut off wheel was fairly straight forward. I left the layer of dynamat and laid up three layers of luan in epoxy on top of that because there's some shape in there and a thicker piece of ply would have distorted the panel. I had to build a jig to push it into shape while the glue kicked. Then I glued in a sheet of plastic for finish before I took a deep breath and cut the hole. Fifty150
High 5. Looks good. How is the seal in the rain & in the car wash? Any leaking?
buckethead
Not yet. It is designed for offshore sailboats so I hope my TC never sees those conditions.
Fifty150
Tell us about your fan set-up. Are you planning on venting the roof also? From experience, any "camp" vehicle tends to smell like one when you occupy it. I don't even want to describe how I know, and what I've smelled.
