Looking for a better ride

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm picking up a 2016 Transit Connect tomorrow from the dealership and I'm pumped.

I took it for a test drive yesterday and noticed the ride was very hard, can feel every bump.  I'm not sure if all I have to do is replace worn shocks , the van has 92,000 mi on it at the moment but I was just wondering if there was a go to spring/shock combination that long time owners know about?

It will be my work van so I will spend a lot time in it, I don't need super comfort but the way it is right now it's a lot harder riding than my old 2011 E-150.

Thanks,

Chris

  • 1 year later...

Well I have had the TC for a year now, have put 20,000 on it and have to say I'm all around pretty pleased with it.  The mileage I'm getting is so much better than the E-150 I use to own.  Two comments, Driver seat is kind of hard on the back, can I grab a seat out of TC passenger van and swap it in?

I'm guessing the passenger vans have better seats?

The rear doors, I swear, are designed to close no matter how I open them, swing them open quickly, they bounce close, open them gently, they close.

I haven't figured out a way to defeat the return spring yet, any ideas?

Thanks

Passenger and cargo van seats are interchangeable. Some passenger seats have electronic position controls that may require some research to install. I don't think the passenger seats are better....maybe just better upholstery. Many owners have installed riser blocks under the seats to improve seating postion. There are several posts on this.
