  1. Also consider that each dealership has their own finance department, and those guys are also responsible for generating profits on the loan. Ask if you can have a "fleet price" since you're purchasing a "commercial vehicle". Focus more on out the door pricing, and actual cost of ownership after payments. You are getting a car with a 5 year warranty. You loan should be a 5 year loan. You do not want to be the guy still making payments on a car without a warranty.
  2. Those kinds of classifications could vary from state to state, and different finance companies have their own rules in regards to vehicle classification and financing. In California, I had to fill out additional paperwork, and pay more to Department of Motor Vehicles in order to get commercial license plates. Otherwise, it would have been licensed as a regular passenger car. In my case, I wanted commercial license plates so that I can park in commercial parking spaces, and drive on streets which are zoned for commercial vehicles only. Yes, we have streets here that you cannot drive on unless you have a commercial vehicle.
  3. Okay. The high beams have also been exchanged to LED. At the moment, I hesitate to use the word "upgrade". Time will tell how well it's working, and if it was truly an upgrade.
  4. In some scenarios, employers have a private bus fleet. In other scenarios, employers reimburse the cost of public transportation. Unfortunately, I do not work for such an employer. Wouldn't it be great to be working at places like Genentech, Google, & FaceBook? I love how they even hire private chefs to cook lunch for people so that they don't have to leave the workplace to get something to eat.
  5. I suppose if you learn to only use it for round trips that are within range, then you can comfortably charge it overnight. And it also depends on the user. For me, I would not be able to commute. In my situation, I would be able to get to work, but unable to return home. Great little cars for running errands. I can see how something like this is much more practical for trips to get groceries.
  6. I'm sure that it can be serviced. It's just a matter of how much of the van you have to remove to get to it. The LED license plate lamp/release latch combo on the liftgate requires taking the interior panel off, then removing the exterior trim assembly. A lot of work to change a light bulb.
  7. For the moment, I am satisfied. Next thing to do is add LED to the high beam lamp.
  8. I tried. Camera is junk on a cell phone. My hands are shaky. Ambient lighting from the street is obviously a factor.
  9. In my 2nd Gen owners manual, the third brake light is LED and suppose to be dealer serviced. I imagine that all it really is, is that you have to replace the entire unit. The license lamp & liftgate release unit also says "dealer service". That item requires taking apart the liftgate. I suppose it's not a simple light bulb change.
  10. But a reserve on a motorcycle really isn't ideal. The best thing to do is to raise the front end of the tank, move the fill cap to the top, then move the petcock gravity feed to the bottom at the back of the tank.. This allows you to carry more fuel, and be able to use it.
  11. This does not give you the answer that you are looking for. This is simply how I manage.
  12. Even on my motorcycle, I get that nagging feeling. Especially since the bike does not have a fuel gauge, and only holds a little over 3 gallons.
  13. Range anxiety. Commutes can easily be an hour or more in traffic. That's why I haven't gone electric. What happens if you run out of electricity, and can't get home? It's not like you can fill it up in 5 minutes. You have to first locate a charging station, and hope that you can make it that far. Then sit there for however many hours it takes to get a full charge. I even get nervous driving on Flex Fuel, because the mileage on E85 is less.
  14. Sorry to hear about your eyes. The single complaint that I hear from everybody that I know with OEM fog lighting, is that they can't even tell if it works. We get into fog, they turn it on, and don't notice a thing.
  15. That white pickup in the back could have been me. Was this one of you guys?
  16. Working on the street, the best thing that we could get our hands on "back in the day" was the StreamLight SL-20. At the time, the mod was to put a SL-35 lamp into the SL-20. Much brighter, but didn't last as long. Department vehicles did not have charging sleeves installed since there wasn't any room left on the dash with all the dinosaur electronics all over the place. Not a problem since most guys would install Streamlight chargers into their homes & personal cars, and carried extra batteries. Some guys would spend the extra money, and have two lights. Nothing like being able to light up a dark alley, be able to see into shrubbery, or shine a light 30' up into a tree & be able to see somebody hiding in it. Absolute lifesaver if called upon to search miles of beach & sand dunes, or park land. Then Terralux came along. And anyone who did not upgrade was a fool with a deathwish. A StreamLight with a Terralux LED could outshine even the brightest headlights on a car.....or so it seemed with those anemic halogens on the front of the Crown Vics. I agree with you in regards to LED upgrades in your house. I did the math. LED replacements only use about 10% of the electricity that a halogen uses. I also replaced my exterior lighting with solar powered LED units that have a photocell sensor and motion sensor. These lights turn on dim when the sun goes down. Simple markers for the property fence line and walkways. Then when something moves, the lights turn on full power to flood the area. I know they work great because when raccoons enter the property, the lights turn my yard into a prison yard. Any burglar in the night will be bathed in LED lighting for my security cameras and night sights. These are really cheap on Amazon.com, and the best part is that they are free to operate. I liked these so much that I gave my cousin a set. He installed them in his yard, and he likes it so much, that he bought a set for my brother in law. My electric bill has gone down by 60% now that I'm using solar & LED. https://smile.amazon.com/VOLADOR-Outdoor-Driveway-2200mAh-Battery/dp/B01D42ECSG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1479859512&sr=8-2&keywords=volador+led VOLADOR Solar Outdoor Garden Lights,4 Pack 20 LEDs Solar Motion Light for Outdoor Wall Garden Lamp Patio Deck Yard Home Driveway Stairs With 2200mAh Battery Auto On/Off (Black) by VOLADOR 4.1 out of 5 stars 95 customer reviews | 10 answered questions Price: $52.99 Free Shipping for Prime Members

  18. I like the mental imagery of this guy walking 2 miles back to his apartment.
  19. Knolly, No need to remove any seats. Get a wheel chock. Cut a piece of plywood down to size to fit in your van. Bolt the wheel chock to the plywood. Add a couple of eye bolts for your ratchet straps. I have a pickup with an 8' bed. So for me, there was no need to cut the plywood. Then all that you will have to do is fold down your seats, slide that piece of plywood in, roll your bike into the van, and strap it down.
  20. Has anyone here tried to install a modified H9 high beam into their H11 low beam housing?
  21. 51 PSI. Such an odd number. Not 50. Not 55. I could see how some guys could spend a lot of time at the air pump with an electric gauge, letting air out and adding air, trying to get to the perfect number of 51. Only to realize later that it's 51 PSI "cold". Then they will have to drive back to the service station, park next to the air pump, leave the car overnight, and come back in the morning to get just the right pressure in their tires.
  22. Which brand of LED did you buy? Did you change out any other lamps to LED? I changed my rear tail lamp (not brake light), reverse lamp, and front parking lamp (next to headlight).
