Tfill Found your earlier Post telling your mileage Did you leak get progressively worse or was it constant. I think that you are right in that it needs to be addressed in a Service bulletin and a recall Again Thanks for the info.
-
Tfill Sorry to here that . How many miles on your car and how much was it leaking? Did the trans run out of oil? was it shifting funny The Escape Half Shaft Problem has been around for 3 or 4 years and there was a Recall on it Thanks for the info keep us posted

Escobar Any more news? I went on EBAY and you are correct there are lots of engines. There was one in OHIO 81000 miles out of a Focus that looked very good , The Used engine could be a very good deal . Keep us Posted.

Hello Johnyguy I have to say I am not a dealership type of guy Unless there is no other choice. The fluid I got is Castrol Transmax It is fully Approved for Ford cars needing Mercon LV fluid It is available at Wal-Mart or any good Auto Parts Store. The only thing that Makes the Half shaft Oil leak Trouble is Not having an easy way to check the level and keep oil in it. At the moment mine is just a drip and less than an oz in 1500 miles As for the shifting issues the Computer in this car is really trying to out think the driver. In fact when the cruise is engaged and you are going down hill the brakes can be applied by the computer. That was very interesting the first time it happened Not sure How I feel about my car plotting against me.
-
Checked the Trans fluid today a few drips but no real change in the level Have 6400 miles on mine with the amount you drive and if you keep a check on the fluid you will not have any problems. I think having the fuel pump stop me will be higher on the Worry List No Recall letter yet on that for me. The Leak issue has been around on the Escape much longer . I think the fix is somewhat elusive but I think they must be working on it

Mine weeps a couple of oz of oil every 1500 to 2000 miles Ford has not figured out the real cause of the Problem. The Escape had a drivers seal problem and they came out with a kit that had a seal, shaft bushing and a new inner CV drive hub. The other side has the same seal . The difference is the right shaft has an out board Bearing and stops the angular motion of the shaft at the trans axle . This would be not much of an issue if they had put the dip stick in the car. I am watching ford for the real fix Checking the level is the best defense against Transmission troubles

Escobar The leak down test will be good What was the Compression of the rest of the Cylinders Head Bolts FPG ES72207 $55.80 Head Gasket FPG 26250PT $49.50 Exhaust Valve SEP V4718 $13.49 Each These are current prices from NAPA for Valve Parts for your engine If there is a good used engine with less than 100000 miles and a guarantee in your area It could provide a Reasonable Choice. 180000 Miles is equivalent to 4500 hours. A Fair amount in engine life. If you do take it a part make sure you check the Timing Chain and the Guides and tension-er for ware Waiting for the next chapter
-
Sounds like a good plan, Just keep in mind that a fully Remanufactured engine is around 2500 ready to install. it is very easy to spend a large sum of money and get a repaired engine with 180000 miles and no warranty . Once the engine is out do not forget to check the seals on the Torque Converter for the Transmission as it will be easy to get to with the engine out. You will want a new timing chain and chain guides, I think the Head bolts are torque to yield and will have to be replaced with the head gasket The plot thickens can't wait for the next chapter.

The real question is why are you putting on Mud flaps . The Back flaps are to protect the driver behind you and if it does not get down close to the road it gets missed by the spray and debris. If you are interested in protecting your own vehicle then the important flap is the one behind the front wheel . If this flap is big enough it will protect all the important stuff between the two wheels. The door bottoms the Rocker panels and the lower slide door track assembly, Brake and fuel lines Do you live on a Dirt Road . Nice could have a different Definition.

What great information, I have the XLT LWB wagon version and when the seats are folded flat the deck height is not a much higher than the Van platform and with the seats removed it would not be hard to get a platform with a lot of storage. I think that I would have no trouble overloading the Van with the amount of room that it has with the seats folded flat. The other thing I noticed is the Van has no head liner in the back and the Wagon has a great Headliner that is good for noise and provides good insulation for heat and cold. Thanks for all the great Info

Great Information . In any event the head will have to come off the engine. The next question is how many miles on the car because replacing the valves will cost a fair amount and doing a in car job will take twice as long as out of the car. If the Van is in good shape it may be worth a fully re manufactured engine . Pulling the head on a DOHC engine that has a Timing Chain is much more involved than a push rod or a rubber timing belt engine. Keep us posted

Sooner or later everybody ends up in the Break Down Lane for some reason or another . -
When you get the Head off you need to measure the Cyl to determine if it was bored out or not. How many miles on this rig

A standard Pallet is 48 inches and they made it just big enough to say you can load a pallet. Its still about the money -

The work van is 48.1 and the Passenger version is 47.3 so it will be close in the work van and in at an angle with the passenger van. Its a little Van not a big van. But you can bet they tried a sheet of Plywood in the work van -
2014 Transit Connect fuel pump recall

Just another reason to drive next to the Break Down Lane! -
did you do a wet compression test? (shoot oil into the Cyl then check the Compression) if it goes up then the rings are bad, if it does not then the valves are bad. The Piston comes out through the top of the block after pulling the head. If the valves are bad the head has to come off any way Good luck

Nice Job. Looks like that will be my Rack solution Hope the Wind Surfing is great
-
For the 2014 it is just under 16 inches . I think the 2015 is the same.

MPG while towing a motorcycle?
G B L replied to omniphil's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
I looked at the pictures of Mustangs Atv set up . Very cool. The Fuel mileage would be better if the trailer was kept in the wind envelope of the van . It should be over 20 . When I get more time towing my set up I will report back -
I bet the color of the covers on mine are the same as yours, Because your doors are very light and Mine are very black They do not list different covers or colors But if you go to fordparts.com you can see all the different diagrams.

No I think it is the other way Any way here are some Pictures of Mine Its warmed up to 29 here almost summer
