Key blank or replacement
JWWOODY replied to TClary's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
YES. WHEN I PICKED UP MY TC NEW I WANTED AN EXTRA KEY WITHOUT THE ELECTRONICS TO KEEP UNDER THE TRUCK IN CASE I GOT LOCKED OUT. THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER IT. HE NEEDED AN ORIGIONAL KEY TO COPY PLUS THE VIN NUMBER. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS AND COST $50. IT WILL ONLY UNLOCK THE DOORS AND TURN THE IGNITION, BUT IT WILL NOT START THE VEHICLE. THE ELECTRONIC FOB IS NECESSARY TO START THE VEHICLE. WOODY -
NCRANCHERO; DID THE METAL SHAVINGS SHOW UP AFTER YOUR ROTATED THE TIRES? DID YOU USE A JACK OR A LIFT? MAYBE IF YOU JACKED UP ONE CORNER OR SIDE AT A TIME IT TWEEKED THE BODY ENOUGH TO SHAKE SOME SHAVIINGS OUT OF THE BODY PANELS OR DASH. I HAVE HAD MINE ON THE LIFT, WITH ALL FOURS UP AT ONCE, BUT I HAVEN'T JACKED IT YET. WOODY

THE DIAGRAMS IN THE SERVICE MANUAL SHOW THE "C" SPRING CLIP, BUT DON'T CLEARLY EXPLAIN HOW THE REMOVE IT. IT APPEARS YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE UPHOLSTERY AND PADDING TO GET TO THE GUTS OF THE SEAT BACK. THEY NOTED ONE THING VERY CLEARLY, CAUTION WARNING PERTAINING TO THE SIDE AIR BAG IN THE SEAT. WOODY

THE MODEL NUMBER I GAVE IS FROM THE SERVICE MANUAL. THE TRANSMITTER THAT I HAVE CAME FROM E-BAY AND HAS A NUMBER 8C2Z-1A203-A. IF I REMEMBER IT WAS ABOUT $35 AND WORKED FINE. AS I ALSO NOTED THE PARTS GUY AT FORD THAT I KNOW SAID A GOOD MAGNET WILL WORK AS WELL, BUT I HAVE NOT TRIED IT. MY GUESS IS THAT THE TRANSMITTER IS SOME TYPE OF ELECTRO MAGNET. WOODY

Front Bumper Fog lites?
JWWOODY replied to scooot's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
THE LIGHTS THAT I USED ARE FROM PILOT AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY (NOT HONDA PILOT), MODEL 2088B 3”. I PURCHASED THEM AT AUTO ZONE FOR ABOUT $20.00 THEY ARE BLACK PLASTIC WITH A PLASTIC MOUNTING MOULDED ON THE SIDE. I CUT OFF THE MOUNTINGS SO THERE WAS JUST A DOME OR CONE SHAPE. -
LET ME TRY AND HELP EVERYONE WITH THE RESET OF THE TPMS. I TRIED THE PROCEEDURE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I SPOKE TO AN EX STUDENT OF MINE WHO WORKS AT THE PARTS COUNTER AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND HE GAVE ME THE SECRET. I FOUND ON E-BAY A FORD ACTIVATION TOOL PART NUMBER 8CZT-1A203-AA FOR ABOUT $35.00. IT WORKS BUT THE FORD GUYS TOLD ME THAT A MAGNET WORKS JUST AS WELL. THEY RECOMMEND ONE OF THOSE ROUND MAGNETS YOU FIND IN THE BOTTOM OF AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PAN. FOLLOW THE PROCEEDURE FROM THE SERVICE MANUAL NOT THE OWNERS MANUAL. 1.TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION, THEN PRESS AND RELEASE THE BRAKE PEDAL. 2. CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH FROM THE OFF POSITION TO THE RUN POSITION 3 TIMES ENDING IN THE RUN POSITION. 3.PRESS AND RELEASE THE BRAKE PEDAL 4. TURN THE IGNITION WWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION. 5. TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH FROM OFF POSITION TO THE RUN POSITION 3 TIMES, ENDING IN THE RUN POSITION. THE HORN WILL SOUND ONCE ANT THE TPMS INDICATOR WILL FLASH IF THE TRAINING MODE HAS BEEN ENTERED SUCCESSFULLY. 6. IT MAY TAKE UP TO 6 SECONDS TO ACTIVATE A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. 7.WITH IN 2 MINUTES OF THE HORN SOUNDING, PLACE THE TPM ACTIVATION TOOL ( OR ROUND MAGNET) ON THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SIDEWALL AT THE VALVE STEM AND PRESS AND RELEASE THE THE TEST BUTTON TO TRAIN THE LF TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. THE HORN WILL SOUND. 8 DO NOT WAIT MORE THA 2 MINUTES BETWEEN TRAINING OR THE PROCESS WILL HAVE TO START OVER. REPEAT STEP 7 FOR THE RF, RR, THE LR IN THAT ORDER, THE HORN WILL SOUND BRIEFLY WITH EACH RESET. TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF. IF THERE IS NOT HORN, THE RESET WAS SUCCESSFUL. IF THE HORN BEEPS TWICE WHEN THE SWITCH IS TURNED OFF TRAINING WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND NEEDS TO BE RE DONE. WOODY

IF YOU LOOK AT THE OBDII CONNECTOR, IT IT HELD ON WITH TWO TORX SCREWS. TAKE THEM OUT AND CAREFULLY REMOVE THE OBDII CONNECTOR. IT HAS A 90 DEGREE BRACKET WITH ADDITIONAL HOLES. PULL THE PAL CLIPS OFF THE MOUNTING AND PUT THEM ON THE OBDII CONNNECTOR AND REMOUNT THE OBDII FACING DOWN. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLUG IN YOUR WIRE AND BE ABLE TO PUT THE FUSE BOX COVER ON. ON THE SIDE OF THE DASH BY THE DOOR, THERE IS AN ADDITION ACCESS PANEL WHERE YOU CAN THREAD YOUR WIRE AND GET IT UP TO THE DASH OR GO UNDERNEATH THE DASH TO THE CENTER. WOODY

tjump; MY TC HAS POWER WINDOWS SO THERE IS NO HANDLE, BUT ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANUAL "IF EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL WINDOWS, REMOVE THE MANUAL WINDOW HANDLE RETAINING CLIP AND HANDLE". IF YOU PRESS IN ON THE PANEL BY THE HANDLE, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE A SPRING CLIP. REMOVE IT WITH A SMALL HOOK TOOL OR AN OLD TYPE WINDOW HANDLE TOOL. WOODY

disappointed with estimated mpg for city driving
JWWOODY replied to TransitTenore's topic in Gasoline
YOU DON'T HAVE TO TURN THE O/D OFF, LEAVE IT ON AND LET THE TRANS DO ITS JOB. IT WILL DOWNSHIF IF IT NEEDS TO. I CARRY A LOT MORE WEIGHT AND THE LEAST MPG I'VE GOTTEN IS 22. ON THE HIGHWAY I STILL GET CLOSE TO 25 WITH THE AC ON AND MORE WITH THE AC OFF(AND WINDOWS CLOSED). I HAVE 12000 MILES ON MINE AND AM VERY PLEASED. WOODY -
Rear Seats (remove easily????)
JWWOODY replied to prcrampton's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
THE DOUBLE SEAT ON THE LEFT CAN COME OUT LEAVIING THE SINGLE, OR THE SINGLE CAN COME OUT AND LEAVE THE DOUBLE. JUST PUT THE BOLTS BACK INTO THE FLOOR HOLES TO KEEP DIRT OUT. WOODY -
THE CERAMIC PADS HAVE CUT THE DUST DOWN CONSIDERABLY. WOODY

I had the key made by the dealer when I bought the truck. They needed the vin number and a key to copy. It took a couple of days and cost $50. I figured the $50 up front was cheaper than a locksmith call. I ordered a "hide a key lock box" from Duluth Trading with a combo lock and very strong magnet and put it under the wagon. WOODY

I work out of the back of my wagon, and have accidentaly hit the yellow button and locked the doors. Luckily the windows were open and i could reach the keys. I removed the yellow latch button ( it just pulls off) and have avoided geting locked out again. I also had an extra key made with out the electronics and hid it under the wagon. It will unlock the doors but it won't start the vehicle just in case of locking the keys in it. WOODY

I know that the forum page says Flex, but we can use it for our TC'S. Since I live on the coast (salt air) and I have a roof rack I can't get my wagon into the garage, so exterior maintenance is a must. I like my cars clean, waxed, and showroom new, so I spend time keeping them that way. I use Meguires NXT Tech Wax on the exterior paint. I probably wax it 6 times a year, (for me its therapy). On the black plastic trim and tires I use Eagle One gel no drip tire shine applied with a sponge pad to keep it neat and off the paint. I wash the wagon frequently with Meguire's car wash, but I usually do the engine compartment, wheel wells and definately the wheels with simple green first. A quick dry with a terry towell or chamois after wash. I would like to hear if you think there are better or more efficient products that you use. WOODY

THE PANELS LOOK GREAT. IS THERE AND ACCESS TO THE "JACK IN THE BOX"?

AFTER READING ABOUT MANY OF YOU EXPERIENCING PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR, AND THE CONSTANT OVERABUNDANCE OF BRAKE DUST ON MY WHEELS, I ORDERED A SET OF CERAMIC PADS FROM APEX. I PULLED THE WHEELS, INSPECTED AND CHANGED THE PADS. THEY WERE ONLY WORN ABOUT 10-15% ( I DRIVE LONGER DISTANCES) AT 10000 MILES. I PUT THE CERAMIC PADS ON HOPEFULLY TO ELEVIATE THE OVER DUSTING. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ABOUT DUST AND WEAR. THE TRICK TO THE ANTI VIBRATION SPRING IS TO PUT THE ONE SIDE IN AND GRAB THE OTHER END WITH A SMALL VISEGRIP, SLIGHTLY TWIST AND TAP THE WIRE END INTO THE SECOND HOLE. WOODY

NABOTTLE; EARLY LINCOLNS 94-99 MARK WHEELS HAVE THE SAME BOLT PATTERN, AS DO MERCURY SABLE, FORD WINDSTAR, AND A FEW OTHERS. I AM NOT SURE IF THEY GO AS BIG AS 18 OR 20 INCHES, BUT THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN 16 AND SOME 17. TRY SOME OF THE WHEEL REFURBISHING SITES AND MAYBEE YOU'LL FIND RETRO WHEELS THAT MIGHT FIT YOUR FANCY. TIRE RACK IS A GREAT PLACE FOR TECH INFORMATION, TIRE SIZE CONVERSIONS, AND TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS. WOODY

BOB; THANKS FOR THE INFO, YOU HAVE RAISED MY CUROSITY. THE AUTO SUPPLIERS SHOW A CABIN AIR FILTER RECTANGULAR IN SHAPE POSSIBLY THE SIZE OF THE "NON FILTER". THEY ARE NOT THAT EXPENSIVE. I AM GOING TO TAKE THE COWL OFF AND SEE FOR MY SELF. MAYBE THEY DON'T INSTALL ONE BECAUSE IT IS TO COMPLICTED AND TIME CONSUMING TO CHANGE. THANKS AGAIN; WOODY
