    New kid on the block

The big mirrors are an option here as well but most dealers will not option them into a spec vehicle. The biggest problem I have with the spot mirror is where it is located. If it were on the inside corner of the main mirror it could give a better field of view. The other advantage for me is it would not disrupt your eye when you scan the full mirror for vehicles. As mrtn's great picture shows the mirror's are much more reliable than the camera.

  2. Solar panels on a car. Now that is creative. And a custom made Lexan window.

    Thoughts on inverter.

I put a solar panel on my Connect, that charges its own deep cycle battery. I hooked up a modified sine wave inverter, well that would not run my ice maker, it just buzzed, so I got a pure sine wave inverter and that works well. I also made the pictured rear side window from a sheet of lexan, so I could cut holes in it for an AC vent, wiring to the solar panel and a 30amp plug in.

    What goes here?

The City has outfitted our Rangers with Transit Connects.......equipped with spotlights. They used the traditional a-pillar mount. You can probably do the same thing. I ran into a couple of them today, as I was on my way home. I was still wearing uniform pants, with a regular jacket covering my shirt. The girl driving the first vehicle said, "how did you get a new one, and unmarked?" It didn't occur to her that I was driving my own car, not a city vehicle.

The Air mattress I found in the link has a built in air pump and is only 24" wide so it should fit very nicely.
