  1. So, here's what a SWB van looks like with 16x7 40mm offset Sparco Terras. The tires are the original 215/55/16 Contis. Hope this is helpful... JW

  2. So, based on reviews that I read as well as advice from my local tire guy, I decided to get Nitto Motivo 225/50/17 tires to go with my new Volvo "Amalthea" rims... The Motivos have a 60,000 mile tread life warranty and have a slightly higher load rating at the same 50psi than the OEM 15" Continentals had, so I didn't have to get the TPMS's re-calibrated either. An added bonus; my speedo has been reading 2 mph too high since I bought the TC (based on data from 2 different GPS units). The first thing that I noticed yesterday after I installed the 17" tires and rims was that my speedo is now agreeing with the GPS's at all speeds. I like the ride with the new tires too; firm and stable.

    2017 Ordering Guide

Man, that's bizarre. Currently weighing a few options for my next vehicle, and the Connect is on the list of three (new Civic hatchback, Fusion Sport, Transit Connect, all very different, I know!). If those new Titanium packages have some more high tech options (Adaptive Cruise Control would be amazing) it'll be a really tough choice!

    New Wheels

I bought a black 2014 TC Titanium last October. For winter I outfitted it with a set of Michelin snow tires on black Momo Winter Pros: I had considered larger wheels for summer driving, but I was a bit concerned about harshing out the ride. And after riding the 16s all winter I liked the black on black look and figured I didn't need larger rims. Last week I ordered a set of black16 inch Momo Revenge wheels. I should have them mounted within the next week.

  9. TurboCargo

    New ecoboost TC

I now have 30,000 miles on my TC. I am so glad I paid extra for the turbo. Don't get me wrong, the 2.5 is an excellent engine; I very much enjoyed my 2010 Mazda CX-7 sport with this motor. I test drove a TC with the 2.5 and it was fine. I wanted a loaded cargo van and it was hard to find the options I wanted. Then the salesman found this one but it had the turbo and alloy wheels. They made me a deal and when I test drove it I could not believe the torque from 1500 rpm up. Although the hp/torque numbers seem close between the 2 engines on paper, there is no comparison in the "fun to drive" factor once you get this puppy in boost. That was stock. At 20,000 miles I replaced the factory resonator with a straight pipe. I also replaced the factory muffler with a magnaflow 14210 which retains all factory pipes and hangers. I also installed a K&N 57-S-4000 cold air intake designed for the 2.0 EB Focus but fits the 1.6 TC perfectly. The exhaust is actually still fairly quiet but has a very nice deep tone. With the K&N installed you can not only hear some turbo whistle but also the "blow-off" when you back out of the throttle. This made a nice difference you can feel (a little). So the next step was to reprogram to computer to take advantage of the less restrictive exhaust and intake. That made a HUGE difference. More on that later if there is any interest.
