maritimesbob
Hello all, I bought a 2004 Connect tdci last summer. It was lowered by the previous owner and with Calibre alloys fitted with low profile tyres. To be honest it may look ok, but absolutely useless as a work van on the roads around here. The rims are slowly being destroyed and the van is bottoming out on most humps. I have decided to return it to stock, get some height back. Was hoping to keep the rims and fit some standard 18" tyres (the rims are 18"), otherwise what models of cars/vans are interchangable with the early Connects so I can fit some more standard type rims/wheels? Also, the front struts and rear leaf springs, is there any difference in the early vans, between petrol, diesel etc when it comes to the springs? Need to find someone who is breaking a van or a local breaker who has the parts. Thanks all.
sKiZo
Maybe just add airbags to the current setup so you can adjust ride height as needed?
mrtn
The differences between Mk1 are only by carrying capacity. There are loads of different cars with compatible bolt patten: https://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Ford/Transit Connect (2003 - 2013).html
MLB
I run 18" wheels with no problems. Minimal difference from the stock 16", same diameter.
maritimesbob
Ok, picked up some stock front struts/springs to lift up the front end. For the back, it seems the axle had been flipped as the springs are fixed to the bottom. So, remove leaf springs, brake lines etc flip axle and refit the springs at the top? Thanks
