Howdy from an "Old Geezer" currently driving a Ram Promaster City Wagon.  Had I done enough research I would be driving a Ford Transit Connect right now!  Oh well...live and learn eh?

However, I am shopping for a 2016/17 Ford TC, really.  I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks fer havin' me.

Alright.  Central Coast.  Hear there's good wine in those parts.  And the BBQ is suppose to be awesome.  But I fell asleep watching that movie "Sideways".  Unfortunately for me, the only stop that I ever make between NorCal & The SouthLAnd is @ Pea Soup Andersens.  Too easy to stop in Santa Barbara, fall in love with the girls from The Campus, and never leave.

What's up with the Pro Master City to make you want to trade so fast?

Ram Promaster City:  No spare tire or place to mount one

No power windows for passenger, only tilt out

Can't read the speedometer/gas guage in any kinda sunlight

Driver and passenger front seat has only that dorky turn knob for recline

                                   No center console

Ford TC:                    Has all that stuff & more

Yes, all my fault for poor research...

That's my story and I'm sticken to it...

Thanks for making me much happier with my Choice.  It is  usually the small things that  make  car ownership good or bad . Thanks for the Information.

How does it drive?  Have  you driven a TC yet? If so  how do they compare.

How about pricing?  I'll bet you saved a lot of money buying that Dodge.

Fifty150, I got the Ram for 1% below invoice.  Hoping to do the dame on a FTC!

GBL, Yes those small things have grown into big enough things that I am switching.  I have tested a FTC and feel they drive about the same.  I can actually read the speedo in sunlight! I do like the Ram in as much as I can see the sheetmetal out front to gauge  an approach easy.  But, now I have discovered you can get front/rear sensing on the FTC, so that will solve that.

My local dealer balked at my offer of $100 less than they would go, so I walked out.  Going shopping on Monday.

Well, as I expected...the dealer called me back and accepted my offer.  Made the order.

So, Monday is free...:clapping:

Sounds like you are getting what you wanted . Hoping that the bath you took was small.

The front of the TC will not be hard to judge after you drive it a while.  If you are paying attention to the driving in front then you will just know where the front end is.

Did you order one or did the dealer have one you liked ?

GBL, I did not trade my Ram in (If that is what you meant  by "bath".)

Ordered a 2017 TCW swb XLT in silver, with most all the options.  they said 4-6 months!

I took two test drives in a 2016 XLT SWB Cargo and actually started to get a feel for it .

I am an impatient old geezer so the wait will kill me.

Thanks for the encouragement...

Dodge and Ram have split...a while back, not sure when.

Mine is a Ram Promaster City Wagon, (smaller than the Mercedes) which I will keep until my FTC comes in.  Then I will trade it in or sell it...Also selling a 2015 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softtail Classic...any interest out there?   :)

I would make you an offer on the bike if I had room to park it.  Living in The City, parking is a challenge.  I already have a bike in the garage, and I'm forced to park 3 cars on the street.  On some days, I park and walk 1/2 mile back to my front door.

Living in The City, big bikes just aren't as practical.  I was actually looking at one of those new small Harleys with the 500 CC motor.  And I've been thinking about a dual sport.  But again, no parking.  Can't stock up on toys when I have no place to put them.  I had two two bikes.  And a boat.  I kept the Harley, but gave up the sports bike and the boat.  I felt like an idiot towing that boat around the neighborhood every 3 days, looking for another place to park it.

If I lived in the City I would consider the "Zero" made in Scotts Valley, CA.  all electric, quiet, fairly small but lots of power.  Zeromotorcycles.com

I have owned 37 bikes in the last 59 years.  Never been without one.  I knew this was my last bike when I got the plate: "MOHICAN".  Now...I am fighting cataracts, and vertigo...not a good combo on two wheels.  (I hope no one here works for CA DMV!)

Thinking about it...I rode a 1958 Harley Duo-Glide on the 49 mi. scenic drive in S.F. I had no problems.....but that was  in 1963.  I remember parking it right in front of Coit Tower...probably can't do that anymore.

Fifty150, you make me very happy to have the parking I have available to me!

Cheers!

I saw the article in Popular Mechanics a couple of years ago.  I also considered range, availability of charging stations, and charge time.  You simply can't drive 60 - 90 minutes, then look for a charging station, and wait 6 - 8 hours for a "fill up".  Of course, since then, the technology has gotten better.  But your charge time is still longer than the drive time.  Give me a car or bike that takes 10 minutes to charge, then allows me to go for about 300 miles / 5 hours @ 60 MPH.  Oh yeah.  That already exist.  A conventional gasoline car that fills up in 10 minutes, and goes better than halfway to L.A.

I thought Zero was going out of business because of flat sales.  Nobody bought them, except for Santa Cruz P.D.  They were listing around $6K, and I think they were giving $2K rebates to bring it down.

Too bad the technology simply isn't there yet.  Just like that bike built in S.F. that uses gyroscopes and stays up by itself.  Can't balance a bicycle?  No problem.  This one actually stays up on it's own.  Great for drunks who can't walk.  Couple that with self driving technology, and I am ready to party.
