montizano
Looking at a 2016 connect swb wagon (with ecoboost). First really warm day of summer yesterday and found the AC had a hard time keeping up. Not just keeping the big box cold, but the air blowing out wasn't very cold. Didn't get to give it a long test but I'm worried that living in the DC area this might be a problem... Anybody else have a similar feeling? I don't need it to be ice box cold, but I would at least like the ability to not sweat in the summer... thanks, Monti Edited May 27, 2016 by montizano
dbcooper
If you just turn on the a/c and don't hit recirculate or max a/c your cooling down outside air.
mrtn
I have a manual A/C and if you turn the temp knob to zero it automatically switches to internal circulation. It gets cold pretty quick. A bit weak if it's hot outside. Having your rear windows tinted always helps.
NateTheFknGreat
I've noticed it gets colder as you drive it more... I just had my TC tinted with ceramic tint and also did my windshield.... It gets too cold even on #2... I'd recommend tinting it to not make your a/c work harder to cool the cab... If you start your car and it's not moving for 3-5 mins, maybe try to gas it a little and see if it gets colder... If it does get colder, the a/c system may be low on freon... Booner
Also check what mode you have for the vents. I notice if I have the cash vents and football vents selected, it doesnt cool as well as when just the dash vents are selected. Check you owners manual for this. I have a 2015 XLT LWB Cargo and this part March 2017 I noticed the AC wasn't working at all. Cold area was not coming out of the vents. It had worked pretty well up to that point. Brought the van in for general service and had the dealer check the AC system. The AC had a leak in the refrigerant line, which traced back to the condenser. Dealer put in a new condenser assy P/N - DV6Z-19712-A and recharged the refrigerant P/N - YN-19 Refrigerant R-134A. Works great now. All work done under the b-to-b warranty. I think they had to remove the front bumper to get the condenser out, not an easy job. Doesn't give me a warm feeling that a 2 year old condenser starts leaking, or in this case it would give a warm feeling, but I sure hope I don't have abnormal reliability issues once the warranty runs out. I had a thought early on that if the AC couldn't keep up with keeping the cab area cool, then I would rig up some type of clear plastic curtain to help contain the AC in the cab area and isolate the cargo area for my cargo van. So far the AC seems to work just fine but I'm sure there are hot areas where that might not be the case.
