handyphil
Has anyone else noticed their gas cap being "sticky" or difficult to replace? It seemed fine at first, but after 6-7 fill-ups, it now seems to be slightly out-of-round or something...it is somewhat difficult to reattach. Thanks, Phil
Becca294
I am having the same problem most of the time. It seems like you have to push it down level or it will stick. Then I have to pull ity back off and try again.

ncranchero
My gas cap has began to get quite ornery too. Anyone found a "cure" ?
handyphil
No cure, but I think Flying Media is on to something. I wonder if there is a third party cap that would work better. I'm not sure if complaining at the dealership would help. My gas cap has began to get quite ornery too. Anyone found a "cure" ?
Mike LaB.
No cure, but I think Flying Media is on to something. I wonder if there is a third party cap that would work better. I'm not sure if complaining at the dealership would help. I complained to my service writer when I brought the car in for the recall service. They say they have gotten no complaints other than mine and that they didn't find any problems. Yet the problem continues.

mudslinger
I have to really focus to replace my cap after filling the tank. Glad to know I am not just mechanically unsound. It is the car!
Hal
Yeah, If I don't get mine lined up just right it doesn't want to go all the way into the filler neck. But then I have the same problem on my Focus and the wife's Buick. I think it all has to do with the sealed systems for emission control they put on the cars today. The TC is a little more difficult than the cars and I think that it is because of the angle of the fill pipe. The fill pipe on the TC is more vertical tha either of the cars so you have to put it in and then push it down.
csn
I have to really focus to replace my cap after filling the tank. Glad to know I am not just mechanically unsound. It is the car! I have a five minute gas cap; takes me five minutes to get it off, then I fill it up, and it takes another 5 minutes to put it back on. Otherwise, love the vehicle. I'm going to swing by the dealer to see if I can have a remedial class in gas cap operation. C
Tranzy
I found after replacing the gas cap, if you click more than 3 notches, the next time you go to fill up, you will have a very hard time to get it off.... I used both my hands with a lot of force to get it off. I Think they are defective, Of course Ford won't acknowledge this until there are thousands of complaints. kmoilan1
My TC is a 2010 and still under warranty. I had a battery fail and while at the dealer mentioned the gas cap issue. I have been careful to align and only use 2-3 clicks to tighten. Took two hands to remove the cap on the last fill-up. The dealer had to replace the battery and yes, they did install a new gas cap. Time will tell but it was much easier to remove and replace on this station visit. I uploaded 3 pics to the gallery for review. mrtn
It may be that the gas cap is different for the NA. Mine's been acting normal since new.
