  1. have you been for a ride after changing the plugs?
  2. Would not be the first time a plug was bad right out of the box
  3. Does the code say cyl 4 miss Did you try a new Plug? what is the number of the code
  4. Is is a constant miss or an intermittent skip? when you drive it does it have good power some times
  5. If the fluid is at the level and some comes out it is ok, you would see some bubbles in the fluid. I think that the fluid at the level of the hole is the the top of the range. So some fluid Driping out the hole would be fine. If you found the fluid with in 1/4 " of the hole with the tie wrap dipstick it would be fine also. If you were to add fluid with the plug in it would be easy to add too much Yes I used a lift. I have a receiver hitch on mine so two ramps in the front and a floor jack Under the receiver would make the job easy. The air dam is very easy to pull it makes an oil change an easy job.
  6. Another thing if the fluid is not hot the tie wrap will tell you if the level is close You are right the fluid wants to be just at the level of the plug
  7. I posted before I got your whole post, good job. If you take a 4 inch tie wrap and put a 90 degree bend that is 7/16 or 1/2 inch long You can get it through the hole to get an idea of the fluid level is if it is not comming out the hole. this will allow you to guage the leak rate. mine seems to be less as the joint wears in
  8. The dip stick on the Escape goes in through a port on the back of the trans the Tc has a plug there. At one point I will see if the plug can be removed I will keep you posted How much was you trans down? How many miles on your TC
  9. Here is a picture. The cap is right below the throttle and the cap has Mercon stamped on it
  10. The fill cap is black plastic and very close to the engine I will try and post a picture as soon as possible.
  11. Great the finish line is in sight. Let us know when the final issue is solved and how the TC drives
  12. The video arrived and it is good . Sounds like the crank gear is held with the crank bolt and extreme care needs to be taken when the cover is put on and the balancer is installed. The crank gear can slip is the balancer is not tightened correctly. I would like to know the proceedure for making sure the crank gear is not turning on the Crank shaft Happy Fourth
  13. Cool When you pull the vent fill cap round off the splines on the inside end it will make it putting it back easier A worthy project. Have a great Holiday.
  14. I bet a Turbo kit for your 2.5 would do the job also !!
  15. I think it would work. With out a lift it will be a task to do it while the car is running. having put fluid in the car several times now , the cap is acccessable without pulling the air cleaner off a long thin funnel works well. If you have the plug out with the car running as you add fluid then you wont over fill it. Just don't for get to put the plug back in. Shutting the car off with the plug off will make a real mess I know!
  16. Correct, I made a little dipstick so I can tell how close to the hole the fluid is. If the car is not fully warm it allows me to check the level Mercon LV is what is asked for. And yes the car wants to be running. The fluid drains back after the engine stops. I have also put an oil pad in the dust cover so I get an idea of how much fluid leaks out.
  17. When I watched the escape video that you saw and highlighted the parts that he changed did not look very warn. the left half shaft is very short and it could be there is some axial motion of the inner joint. the wobble could cause oil to walk by the seal. Mine seems to be slowing down as the joint wears in. If the car had a dip stick then the amount mine leaks would not be an issue. Just a mess. hope the new parts do solve the issue I would love to see the old parts keep track How many miles on your TC Let us know how it is going!
  18. The breaker bar will work. Be careful The crank sprocket is keyed to the crank for sure. You will have to set the crank the crank and then the cams how does the tensioner work. keep going
  19. Cool Hope it helps Checked mine yesterday and with just over 10100 on the clock the leak has slowed on mine. I am continuing to keep track. when you check it again Let us know how it is doing. I think the vote is still out at Ford as to the cause. Thanks for the up date.
  20. What did you torque it to, did you use Loctite? If you did you might have to heat the bolt If you do pull the starter put the bar in carefully. How many CFM is the compressor ? Take it slow
  21. Cool can't wait for the result let me know
  22. Take your time and make sure the tensioner takes up the slack turn it over two full revolutions to bring the marks back and check them again.
