Ok, you asked for it Here's the hidden programming to change options. To have the van keep running when you open the door (while remote started) you want to change Bank 2 Option 7 to off (I also changed Bank 2 Option 6 to off) The remote start system override button is up under the dash on the left side. It sticks out a tiny bit. NOTE: The engine shuts off so it can detect which key is starting the car (If you use MyKeys and have some keys given to kids that limits speed and stuff), so If you disable the remote start door open engine off thing MyKeys no longer works. The below isn't my writing, I had saved it from another forum that appears to be gone, good thing I saved it System 100 Keyless Entry Remote Start System (1 Way and 2-Way Remote Start Systems) If you have the Fob with 1 LED and one button with the KEY symbol on it, you have the ONE WAY system. Note: Locate the L.E.D. connected to the remote start harness before proceeding. see my note #1. When in the programming mode pressing the overide button moves you from one option bank to the other, pressing the brake pedal scrolls from one option to the next and pressing the button on the remote fob turns the option ON or OFF. Entering Program Mode for Vehicle Security and Remote Start Systems Step 1. Close all doors and hood. Step 2. Press and hold the BRAKE PEDAL. Step 3. Insert the key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ON/RUN position. Step 4. Locate and press the remote start system override button for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds the horn will honk 3 times and the lights will flash 3 times, indicating that the system is now in Transmitter Learn Mode.see my note #2 Step 5. Release the brake pedal and the system override button. Note: Remote Start Transmitters (Fobs) can be programmed by pressing the (Lock) (KEY symbol on the Fob) button (1-Way) or the (Start) button (2-Way) one time for each transmitter. Up to 8 transmitters may be learned. This might be what you need to to do to program your fobs MY NOTE #3 just a brief push, hold it too long and the system reverts to the default settings. Step 6. Press and release the remote start system override button 1 time. The horn will honk 4 times and the lights will flash 4 times indicating that the system is now in “Bank 1” of the programming options. Step 7. Press and release the brake pedal 1 time. The horn will honk 1 time and the lights will flash 1 time, indicating that the system is now at the first programable option. Refer to the “Option Programming Chart” for available options and features. Step 8. To advance to the next option, press and release the brake pedal. The horn will honk 2 times and the lights will flash 2 times indicating that the system is now at the 2nd programmable option. Repeat for additional options within bank. Step 9. To advance to “Bank 2” programming options, press and release the remote start system override button one time. The horn will honk 5 times and the lights will flash 5 times indicating that the system is now in “Bank 2” of the programming options. Step 10. Refer to the “Option Programming Chart” and repeat Step 7 and Step 8, if necessary. Step 11. Once programming is complete, turn off ignition. Note: Options can be changed by pressing the (Lock) button (1-Way) or the (Start) button (2-Way)one time. The L.E.D. will turn on and off depending on the desired option. My note #1, I never found the LED under the dash. I had to resort to using logic. If what I wanted was not working I assumed the LED was "OFF" and pushed the fob button one time to change it's state from off to on My note #2. You will have to remove the panel under the dash below the steering wheel to locate this button. There are 3, 7MM bolts to remove at the bottom edge of the panel. The top is held in with push connectors. You will have to pull the hood release to get the bottom edge clear. Make sure to close the hood before programming. You don't need to touch the 2 bolts holdong the OBDC connector on. The overide button is tied to a support just to the left of the steering column with the remote start wiring. It is a button about 1/4" in diameter and was facing toward the front of the car on mine. My note #4, Option #7 is the "Door Open shut down" setting. The default is OFF, if you turn it on the engine will run when you open the door. If you are using the MY KEY option on your Flex to restrict a teen driver then don't change this!

Focus ST it sounds like The bolt pattern is probably the same, but I don't think they will clear the suspension?

I've got a BMW scooter, so its probably roughly the same size. Dimensionally it will fit, but getting it up in there would be a serious pain.

I might be able to, I have the Passenger version so while the seats do fold flat they are still about 8 inches off the floor. I'd also have to get some sort of ramp to get the bike up there too, seems like quite the chore?

I get about 28-30mpg (2014 LWB) when cruising on the highway for long trips. I was curious what it would drop to with a motorcycle trailer behind me? Total would be about 1100 lbs for bike and trailer. Just wondering if any of you guys have towed a bike long distances and kept an eye on mileage.

I use Mobil 1 0W-20 every 10,000 miles with a Mobil 1 oil filter (There's no reason to use 5W-20 unless you want less protection range or don't want to pay for synthetic) Oil actually protects better as it ages (to a point), so changing too frequent isn't really a good idea unless you live in a harsh climate or tow alot or something like that. I can't think of any modern car that should have it's oil changed every 3000 miles. It's not a good idea any more. One of the reasons people were told to change every 3000 miles is because cars burn oil and if you were told to go 10,000 miles between changes the average person would not check to see if it was low in between changes. I will also add that I always do my first oil change at 1000 miles to get rid of any factory break-in junk. From there I change it at each 10,000 mile increment (I always drive more than 10k in a year or I would do it once a year). I do this on all my cars, some of which were highly modified.

After a while you get used to looking through them. But yes, at first it was pretty distracting. On the plus side, I've never had to scrape my windshield this winter.

Yeah, I went down this road. The dealer told me 5 quarts, Ford told me 6. I finally found the right guy of at Ford customer service. 5.7 quarts. And that amount brought me pretty close to the full mark on the dipstick after it was changed. I checked a bunch of times because I didn't believe anyone, lol

I can't find the thread either but between the dealer and a call to Ford (Since its not in the owners manual) the correct amount for the 2.5 liter engine is 5.7 quarts with filter. (Assuming you have the 2.5)

Its not a blackout shade, but it does have a shade that does let a little bit of light in...

That's how mine works as well. And unfortunately its how its supposed to work. The other issue with the remote start is that the rear defroster will come on automatically (When cold outside) but the heated windshield does not. I'm thinking the remote start is not all that common and they never really worked out the programming to account for it.

I noticed the visibility was very poor with my 2014. What it ended up being was the headlight were pointed down quite a bit. Maybe to compensate for hauling cargo that would make the lights raise? I do have those side vents as well, and it seemed to have heat coming out of it, I will double check tho...

So I just drove to work (About 35 minutes) and when I got there I put my hand under the drivers seat right down into the vents. Both hot and cold air were coming out. Very odd, I can feel to distinct temperatures of air being mixed. Outside temp was 18 degrees. The controls behind the armrest were in fan position 2 with the heat knob at max. The front was set to auto fan 76 degrees with the middle and lower vents selected. Those rear vents under the drivers seat are tuck way back and down, I can't even see how they'd do much good hot or cold...

I just had this happen the other day and it was one of the few times I went to a self service gas station, and yes, after the initial stop of the pump they tried to pump more in. the next day i had the smell in the van. So the question is, how does the fuel vapor enter the van when its over filled?

I have not checked my rear vents under the seat, but I certainly will now. I had my brake fluid dangerously low when I received my 2014 Titanium, all the other fluids are fine, I have yet to have any temps around 0F, but they are coming. Will see how warm the van gets. I have the remote start and the heated windshield. When you remote start the vehicle if the temps are below 32 degrees the rear window defroster automatically comes on, the windshield one doesn't, Ford confirmed this is intended behavior. Seem to make the heated windshield option pretty useless.

As of 2014 we already have the ecoboost engine available :-)

I would pull the intake pipe off and see if you can still spin the turbo wheel by hand. Turbos tolerance are very tight, something may have got in there.

I have a 2014 LWB that I bought for use as an occasional camper of sorts. I am 6 feet tall and I wasn't able to lay down in the rear of the short wheelbase transit connect unless I slept diagonally. I measured 5 feet 11 inches from rear door to the back of the front seats, in the long wheelbase version I had 7 feet of room) This may not exactly apply to a SWB but I'm guessing it'll be similar. I removed the third row seats and seat belts altogether. In the back I put a rock climbing pad that I had because it was the same height as the 2nd row seats when folded down. I fold only the left 60% side of the 60/40 middle row down and that allows me to fit a 6 inch twin size memory foam mattress in the back. I only had to trim about 6 inches off the mattress up neat the middle seat that is still up right. Width wise it leaves some room beside the mattress if I want to sit up. Headroom isn't an issue. I have room on the side of the bed for a plastic storage bin that double as a night stand. The 3rd row windows are blacked out with some fleece material from Walmart. I then installed 4 compression curtain rods (rear window, both second row windows and between the first and second row seats) with blackout curtains. When the bed is in place I have access to 3 seats for carrying people, when I need all 5 seats I fold the memory foam mattress in half over itself and flip up the other seat. I have used it more than I thought I would. I normally sit in alot of traffic going to work in the morning, so now on occasion I drive to work at 10pm when I would normally be going to bed and sleep in the van in the parking lot. I wake up in the morning and enjoy a nice short commute to work The memory foam mattress combined with the rock climbing pad provides almost as much comfort as my big memory foam mattress at home and with a -30F sleeping bag it's been very toasty even with the temperatures we are getting now in December in New England. I suppose you could say that I'm a happy camper...

I wish my transit had a turbo :( Sounds like the turbo wheel might have seized blocking airflow. Is this a new or used turbo?

Pretty sure the 2013's are 9 inches taller when I measured them. It's quite a bit more headroom...

Physics is Physics, less rolling resistance = better gas mileage. It was covered on an episode of Mythbusters and those guys tend to get pretty scientific in their testing. If your looking to squeeze every drop of gas out of your tank you gotta be willing to try these crazy things
