  1. Normal gas prices have been around $3.15 in my area but I found one station at $2.98, i'll be going there more I put 2000 miles on in 2 weeks and 1000 of that was me driving around everywhere trying to get the break-in over with before vacation, the second half of that was a trip to Canada. Normally I do about 20,000 a year. Work is over an hour away and I love using regular gas again in something that gets decent gas mileage now! Now I need to get the rear area setup like a camper van, that's the main reason I bought this vehicle.
  2. 2014 Titanium, 3940lbs. Managed over 30mpg on the last tank and still had 120+ miles left on the tank according to the computer.
  3. Make sure to get the 0W-20 instead of the 5W-20. You get extra flow when the engine is cold and starting the engine is where all the wear happens.. Same price and you get a larger protection range
  4. Drove easy for the first 500 miles while keeping the rpms moving around, used moderate throttle for the next 500 miles also keeping rpms moving around. Changed the oil and filter at 1000 miles (Mobil 1 0W-20). Then did a few wide open throttle runs. Same procedure I do on all my new engines, and I've always got exceptional mileage out of my cars and they have never burned a drop of oil and I change the oil every 10,000 miles
  5. I took mine to the local truck scales with a full tank I got 3940, however that was after I removed the 3rd row seats that weighed 112lbs. So it should be over 4000lbs. Mine's a LWB Wagon Titanium with all options except the second row overhead storage bin, so it's probably the heaviest example out there. Ford's website has the LWB Wagon listed at right around 3900. These are heavy unfortunately, but man is there alot of space inside!
  6. I got my Transit Connect 2 weeks ago today, On this tank I have been really trying to be good and see what I could get for mileage under a best case scenario. I'm sure I won't see this good all the time, but nice to know it's possible with careful driving. I have to admit, for something weighting over 4000lbs this is crazy good mpg. If I ran the tank really low I would be able to hit 450 miles on a tank.
  7. How's that for total mileage estimated on this tank? 424 miles and van is 12 days old!
  8. I am able to update the SYNC software myself from Fords website, I wonder how one would know what version of the Maps one has? I would assume they come out with yearly updates. As a side note, I was able to configure the Ford Nav for Canada over the weekend, it wasn't intuitive but once we found the option we were able to get to our hotel in Montreal since our cellphones have no signal up there.
  9. I get about 350 miles before the gas light comes on, and when the light comes on the remaining till empty shows 45 miles. So I am getting close to 400 a tank assuming I drove it till empty which we don't do. I reset my mpg counter at each fill up to see how accurate the built in gauge is vs the actually mileage calculated using www.fuelly.com. So i'm always seeing MPG on my current tank vs every tank. When I reset my mpg gauge at fillups I usually see it say 401 mpg to empty. Last night coming home from vacation I was hitting 31mpg average on backroads (according to the computer, which is about 1mpg high) Your doing city driving, so yeah, MPG will be much lower. I do probably 85 to 90% highway. I've also noticed that cruising at 70mph impacts MPG (26 ish) a good amount, 65mph still will get me good MPG (29+ mpg), at 60mph (A little too slow for my tastes) it goes up pretty good too (over 30mpg). Basically with a vehicle this size and weight you'll want to be doing 65 and under for good fuel economy, the wind resistance going over that makes it start to take a pretty big nose dive.
  10. Interestingly enough the Ford service department told me 5 quarts...... So I decided to call Ford directly, at first she told me 6 Quarts and I told her to double check since I am getting conflicting information, she did some more research and found 5.7 quarts with filter, So that matches the service manual, so I'll go with that
  11. Well that is the weird thing, I've seen 5.0 quarts and I have also seen 5.7 quarts. When I looked up the escape for 2014 it says 5.7 quarts for the 2.5. I'm guessing yes the engine is the same but the oil pan shape and design may be different. I'll call the dealer today and see what their literature says... MPG has been good so far, 27.5 on the first tank, I use www.fuelly.com so I know its accurate (The built in gauge said 28.9), Second tank was 25.8 but I was intentionally putting more load on it to help with the break-in. With all my other cars I average pretty close to the highway rating with my mixed driving, so I expect to be getting pretty close to 28 when I get more miles on it and things loosen up a bit.
  12. Has anyone changed their oil yet? Owners manual doesn't say how many quarts I need?
  13. I want to mount a 2 meter radio in the area underneath the shifter, seems like there would be a bunch of space under it. Has anyone tried removing that large plastic surround in the footwells?
  14. Got 27.5 mpg on my first tank. Don't trust the built in gauge it said 28.9mpg for that first tank. Same as my Ford Focus, the built in gauge was about 1 MPG too high. http://www.fuelly.com/ So easy to accurately track fuel and maintenance.
  15. Does that vent thing just pull right off without any screws? I was going to remove it and possibly trim it back as it blocks the top part of the Nav screen for taller drivers...
  16. Cellphone navigation systems are lightyears ahead the stuff in cars. Google Maps and Waze are really all you need. Now with that being said, cellphones are not always friendly for use in cars, you need some sort of mounting system. So it's really a toss up. I have used the MyFordTouch stuff and compared it directly with Google Maps. For time/accuracy/routing Google Maps wins every time. Having an internet connected device like a cellphone is so much better.
  17. Yes, for MyFordTouch there should be a SD card provided by the dealer for the NAV function...
  18. Anything can be added aftermarket. I just depends on what level of integration you are looking for. If you want it built in to the factory radio it would be fairly costly. You are better off buying a factory sat radio off Ebay or something. Then you need to deal with the factory antenna/wiring and all that. Or just buy a Sirius aftermarket radio and plug it into the line-in jack.
  19. I removed my 3rd row leather seats from my 2014 Transit Connect as I'm never going to have 7 people in it and wanted the extra storage space. And I like to weigh everything.... Each seat with hardware is 55.93 lbs for a total of 111.86 lbs Pretty good chunk of weight. I gained the equivalent of 1 hp and 1/4 MPG The engine is still being broken in however I was happy to see the computer showing 28.9 MPG on this tank so far with probably about 85% highway driving (100 lbs of dry weight is roughly equivalent to adding 1 hp and 400 lbs of dry weight is roughly equivalent to 1 MPG)
