mustang replied to Sparty57's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
after looking further it looks like its just a installation kit (wires etc) the factory installed hitch has a trailer control module under the right hand access panel in rear of van . in the manual it says it has anti sway control for trailer towing . -

MPG while towing a motorcycle?
mustang replied to omniphil's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
The brakes on a gen 2 connect are fantastic , If I only had a 5.0 liter pony motor I'd be in heaven -
about three weeks ago I took my van in for service at my dealer and also brought my letter for the glass and they took care of it and a check came about a week later from my dealer (the check was made out by my dealer ) I LOVE my Ford dealer they are great..........................

Height of Rear Door Threshold?
mustang replied to SteveMalone189's topic in 2015 Ford Transit Connect
In looking at my 2014 , if I was doing what you are , a sheet of 1/4 inch luann or ply would work pretty well. BTW my 2014 is exactly how you say the newer floor's are -
the oems were around 50% gone at 19,000 miles need better traction was reason I pulled them . the trailer does fine the machines are not as heavy as they look the y are mostly plastic

The Continental Pro Contacts that came on the van give great pavement performance but.................... This is my driveway at camp and if it rains , the procontacts really show their SUCK and just sit and spin . Snow in the winter was/is about the same , not much TRACTION . So I found these , that are a Mud and Snow tire Continental Extreme Contact DWS The reviews on them are really good as far as winter traction goes so I gave them a shot . I went with the 225 / 55/ ZR16 with a 95w load rating . They are just a bit wider and taller than the OEM tire . Fits fine but does fill the front wheel well . no rubs and enough clearance all around . Will report more on traction when I have "tested them further" But the ride quality is definately better than the OEM's , a few decibels louder at hiway speed but barely noticeable . Now onto the wheels , Motegi MR116 in Black with red stripe. 16 x 7's .........a half inch wider than OEM 5 x 4 1/4 (108mm) and a 5x 4.5 bolt circle on each rim , That means they work on Mustangs , Rangers , Focus , fusion Transit Connect etc. etc. They have a 40 mm offset and fit perfectly . only thing is you need to use smaller diameter "TUNER lug nuts " The van now loks pretty sharp even with the FROZEN WHITE delivery van paint job .

Just completed a 4200+ mile trip across the USA
mustang replied to Boomerweps's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
I find 70 mph on the freeway for extended time , gets average of 26.x mpg 60mph gets me 30.x average mpg . did 4000+ miles last July when my van was relatively new , they do eat miles well. as far as interior noise ............Turn the Radio louder ! hahaha ! -
Half beam problems with newly bought TC 2014 L1
mustang replied to CrazyCharlie's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
Low beams suck bad in the gen 2 transits , readjusting the beam pattern makes a huge difference . high beams on the gen 2's is very good . -
to add to your confusion............. my 2014 cargo van is the same as your 2015 a black insert with torx bolts

don't know what the privacy glass is like , I could have it installed but 600 bucks in my pocket sounds better than something I haven't had for a year and never really missed .
-
Ford is writingme a check for $600 Apparently my van was supposed to be built with privacy Glass it wasn't . My VIN is on the list to either have the privacy glass (two sliders and rear 180 doors) installed or elect to have $600 check instead I 'm taking the money .

@mrtn ...my 2014 US model van just has two threaded inserts in the door for the plate to attach . I mounted a camera there too that looks at the trailer hitch , makes hook ups easy peasy.

Yet another "will plywood fit" thread....
mustang replied to stevet47's topic in 2002-2013 Ford Transit Connect
they do make bigger vans for bigger loads ..................... the connect is an incredible van within it's limitations of what it is . The bigger Transits do bigger work -

my air conditioner used to do similar. turn on van would never blow cold after 15 20 minutes, pull over side of road , shut key off turn back on and presto cold air . hasn't done it for awhile . my rear window wipers are whats acting up now . turn on key and the swipe across the window even when shut off . they do it once or twice then it doesn't happen again usually the rears will sometime also come on by themselves when using the front intermittant wipers , even though the rear switch is off .

I got the recall but mine has one in the right rear wheel well cover............ also got a recall for seat belts not bolted in right and a courtesy recall for the floor tiedowns not secured properly , none of which apply to my van -
MPG while towing a motorcycle?

MPG while towing a motorcycle?
mustang replied to omniphil's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
good luck with that ...............unless it's an itty bitty motorcycle this is a 650 triumph , which are not that tall of a bike . I don't have seats , so have the extra 8 inches and it just barely fit . Also had to sit kitty corner to shut the rear doors
