  1. congrats on your new TC. that's a nice color. sadly they don't offer it in the van model. The 4x8 sheet would fit width wise, but would extend out the door by about a foot. can you leave the door open and tie it down? do you a liftgate or 180deg doors? how about a pic?
  2. that's great news. congrats Don! How about a pic of your new wheels? I checked the Costco program too and so far it looks like the way to go. Hope to get a van on order very soon so we'll see if it measures up.
  3. I think the primary advantage to the factory rails is that the crossbars can be removed when not being used. that's how I use the racks for my wagon. I rarely use the crossbars. The commercial racks seem like a more permanent solution. Not sure having them adjustable is a big advantage. I would always set the crossbars in the same location. the basket option shown in the picture says it's easily removable in the product description. wonder what that means. I guess we'd like to know more about this option. I will PM Bluebox and see if he can share more about his rack.
  4. http://vantech.us/Transit-Connect-2014-On-J-Series_c161.htm Maybe this would be a good resource for racks. they show a 2014 TC option that's very reasonable. Located in Brooklyn, NY They also provide a PDF instruction manual online.
  5. I checked out the Ford parts catalog and see the roof rails you're talking about and 103west43rd posted earlier. LH for LWB - 55122B - $502.30 RH for LWB - 55122A - $521.88 HN1 - nut - $4.00 (will need a bunch of these) Besides the fact that it's insanely expensive, why is the RH more expensive than the LH? Ford really messed up big time on this option. Found this link that shows all roof rack options as an accessory http://accessories.ford.com/exterior/racks-carriers-dv-65.html?ef_id=U7WvEwAABS%400CKtw%3A20140705025704%3As&limit=60&searchid=61190431|2205149551|13921192412 Checking compatibility, nothing shows up for 2014. Perhaps their aftermarket supplier for these hasn't caught up to new van version. Hope that situation changes soon. I do see the Roof Basket option for $775.00, again only up to a 2013 van. You can get all that for $775 yet two rails by itself cost $1,024. http://accessories.ford.com/roof-basket.html
  6. so the rails are $500 per side, $1,000 for both. plus the crossbar kit for $359. That's $1,359 total. That's insane considering it's only a $195 option on a wagon model. something is very wrong with this. Curious how high that other rack system sits above the roof. I have limited clearance in parking in the garage so wondering if that option would be an option. I like the utility of having that on top even though it looks more fitting for an excursion van. I guess I can contact Bluebox and see if he can share that info. thanks for the link to the accessories catalog. It's sitting in plain sight on the configurator page but I overlooked it.
  7. great news Hrider glad you found something to work with. how about a pic of your new wheels? good luck with your upfitting
  8. appreciate you taking the time to post that. it helps a lot cause I haven't looked into it yet. and I sat in a TC two weeks ago at dealer and forgot to check that. thanks! that's exactly how I want to use the lights. leave them switched on all the time and have them go on and off with the ignition switch. congrats on your new TC XLT - Van or Wagon? maybe you can post what you got with options and some pics in one of the threads where others are posting that. then we can all be jealous of your new wheels. thanks
  9. sounds good. keep us posted, with pics of course
  10. saw this pic of a factory rack in BLUEBOX's photo gallery http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/gallery/image/694-ford-factory-roof-rack/
  11. Kultulz, Thanks for sharing your rack info. I would agree that an orderable option for $139.00 shouldn't be $500 as a spare part. Have you checked another source for getting this? If you order a van model, you can not order roof rails or crossbars. It's not in the ordering guide. Only an available option for wagon models. Not sure why Ford has this restriction. If $500 covers only the roof rail kit, how much are the crossbars? The 2015 ordering guide shows the roof rails and cross bars for $195 (MSRP) Roof Rails only are $135 (MSRP) I thought the fixed cross bar option uses the same attachment points in the channel as the roof rails use. Not sure what a Roof Panel attachment would be. ADD-ON - If you look at the pic of the aftermarket one compared to the one I posted above from the web ordering guide, the length of the rail is different. The factory one is longer covering the entire track. The one you show seems shorter and leaves part of the track open in the front. not sure about the rear part.
  12. thanks for sharing. very nice. when you starting making up the bed I wasn't sure where the video was going to head next so I chased the kids out of the room just in case will there be a 4.0?
  13. @hdrider - that's messed up. sorry to hear of this. hopefully you can find something close to what you want in dealer inventory now. I sent you a PM. First time doing that so not sure how that works. keep us posted
  14. that sounds like a really nice setup. thanks for sharing. I want to get a lot of those options too. I'm really curious to see the van with the side windows and how the last panel looks with it, because it's inset from the body. Might be a bit strange but I really want to have glass on the sliders for added visibility. now I'm jealous!
  15. great news, congrats! I second the call for pics when you get it Also what model and options did you get? thanks
  16. that's insane. Ford should give special orders priority over dealer inventory orders. Those vans are going to sit on the lot until someone buys them. When an individual customer places an order, you've already got a buyer who wants it. Too bad these aren't made in the states. Seems that would speed things up a lot. The whole importing and customs BS goes away.
  17. Oregon Don - many thanks. I haven't check that forum in a while. usually not much activity there. here's the link if anyone is interested hthttp://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/56673-2015-transit-connect-order-guide/ I also attached the PDF Guide.
  18. I have no idea. I'd suggest contacting the company. My only knowledge of this window source is from a Sprinter forum where posters have gotten aftermarket windows from them. Best of luck.
  19. I agree, sharp looking van thanks for the tire info
  20. nice report Daniel. thanks any issues with the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system)? please keep us posted
  21. how about cr laurence? http://www.crlaurence.com/apps/sitesearch/search.aspx?query=transit%20connect
  22. thanks Mrtn. seems anything that's useful and practical for Euro versions is removed or dummied down for the US market. I'd like to leave my lights on all the time and not bother switching on/off. I think I'll just go to a local dealer and figure out how they work then I'll know for sure.
  23. good deal. consider yourself lucky. I've made the same decision regarding Sync. Besides, I'm not a gadget type of guy. Some are and I'm sure it's frustrating. How about a pic of your TC?
  24. I entered a contest to win a TC, found on the Ford TC FB page. Contest ended May 20th and naturally I didn't win but Ford mailed me a $750 off coupon. I think it's only good for a TC that's on a dealer lot, not a special order.
