Removed the Floor Extension Today
gargman replied to buckethead's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Thats a perfect solution, why Toyota and not Ford? If I thought that anyone at Ford would care I would send that pic to them and ask why couldn't you make a 15 dollar plastic box for us too! Thats exactly what I need only maybe a metal lid? Nice find Toaster and that is what I'm going for with the aluminum box. I'm with you on just removing the hardware and just find a box. Looked in Lowes, Home Depot and found boxes real close but no keepers. Went to camping world, nothing. Checked West Marine online and Grainger supply with a couple possibilities but nothing just right. Would love to find a "drop in" solution. Will entertain the "hinged lid" to cover the entire opening Idea first before going to the design and fabrication. -

Will do. It's Byers Precision Fabricators in Hendersonville. The Ford mechanic recommended them. One of the engineers suggested taking the time to shape a foamboard mold of the opening for a 3D template. Not so sure about that Idea but once I get this floor area exposed I'm just going there and let them do what it takes, expense considered...but not priority. And BTW, how hard would it have been for Ford to have just made a drop down panel for us in the beginning? Oh well, guess they were too busy deciding on which "sticky stuff" to put on our floor matt! Thanks Toastervan. I have checked out the progress, lots or possibilities. I pulled back the rubber matt and can see the torx bolts and how much space is there and like everyone else, I want that space! There is a metal fabrication shop close by so when I remove all this framework I will take it to them and see about making some aluminum boxes. Something that will finish flat with the deck to serve as the floor when closed. I didn't see anywhere how to remove that plastic step, just been lazy, but I will figure it out. You guys have made great progress and have some nice ideas. I really like the Idea of making the plastic step part of a concealed pull-out drawer. I will share what the metal shop has to say. -

Thanks for the input and pics. The sun heats up that black dash alot! Was hoping for a good fit but haven't found one yet. Will just use windshield screen for now.

LOL! Don't think everyone should be worried about transmission issues. And messing with the level isn't needed. The 2014 my company bought has 190,000 miles and going strong. No tranny or leak issues at all. Had dealer change trans fluid@ 120,000 miles and he said it could have went another 100,000!!! My 2015 I bought for myself has 96,000 and no issues so I'm not gonna create any ! These are great vans and as hard as we drive them if they don't fail, they wont fail you either. I pull a 800 pound trailer 5 days a week so if the tranny was going to fail, it would have by now.

Just returned from dealer. It's normal programming. I checked two other new ones on the lot, all the same. -

Ok, so its not just mine! I'm close to the dealer so I will drop in and see what if anything they have to say about it. -
Just wondering if anyone else has these ghost images before you start the engine. They just float across the screen where the backup camera is displayed when the door is opened or engine turned off. Thought I would ask here before waisting a trip to dealer!

Anyone that has owned a "Fiat" jeep which is the same drivetrain as the junk dodge van will say, you'll be sorry! I prayed dailey to find a buyer for mine as it had so many issues they couldn't be addressed. Number one is the sorry crap tranny! It missed gears all the time and would hang in 3rd until I stopped and started again!! Started whining at 800 miles and dealer said it was normal. Then it locked in 4th completely over and over again! Dealer did nothing. Then electrical and then the engine. Go to the Jeep forum or Google "Jeep complaints". There has never been a worse auto built than the Fiat/Dodge merger junk. If you fail to do some research before you buy you will be sick with regret. I found out the hard way... -

Agree, its anoying butna simple fix to the inside cargo light. I just popped it out and spliced in a toggle switch. There isn't much wire when you pull it out so be careful when you cut the wires to leave enough to splice it back into the terminals on the switch. then I just used Old Faithful, Gorilla Tape, and take it nice and neatly right back next to the light. it may not look OEM but it works perfect. I still however I'm annoyed at the fact that the parking lights stay on every time you open any door! I have not found a workaround for that.
