Gideon
Hi all, I don't have a garage, nor carport nor shelter. Overnight it was -27C and my 2018 fired on first crank. Warm air from heater in under 2 min, but mianly directed to defrost windshield, so took more time to get comfy. Considering the van's volume, very good performance! BTW, over the past couple weeks, many overnight (and some daytime) temps were around -25C to -28C In the Ottawa, Canada area [colder than Helsinki, Finland even]. And "Wind Chill" factors were -30C to -43C.
BSJBSJ
Same for me in VT. Although it doesn't give really warm until the coolant gets to 179 Deg. F. Which doesn't happen until I've been driving at 55mph. First 15 minutes of my drive is 50mph or less which doesn't get the coolant above 160 when the air temps are well below zero Deg F... BTW, although I don't generally care for overseas travel, I WOULD love to be able to visit Finland and the other Scandinavian countries [preferably in warmer times]. mrtn
mrtn
Windchill does affect everything as fast moving air cools everything more effectively than standing one. My -20°C proof windshield fluid freezes in heated nozzles at -8°C at highway speed. A few minute break melts everything until unterwegs again. What you are describing is the wet-bulb temperature and affects inanimate things if they are damp or there is high humidity in the air that causes water vapour to have an effect. This is why your nozzles are freezing up, because they have washer fluid that is evaporating in the wind. If they remain dry, they will stay at the air temperature.
