2019 Transit Connect Cargo able to do long hauling

Personally, I would not do it if you have a turbo engine. But with the 2.5  the TC can tow "up to" 2000 lbs, so should not be any worry.  I topw a 1700 +/- lbs tent-trailer in summer [true - only about 250Km each way] with no problem at all. And without "factory" towing pkg.  With the factory pkg you can rest easy. But watch your TOTAL load => van + trailer, as it may affect handling & braking.

How you load the trailer is also an issue. You want 10-15% tongue weight.

I regularly haul 1500 lb loads in my trailer.Pulling is no problem but increase your stopping distance by 50%.I would not travel in slippery conditions at higher speeds without trailer brakes. The trailer tends to push the ass end of the van around when braking.

Absolutely correct for hitch load and braking !!  Although I never had trouble with my tent-trailer (about 1700lbs loaded, no trailer brakes), was/am careful to not "stomp" on brakes. Allow distance and time for stopping.
