mrtn
Intercooler pipes enlarge under boost, that's normal. That's why they have the metal rings on them.
scot the sniper
It's also making a whistling notice?
G B L
Did the hose swell before the work was done? sounds like a gasket was put in differently than intended causing a blockage
scot the sniper
I'm sure I put exhaust manifold gasket and inlet on properly there is only one way they can go on to fit the bolts no other gaskets were involved I can also hear the turbo spooling up as well Edited February 24, 2019 by scot the sniper
G B L
How did it run before the work was done?
PhotoAl
Normally if you have too much pressure it will back off the turbo or bleed some of the pressure off. Has something changed with the boost control? Is there blockage in the intercooler?
scot the sniper
I was driving it before after I fitted timing belt and done a wheel bearing it was driving fine it's only after exhaust manifold and inlet manifold and agr valve all been took off oh and turbo pulled apart to get the pig of a bolt out that it's all been put back together the pipes are swelling up badly you can actually hear the turbo spooling up and the whistling seem to go with the revs of the engine and it's down on power please help at my wits end
PhotoAl
Im thinking something didn't go back together the way it was before, check all of the connections on the turbo and waste gate to make sure something isn't swapped, loose or disconnected. Im not familiar with the Ford turbos but most turbos Ive had have a waste gate and if the control is messed up then it could overboost which would cause the swelling - not a good thing as you can tell. G B L
When a new issue happens after a job, the first thing I check is the last thing I worked on. If it was normal and then not something changed. Step back and look you will find it.
scot the sniper
Ok the turbo seems to be goosed now squelling like mad took it off fins are all bent and buckled gonna take it apart to see what's happened but still doesn't explain the over boosting? Can these turbos be reconned? Edited March 2, 2019 by scot the sniper
G B L
Sounds like something got in side . The do sell Re-coned units, The amount of the core deposit depends on how much of the turbo they can reuse.
