Half beam problems with newly bought TC 2014 L1

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I'm new here at the forum and want to seek your opinion for what problems I have with my car!

I bought the car 2014/10/29 and driving at night is a horrible experience, the half beam dosen't seem to put out full power, it's really bad. Even older cars have better half beam light than my new Ford TC!

To my surprise it changes really drasticly when I try to dim the dashboard lightning! I'm speechless!

Drove the car to the dealership and they were gonna fix it..

Picked up the car 9 days later (got a crack in the windshield on day 2 due to low temperature, speaker in the left door don't put out any treble)

Yeah... so the service center manager tells me that he didn't think there was any problem with the half beam, problem was due to the generator had pulse charging, he told me "you know when you drive faster the fans in the car speeds up? That's the same with the half beam light."

I was absolutly furious inside but I just asked for they key to the car and drove off. I'm having a meeting with the sales manager later this week to get everything sorted... (Yes I've had an nightmare booking the time to get the windshield, speaker, half beam fixed, it took over 6 months to get it booked!)

I'm no newbie to either electronics or cars, this isn't supposed to be like this is what I'm stating here :D

Here is a youtube video of the phenomenon with the half beam

Except these problems I just love the car, I had a 2010 model of the TC and this is just an wonderful upgrade from it!

Park 25 feet from a wall when it is getting dark an adjust the lo beams with adjusting screws

that are on the top of each light, The adjusters are plastic use finesse and the lights will be fine. If you get

flashed alot you went to far and need to lower them a little.

Watched the video. It does appear to be a loss of voltage going to the headlamps. I think the "adjust the beams" commenter did not watch the video.

The low (or half) beams on the TC do seem to have a drastic cutoff focusing. Noticed that first night with it.

I'm not sure if you're on DRL. My Gen1 has DRL and these are only at 70% or so, rather weak for night driving. Manually switching the lights on sends full power to the headlights and they're awesome, both, low and high beams.

I did not have the Video when I read the post. The Adjustment I proposed was for the beam being too low.

Does the High beam dim also or is it only the Low beams? Does the Van have auto headlights ?

Do you have Access to a Volt Meter that could be Plugged into the Power socket That could see a Voltage change when the lights dim

Sounds like the Alternator has an issue .

Can't wait for the rest of the story
