seems to be very similar to the TC

they are going to be easily confused on the road between the two.

some specs are one-up on the TC by a narrow margin. don't think it's enough to pick one over the other.

some features I like, other I don't.

in the looks department, I don't know. very similar in appearance to the TC but perhaps less refined and more industrial like.

will be interesting to hear what others think.

Hey I checked out the preview I like the tc front better,also the dashboard is more modern in my opinion on the TC, I find the TC has just enough power ,as I moved from a 2003 Honda odyssey I feel the TC has more pick up not so sluggish clumzy and heavy as my Honda was and my Honda was in great shape, as many others has stated the TC drives like a family sedan not like a van feels lighweight wich is good ,breaks are really good too,and the dodge nine speed gearbox is sounds too much , the only thing would have been better in the TC if they would have updated the 2.5 liter engine with some newer technology but than the 2,5 liter engine been around should be plenty reliable hopefully.

I dont think dodge new engine with more HP would be better on gas but I could be wrong,well if they use direct injection and high compression ratio that's an other thing like Mazda does to get more HP out of it, I think we Better of with a lower compression ratio engine, for reliability.

I created a side by side pic.

very similar looking with subtle differences.

I think the TC is a little more sportier looking, less commercial.

It will be interesting to see the specs on the Dodge van when published.

I like the look of the TC better the front nose is more attractive also the doors handels I prefer on the TC.

Not too many people visiting this site daily besides you and me I guess

I would agree. It's good to have competition for products. keeps the pricing in line and makes the manufacturers work harder to add value.

Ford is going to have to keep improving the TC if they want to build their customer base.

As discussed in that other thread, the ProMaster City is using a 9-speed transmission that is currently in the 2014 Jeep Cherokee and is plagued with problems. Wanted to provide a few links that discuss this issue

Just dropped off my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude with 1500 miles off at the dealership. Blown transmission. What an unforgivable mistake the Jeep purchase was. Everyone warned me, but I got caught up in the hype. Such a shame. Rotten vehicle.
Had my jeep less than 4 months and it was towed to the dealer today because it would not shift into drive. It is the worst automatic shifting vehicle I have ever owned. I hope whatever they do with software update fixes this. I love it otherwise but this is not a little issue!!!

A 9-speed transmission sounds like overkill for the US market but I guess Fiat is trying to squeeze as much fuel economy as possible. Some posters below these articles noted that you'd have to be above 75-80mph to engage the 9th gear and it's geared more for Autobahn type driving, not US Highways.

If you're interested in this new 9-speed transmission and transmissions in general, then check out the link below for a more technical discussion. This has some relevance to the 6-speed transmission for the TC and some of the hard shifting drivers are experiencing.

windguy, thanks for the wealth of information you have posted the last few days. Hang in there with waiting for you 2015. I would hate to loose you to another manufacturers forum!

Another point against the Promaster City is that it has 60-40 doors which may be nice, but the wide door is on the street side (in the US). If it opens to 180 degrees, it will stick out in narrow streets.

that's a very good point. I noticed that as well and considered that a big negative for how I would use the van.

I parallel park at the beach a lot and sometimes parking is really tight and the car behind you stuffs you in, so having a bigger than 50% door could be a pain.

not sure how the 60/40 door would change your rear visibility. With the 50/50, the center area is blocked out so it limits your visibility somewhat. I'm used to having a tailgate where you have a nice open glass area for a clear view out the back.

Anyone that has owned a "Fiat" jeep which is the same drivetrain as the junk dodge van will say, you'll be sorry! I prayed dailey to find a buyer for mine as it had so many issues they couldn't be addressed. Number one is the sorry crap tranny! It missed gears all the time and would hang in 3rd until I stopped and started again!! Started whining at 800 miles and dealer said it was normal. Then it locked in 4th completely over and over again! Dealer did nothing. Then electrical and then the engine. Go to the Jeep forum or Google "Jeep complaints". There has never been a worse auto built than the Fiat/Dodge merger junk. If you fail to do some research before you buy you will be sick with regret. I found out the hard way...

The Promaster City does not come with any spare tire, If you need one  you have to buy the winch, jack, tire tools and the protective covers separately. I would hate to have a highway blowout and try to fix it with their sealant and air pump. 

I just got rid of a brand new Grand Caravan because of a fault that caused an accident and I wouldn't recommend an FCA product to anyone
