Gtrgrl
Hi all, I have a 2020 Transit Connect and am enjoying doing a "van build" with it! It is not metal inside, it has the liner. How does one put up hooks on the wall with a liner? I have used velcro to place some little curtains up; being light weight, they stay well. But I wish I could fasten a couple things to the walls/ceiling and don't know how. I also know I have to be careful near the front about the airbags, to not puncture the walls up front and maybe setting off the airbags. I'll put up a couple pictures to give an idea (this shows the ceiling, that includes the lining I'm talking about). I am also going to copy this post and place in another topic area that may be more correct. I can't find answers to this anywhere! Everywhere I look they show the cargo vans with the metal interior, not lined as I have. Thank you! mrtn
It's absolutely essential to have the metal roof insulated in a camper. windguy
Fifty150
Who would take out the headliner and insulation inside of a camper? When you build a cargo van into a camper, insulation is one of the things you add. If you have a passenger model that came with a headliner, there are airbags in there. Fifty150
The headliner is soft and will not be able to hold much weight. You can easily get common hooks from a hardware store. They usually have them for closets, bathrooms, and such. You can easily attach them with hollow wall hardware, the same way someone would mount a hook on the wall in their home. But once you put a few pounds on it, it will probably fail. windguy
windguy
GG - maybe you can be more specific about what you want to do. Hang from the ceiling, side or both? A single mounting point or several? Are you thinking a disco ball or some gator paraphernalia? I would agree with Fifty150 that anything with weight will sag the liner and eventually fail. I have a cargo van so I'm not very familiar with the wagon model liner but I do have some thoughts. If you want to mount from the ceiling, perhaps you can use one of the mounting points for the plastic fasteners, right above your head in your pic. I had to remove a few to lower the headliner above the cab area on the driver's side to replace a parking aid speaker. See pics below. Those anchors are in there pretty good. I had to tug on it and lever it out. One option is to use that to hang something from, wrapping it around the fastener. Or, if you need something beefier, I guess you can remove one, tap the hole to add threads and then add a threaded bolt. That would offer super holding power. Might be a bit difficult to do with the headliner in place but doable. Just some thoughts.

My post doesn't make any sense without the L0stNTransit's/t0astervan's comment that had been deleted.
