TC downshifting when coming to a stop - is it normal?

I bought a used TC not too long ago.

Lately, I've noticed that it downshifts when I'm coming to a stop at the light or stop sign. The shifting isn't jerky, but I do notice it.

Is that normal? It's an automatic transmission and I haven't noticed any other vehicles do it.

This transmission module  definitely takes a very active roll.  It holds speed up and down hill in Cruise and it shifts to put the Transmission in the  correct gear for the next acceleration. It also seems to know when the TC has extra load like pulling a trailer .
