Willie
I wouldn't like that top hinged tailgate at all, especially if it is held up by gas struts.
jimmbomb
dig the size of those bogus mirrors! I like the UK ones over our US ones.. BUT, these NEW ones.. man! look like laptops stuck out there.
103west43rd
Keep in mind these are pictures from Europe. They have always had a top hinged tailgate as an option. As for the mirrors, although I added the current UK mirrors ( I, like jimmbomb, also really like them) to my Transit Connect, I do not expect this new style to make it over to us. azdamay
Looks like the configuration of something like a Mazda5 - more car-like and less van-like. It does look like the renderings that were posted here a while back (if you can picture in your mind what's under the camo cladding). I'm not totally sold on Ford trying to put the new passenger car design language onto the vans. I know the current design trend for auto manufacturers is more complicated designs, but a van should be simple and utilitarian, and their new design language has a lot of different surfaces, angles, and body lines. Just my opinion.
mrtn
The passenger vans have always had the liftgate option.
Willie
Why difference would it make if Ford offered a liftgate previously or not? I still wouldn't want one regardless. I'm glad I got a TC before they changed them.
mrtn
The reason you didn't get the liftgate in the US is that you have the delivery van Transit, not the same car as a passenger van - Tourneo, which exclusively had the liftgate. azdamay
Not sure why the lift gate is causing such confusion/commotion... it's obviously not going to be on the cargo van, as a lift gate is not practical for commercial use and Ford knows that! robertlane
It certainly looks like the next-gen Transit Connect will be designed for more consumer applications too.
