Blind Spot Mirror
5axman replied to GAJoe's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
ScottD, If you look in the photo section you will find 5axman's T.C. photos. There is one photo of my red 2011 T.C. which shows the rear doors open and the drivers side shown. You can click on the picture to enlarge it. I know it's kind of hard to see but the spotter mirror is in the top outside corner of the mirror. It does not move when you adjust the main mirror with the mirror control. There are spotter mirrors on both sides of the truck. Although they may seem small i find them most useful. -

Rear window washers
5axman replied to flashcove's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
The wiper fluid tank you see under the hood is not the full size of the tank. It passes through the sheetmetal into an area inside the fender. The actual tank is quite large. -
Blind Spot Mirror
5axman replied to GAJoe's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
The 2011 Transit connect has built in blind spot mirrors. I love them. My 2010 did not have them. You could most likely have your 2010 mirrors replaced with the 2011 ones. They look so much better than any "add on" mirror. and they will not create added drag reducing fuel economy. -
Huge windshield SUCKS !
5axman replied to ncranchero's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
I love the large windshield! It was one of the selling features for me. My wife and i travel around alot and the large windows are great for sightseeing. The windshield is no more prone to getting hit by rocks or sand per square inch than any other windshield. And its thickness and temper are the same as all other cars on the road as approved by D.O.T. standards. I keep a good following distance between myself and the vehicle in front of me but sometimes even the most cautious of drivers will be hit by something. I drove an old pickup truck for 20 years and the windshield stayed perfect. Then one year it got hit severial times and had to be replaced. I guess for those who feel they are getting too much sun there is always a solution for that. Good thing they dont own a convertable or anything with a sun roof. -

Stan, i have had nothing but synthetic oil in mine from the start. When you open the hood look straight down you'll see the filter. Be sure your not voiding the warentee by doing the oil changes yourself. I would love to do my own but it appears that would'nt be wise.

disappointed with estimated mpg for city driving
5axman replied to TransitTenore's topic in Gasoline
I just returned from a 5500 mile vacation in the western U.S. I averaged 26.25 mpg with 24.0 being the lowest i got to 29.5 being the highest i got. The driving ranged from long flat streches to very mountianous terrain. I use fully synthetic oil. I also run the 87 octane fuel recommended.
