Try a different dealership. It's still under warranty. Let them fix it.

Check out how The City upfitted this one. Flashing lights in the grill, and on the front quarter panels just in front of the doors. A full light bar in the front (which you may not want). It's hard to see in the photo, but there is also a traffic advisor light mounted on the roof, right in front of the third brake light.

I haven't found a space that i couldn't squeeze my Long Wheel Base into; in-as-much-as it is a legitimate parking space with a meter and markings on the road designating the parameters of the parking space paid for by that parking meter. Every space downtown has a parking meter, and markings which specify the effective area paid for by that meter. Even my truck is able to fit within legal designated parking spaces.

Parking here is a nightmare so I'm optimizing for the shortest length that I can reasonably sleep in (5'10"). I'd prefer a wagon so that I can remove the bed & put the seats back in for group trips.
I live in The City. Parking is bad. But parking is bad no matter what kind of car you have. Really.
Forget about whether you can lie down. You can also forget about simply going to the dealerships and laying down to imagine what it would be like. If you're thinking about building a bedding platform, think about the mattress that you are planning to use. Bring a tape measure, and a notepad. Know the measurements of the mattresses that you want to use.
I would help you out some more. But I'm not taking my mattress outside, dragging it down 3 blocks to my van, to shove it in the back so that I can take pictures. Sorry.
Or simply look on youtube at all the camper builds that people have posted videos of.
Twin Mattress
A twin mattress is the smallest possible mattress size, other than a crib-sized mattress. Twin mattress dimensions are approximately 38 inches wide by 75 inches long. Both twin and full sizes are approximately 75 inches long, which may be too short for some adults, especially men.
Full Mattress
Sometimes still called a double mattress, a full size mattress is 53 inches wide, which is just 15 inches wider than a twin size (single). That leaves each partner only 27 inches of personal space, or about the width of a crib. Both twin and full sizes are approximately 75 inches long, which may be too short for some adults, especially men.

Most American trucks are bought for showing off over here.
A lot of American trucks sold in America as well. Nobody is doing "work" with a Harley, Roush, Shelby......et cetera.
Just imagine trying to work in a "show truck".

On my company car, which goes on average of 50,000 miles a year, I get a new windshield about every 6 months. More miles driven, greater chances of getting hit by rocks I guess. My personal pickup still has the OEM windshield after owning it for 10 years. And in all the years of owning Jeeps, I've only had to replace 1 Jeep windshield. Strange how those things work.......or not work in your favor.
-
Don,
I'm sure that they would work. In most cases though, those types of lamps still blink faster than halogen. Then, there is also the front signal. I'm being lazy and waiting for someone to try out a few things and post results.

My windshield took a rock when the Transit Connect was only 3 weeks old. I have a $500 deductible. So, no claim. I just had to pay for the rock chip repair out of pocket. According to the tech, what the glass companies use is not the same as what you buy over the counter at the auto parts store. Oh well. $25 - $35 for a one time use kit at the store. $50 - $60 for a shop.

What did you use to replace the turn signal bulbs?
Don
Don,
Nothing. I haven't replaced them yet. Still using OEM halogen turn signals.

When I first got my TC, I couldn't find a cord for the block heater, and ended up thinking that there was none. After reading recent posts, I checked my owner's manual, and it doesn't say "If equipped" under the "Engine block heater" title page 117, so I took another look, and sure enough, there it was. The reason I didn't find it previously, is because I was looking for a cord that looked like the one in my previous vehicle (Ford Focus wagon), which was a flat 3 conductor cord with a plug at the end, much like a regular household HD cord. The cord on the TC is wrapped with corrugated loom, and the plug is round. The whole thing was hiding under another loom to the right of the air filter. I would think that a block heater might be standard in colder regions in the US as well. I hope the pics will help some of you find theirs.

Don,
As I recollect, about 10 years ago when fuel prices were double what they are today, everyone was looking for a way to save $$$ on fuel. E85 & bio-diesel were options on a lot of vehicles. E85, LPG & CNG conversions were huge. There were kits all over the marketplace. Bio-Diesel required no conversion, but a lot of trucks were stalling due to clogged fuel filters. Electric and Hybrid were more or less The Prius. The biggest drawback to most of those was availability. At the time, the infrastructure simply did exist to support the consumer.
Now, 10 years down the road, our local utility PG&E has installed CNG fuel stations at their facilities......meaning you have to go to the PG&E yard to purchase fuel. I still don't see LPG readily dispensable. E85 & Diesel HPR are now at very few Propel brand pumps. In my area, Propel brand is only available in The Suburbs.....not actually available in The City where it would make sense. A lot Prius were sold, and now they are everywhere. Electric charging stations have started cropping up in parking garages and shopping malls.
Our company cars are Flex Fuel Fords. On mine, I run E85 only, and I pass smog with flying colors. But as I look around when I'm at the pumps, there are a lot Flex Fuel vehicles filling up with 87 octane gas......because it's too much trouble to drive an hour to buy cleaner fuel for less money. The same goes with bio-diesel. Every truck could use it. But nobody really does, because you just have to fuel up wherever you are at. You can't afford to detour an hour out with a full load, just to protect the environment and save ten cents. If it were easily accessible, more people would use the product. But it's not. That's why my personal vehicles are simply gas operated. Until such time that alternative fuels are everywhere, I will continue to operate gasoline engines........even diesel is hard to find, with only 1 out of every 7 or 8 stations willing to install a separate tank and pump to dispense it.
If you're interested, I think those conversion kits are still out there. Perhaps, even at a discount since nobody is buying them.
