Remote Key fob info
ncranchero replied to ncranchero's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
The fobs are transmitters, as you know. All you're doing is programming the vehicle to accept the remote. I'm just happy it works on my TC ! ! This fob generally speaking will not operate anything older than mid-nineties. -
Payload upgrade
ncranchero replied to Jamie Sugar's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Being my first trip and loaded to the max I was very careful. Mine has that RSC for whatever good it does. My instinct is, with it loaded like that, if I had to make a severe maneuver to avoid an accident I might be in trouble. Power .......... first gear is good. There seems to be too big a spread of ratios between 1st & 2nd, RPM drops too far for my liking. A 5 speed auto would have been much better and enabled you to stay in the power band.(if there is such a thing with this 2.0L) After 1st gear I feel like I need to pedal! :( For stop & go in town use it would be more than satisfactory. My load for today is very light and the power is noticeably better. 1600 lbs works the heck out of it. You'll have to understand my position though. My last 2 cargo vehicles were an '05 E250 4.6L w/ a 4.10 and an '08 E250 Super Duty 5.4L w/a 3.73. The '05 would actually get 18 MPG highway and pulled as well as the '08 which I could only get 15 MPG from. The TC got 23 MPG on this first trip. Needs a larger fuel tank for my purpose. I run a 500 mile, a 300 mile and a 200 mile trip every week. It went 311 miles on 13.47 gallons. Other first trip observations: The Ford 6000 CD 2 speaker radio sounds cheap. The cargo liners to finish what Ford started is outrageously priced for what little you get. ($700-$900). I'll make my own. You could take your shirt off and get a tan with that huge windshield. I HAVE to get some tinting. The aerodynamics DO keep most of the bugs from splattering on your windshield though. The mirrors SUCK. I'll be picking up a pair of the Hercules convex add-on today or tomorrow. There's a terrible blind spot right off the left rear corner and I have windows in all of the doors. The remotes won't lock the doors if you leave it running. It will with the key still in it but you have to turn it off. I'm sure after my first week I'll have more........................... -
I have a retractable key chain I wear on my belt with my most used keys on it. Also on it is my 3 button remote that I have programmed to about all of the family's Fords and to all of mine. On the TC I did the 8 times on/off/mash a button like is the "standard" programming mode ......... nothing. Came home & read the TC instructions, on/off 4 times/mash a button and it worked. So if you want a spare emergency remote just pick up a regular Ford 3-button remote. I feel much better now. This remote I have on my chain operated my '05 & '08 E250's, my wife's '99 Mustang, my '02 Sport Trac, my Mom's '05 Escape, my sisters '01 & '06 Escapes and my uncles '03 F150. Edit: For the correct fob the back has this info on it: 2L3T-15A601-AA FCC ID CWTWB1U331 CAN:1788 104 575

Payload upgrade
ncranchero replied to Jamie Sugar's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
I'm interested in that also, not so much as to add payload capacity but to just keep it on a more level stance. My first trip was today, started out quite early at around 4:30 am. I'll admit I did have it loaded at pretty close to the 1600 lb limit. It rode good, handled okay but with the rear end squatted it threw the headlights high. Every Tom, Dick and Harry that approached gave the the "high beam flash". I only haul a full load once a week but I hate blinding oncoming traffic. Suggestions????? -
Along the lines of this topic and since you folks have scared me into worrying about lockouts I tried something today you might be interested in. Check it out here:

Current list of TSB's
ncranchero replied to ncranchero's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs)
Wow, picked my TC up at 3:00 this afternoon with 50 miles on the clock and on the way home, 20 miles away, I'm getting the rear brake knock. So here I am using my own recall info. Supposedly it quits knocking after a "break-in" period. Well it's loaded pretty good and I have 500 miles to run tomorrow so we'll just see about that! -
Rear brake drum recall
ncranchero replied to PetrosA's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs)
I'm sure this has been resolved by now but FYI when a dealer does warranty work they have to use Ford parts. If you just take it in for a brake job they are likely to pick up pads locally and install them. I ran into this issue on my 08 E250. yep mine sat, twice, waiting on a set of pads. -
I'm assuming a 57plate Transit Connect is just a Transit Connect over here.

I just joined the group and thought I'd post up the current TSB's. I actually don't have a TC yet but am taking delivery on Monday 8/2. I have some pretty good resources so if I can be of assistance to someone just give me a shout. I've noticed some of the posts here pertain to these TSB's. I can post the complete bulletin on an as needed basis. Here is the current list: Technical Service Bulletins 2010 TRANSIT CONNECT - US (English) The Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) listed here may NOT apply to the vehicle you are working on. You MUST run OASIS with a specific VIN and Symptom Code to determine if it applies. If OASIS does not return the TSB, then it does NOT apply. 10-15-3 THUMPING/KNOCKING NOISE - REAR BRAKES 10-15-1 P07XX, P0642, P0138, P0141, P0219 AND/OR ERRATIC SHIFTING AND/OR ERRATIC SPEEDOMETER - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 12/29/2009 10-11-4 CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER MOTOR - CONTINUOUS OPERATION / INOPERATIVE ON ONE SPEED - A/C COMPRESSOR INOPERATIVE - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 8/7/2009 10-9-6 CREAK NOISE FROM REAR - WITH BRAKES APPLIED 10-4-9 VARIOUS WATER LEAKS 10-1-10 BLACK RUBBER CARGO MAT OFFENSIVE SMELL 09-22-2 LATERAL PLAY AND/OR RADIAL NOISE IN TELESCOPING STEERING COLUMN 09-20-8 PASSENGER WIPER ARM INTERFERES WITH DRIVER ARM IN PARK POSITION 09-19-18 REAR CARGO DOOR RATTLE - BUILT BEFORE 6/1/2009
