  1. I can't believe it's taken this long... but I found the answer!!! First, my dealer said it couldn't be done (security issue from Ford). Yeah, right. I found this on Youtube after another search:
  2. Congrats! I hope you will be as happy with your TC as I am. I haven't posted for awhile, but, after 5 noths of happy ownership, I am very glad I went with this van. The liftgate is perfect for protection from the sun/rain and I work on a slide-out bench from the rear of the vehicle. I custom-built and modified shelving/cabinets to make tool/stock retrieval from all doors to be most efficient. You won't believe what have shoe-horned into our TC. Have fun!!
  3. I don't know (would have to look it up, perhaps in the morning). But, since I am a happy Amsoil user, I went to the website.... http://www.amsoil.com/mygarage/vehiclelookuppage.aspx?url2=2014+FORD%20TRUCKS+TRANSIT%20CONNECT+7| They are most helpful
  4. The TC is much better handling for the cargo weight than the Caravan was, which translates to better cornering, braking and ride. I took a risk in ordering a TC when I didn't test drive one, but have driven several Caravans and Town & Country's (as rental vehicles). They would have been my second choice, but I didn't want to buy a car twice (GM and Chrysler both took my tax dollars as bailout money). Plus, I wanted a mini-cargo van with a lift gate, so that left out anything from GM, Nissan, and any other mini-van with rear seats that I would have had to buy and store. We did use a product similar to Liquid Nails. My construction supervisor brother recommended it. The TC floor is a cushioned mat, but that didn't bother me. It has an interesting non-skid finish to it. I don't have enough room for crawling, so it's not been a concern.
  5. I tried to use the windshield shade from my '05 Caravan in the TC, and it was surprisingly too large! So, the TC windshield looks big (and is), but not as big as others. We used flat sheets from Home Depot, 2 layers, and the only places requiring any flexing was the 2 roof sections. My brother lightly scored the panels to form into the curvature and we bowed some scrap wood to apply pressure overnight for the adhesive to cure in the right shape. It worked! Not worried about the storms. we hunker down and ride them out like 85% if the locals do.
  6. Vehicles Affected: Nearly 370 model-year 2014 Ford Transit Connect vans manufactured between March 1, 2014, and May 15, 2014 The Problem: The affected vehicles may have a brake reservoir cap that does not have the required text advising owners which brake fluid the vehicle uses. This could result in someone adding the wrong brake fluid, causing damage to the brake system seals and, in turn, brake fluid leaks; this could lengthen stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. The Fix: Ford notified owners on July 14, and dealers will replace the brake reservoir cap with the correct one for free. What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Ford at 800-392-3673, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info. 7. The window shield is a 'quilted' item, foil facing on one side, white on the other. I bought it online, made for the '14TC... autoanything.com. I recommend them for accessories. Free Shipping. Decent prices. We used 2 layers of home insulation in sheets, cut and glued to the roof/side sections that only had bare (painted), metal. It made a drastic difference. We didn't cover the insulation panels as they are acceptable in appearance for a fully-equipped cargo/service van. Hurricanes have not been a problem for us. We love KW!
  8. WindGuy, if you will be as happy with your purchase as I am with mine, the waiting is the hardest part. I am really pleased with the TC. REALLY! I'm into gadgets and the bluetooth, XM, GPS, back-up cam are all aces. My driving is more fun, so life is good. PS: I added extra tint to all windows but the windshield, along with insulation for the roof/sides of the cargo area. Finally, we have a 'quilted' reflective windshield sunscreen for when we need to park the van in the sun. They have made a world of difference in the FL heat.
  9. I found online a post on another Ford forum that the dealer can disable the MyKey feature, which will allow the remote start to continue engine running when you open a door. I'll be doing that!
  10. 2014 TC LWB Cargo, Race Red
  11. I update my info, thx. I work too much to have a single water-related passion. We hit the beach when we can, I snorkel and SCUBA when I have the time (and $$), and we usually only go fishing when guests come to visit.

    Lookin' good. Congrats!
  13. I can't address what your dealer will do, or the timing of any incentives when you finally take delivery. When I paid my deposit for the order in Feb, I was offered a $500 rebate, which was locked in at that time. When I took delivery, the rebates in total actually racked up to $2500! The APR that was offered by Ford Credit was not pretty, and then the dealer said that he found an APR offer of 0.09%, but the rebates would be less. The total dollar amount favored the lower APR over the cash back amount that was withdrawn. At least you know that there may be additional incentives upon delivery than what was offered originally. It's worth the energy to squeeze the dealer for all available choices.
  14. I was given 2 choices. I opted for a lower rebate amount and a super low APR for my financing.
  15. I ordered a set of 2 AVS by Lund Vent Visors for driver/passenger doors for my '14 TC. I was sent the wrong model and was given the option of liquidating the Visors instead of returning them. These Visors are US made, attach above the windows, using 3M foam double-stick tape, and allows the windows to be lowered a bit for ventilation yet keeping the rain from coming in. Still in the original package and shipping is included to US addresses in the price of $25.00. Contact me for PayPal payment details. http://www.lundinternational.com/products/ventvisors-side-window-deflectors/ventvisor/?brand=avs#.U_Fj4kjAhb0
  16. WindGuy, are you still waiting to order a 2015? I would think that the Ford website will post available options for the '15 model when they begin to take orders for it. My understanding is that they have stopped taking orders for the '14 model and will be building the '15 in September.
  17. My '14 TC has the Remote Start factory installed option and has the MyKey option as well. The way it works is that When I open a door after starting the engine with remote start, the engine shuts of. The manual states that it works that way when the vehicle is equipped with MyKey. I would like the engine to continue to run when I open a door (as a TC without the MyKey feature does). Is there a way to turn off the MyKey feature (which I don't need)?
  18. Last post to follow up on this saga. I finally took delivery (my brother drove it from the dealer in PA to our home) less than 2 weeks ago. I ordered this thing in mid-February, receiving it at the dealer 5 1/2 months later. Short version... after waiting way too long, and having a ridiculous time with my dealer.... I LOVE the TC! It's a great minivan: runs great, gets lots of looks, has cool features. I have no regrets in ordering the TC, excessive waiting aside.
  19. Thanks... One of the things I always wondered about: No one breaks in rental cars according the manuals. Rental cars are abused in many ways, but a reputation of engine issues don't seem to be one of them.
  20. My dealer tells me that there is no break-in period or procedure on new vehicles anymore, so zipping along in the TC on the highway is not an issue. Is that true? Since I'm old school, I'm having difficulty accepting this.
