  1. Sunny are you still out there? We're still wondering about the shift point reprograming??
  2. Cool! Nice use of the height.
  3. Has anyone else done this yet? Sunny what does Randy estimate the cost of this would be on the stocker?
  4. The reason why i wanna get 3 ways is I am hoping that they will be able to clean up the sound coming from the crapy head unit. They do the highs mids and lows.
  5. Thanks as always Azdamay. I think i am just going to order the Pioneer 3 ways and assume that Tugrik got the same ones, I think they only offer one set of 5 1/4" 3 ways.
  6. Hi All, Going to do a set of speakers here and I am considering a set of 5.25" Pioneer TS-A1374R 3 WAY speakers. I am also considering Clarion SRQ1331R 5.25" 3 WAYS. I don't want to modify or lose my OEM speaker grill. I want it to look totally stock. I am concerned that the 3 WAYs will stick out too far for the OEM grill. I saw that Tugrik installed Pioneer 3 WAYS (but I am not sure which model) with out modifying the doors. Anyone else install 3 WAYS? Crutchfield and BestBuy say the 3 ways won't work. Thanks all. z
  7. Check out SunnySmith's turbo in the Powertrain section.
  8. The Euros are putting in shorter sport focus front suspensions on. The only way to lower the rear is to cut and reweld the axle so that it is ABOVE the leaf springs, thus lowering the rear end a whoping 3". Looks good though. Check the pix on fordtransit.org. Unfortunately you'll be the guinea pig over here. I don't know of anyone who has done it over here besides the HR suspension company.
  9. I live in an urban area too. Heres what I do to open the doors. I parallel park and pull all the way forward almost touching the bumper of the car in front of me. I go and open the doors and fold them back (I have the 255 degree doors) and then I back up a comfortable distance, giving room to the car in front of me. With the doors open and folded in, there is plenty of room to manuver in a tight parking spot. I think you'll love the transit. I have hauled pretty long pieces of lumber too. I either tuck them between the front seats on the counsol or to the right of the passenger seat. Works for a few pieces as long as its not plywood. You'll need a roof rack for that.
  10. Any update on this?? I am getting a super bad scraping noise from the rear. I recently inspected the front pads and they have 40% remaining at 16k miles (though since I bought it at 10k miles its possible the set of pads I am seeing at the front are the second pair). Thanks!
  11. No sorry to get your hopes up Azdamay, I should have been more clear....its the crown vic taxis that have them. I don't know that they'll fit on the transit's wheels.
  12. That would be Azdamay. He has the sweet rings, and he is trying to find the UK style center caps. I know they put the UK style of center caps on Taxis around here BUT not sure if they'll fit on the transit's wheels?? His original post was in the new member welcome section.
  13. Hi Jstep. I think you were slightly hoodwinked by your salesman. The XLT transit has power door locks/windows/mirrors etc. Yes the transit is pretty spartan, but the power options you listed are still available. If you are planning on outfitting it for RV it would be nice to have these features, but you'll probably lose a bunch of $$ trading up, especially if you bought a new one. Sorry man!
  14. I got a free $100 for parts/service at San Francisco ford. Incredible promotion, you didn't have to spend over $100 to use it. It was $100 same as cash. So I got an oil change and set of motorcraft pads and was only out of pocket $15 bucks. Not too shabby. Any way I am at 16,800 miles and the dust and squealing are pretty bad so i figured the pads were about shot. Popped off the wheel to check pad wear and was surprised to see about 45% remaining compared to the new motorcraft pads. So I guess I am seeing pretty good wear, unless the pads were changed before 10k miles as I bought this van used with 10,500 miles.
  15. Hi Sunny, Plan sounds good, I like the affordability of the transit too. You can do a lot for a little comparatively. I don't know if this will help you at all but H&R are the only company on this side of the moat that have lowered a transit as far as I can tell. I don't know that they will do it for a customer but might be worth a call: http://www.hrsprings.com/projects/detail/hr_transit_connect_project/ I kinda like the blue.
  16. Hey Sunny, What do you have planned for your transit? Are you making a super RS like the Transit Connect Xpress the SVT team built in Europe? Just wondering why you are pulling off all the goodies?

    Hello

Welcome Randy, keep us posted on go-fast products for the transit. I know in the UK there are a few guys that are putting out lowering kits for the transit. Its my understanding that they actually relocate/reweld the rear axle on top of the spring for like a 3" drop and they use racier focus front springs/struts to achieve a drop up front. Would you guys be working on something like that? thanks!
  18. Hmmmmm.....since the Transit is front wheel drive and doesn't have any sort of rear diff, I would have to agree with you in that the rear diff IS the weakest point because it doesn't exist.
  19. My "Race Support" vehicle. The RS can't really stand for "Rally Sport" when the 0-60 time is 11 seconds. The motorcycle platform was a three way idea collaboration of me, my dad, and my sister's boyfriend's father who runs a metal shop. It works pretty slick. It is 1/4 or 3/8" diamond plate aluminum and bolts into the seat lags and also the D ring lags in the back. It uses a locking motorcycle chock and special clamping tie downs at the footpegs which elliminate the need for the tie downs at the bars. This was important b/c the tie downs at the bars wouldn't work b/c they would have to pull the bike down and forward into the chock and b/c the bike is so far forward that there are no tie down points far enough forward. Anyway it turned out well the bike is secure and solid and there is room for all the other race gear which is relatively protected inside the cab vs. a pickup truck bed where it can be easily stolen. The transit is really a dream vehicle for me. I had been using a ford F150 as a daily driver and for race transport I pulled an enclosed trailer. Well on its best day the F150 would get 18 mpg, closer to 14 mpg around town. Not fun. It was also huge. I got a new place last year and the truck barely fit in my driveway and there was no place to keep a 14ft enclosed trailer so I had to re-evaluate my vehicle situation. I sold the truck and trailer and bought the used transit and still had money left over! The transit fits in the drive way and even IN the garage (cali has small garages)! The transit costs about 1/2 as much to register and insure and the fuel economy is so much better. Thank you Ford for bringing it here.
