Slamsit
Does anyone have a a solution to a larger output alternator? I had my shop attempt an installation of this unit, but it created havoc and fluctuations with voltage. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254104389682 Any help would be appreciated. We were also doing the big three upgrade.
17transitconnecter
I'm looking at the one from powerbastards.Com
Don Ridley
I don't know if a high output alternator will work without changing the configuration in the ECU. The alternator output is controlled by the ECU (pulse width modulated signal) and there may be an issue if the control signal sent by the ECU does not produce the expected result. You should ask the alternator vendor about this. There may be an option in Forscan for different alternator types but I never looked for it so I'm only guessing. G B L
I think that the one you are looking at could do the the job, if they set it up correctly. The real difference is how much the Alt will put out at an Idle and how good the windings are able to take the heat. The standard one is able to handle most of the loads at speed. The one your company sells looks ok, but it should be Ok for 495.00!!

Are you referring to a "smart alternator"? This is the only thing that I know of that should be an issue with any ho alternator upgrade. Even then I believe it's just how it's wired. Not aware of having to mess with the ecu for alternator upgrades. And I'm fairly certain the TC doesn't have a smart alternator but I can't say I'm 100 percent on that
Don Ridley
You are correct about the 2.5L TCs, they do not have a smart charging system. I have the 1.6L EcoBoost (2016) and it has a smart charging system. Here are the alternator specs: gen specs.pdf
